Dark muscle from yellowfin tuna is an important edible fish by-product. However, it has a low commercial value, and it is underutilized. The present study was conducted to establish the characteristic of this by-product. Myoglobin concen- tration in tuna dark muscle is high (9650.12 mg/kg). Total iron in tuna muscle was 32.11 mg/kg, higher than other animal foods like veal or pork, and heme iron concentration was 23.56 mg/kg (73.38% of the total iron), indicating a high bioavailability of heme iron in dark muscle from yellowfin tuna, which is a nutritional advantage. As for the techno- logical properties, yellowfin tuna dark muscle had a water holding capacity of 8.37 g water/g and oil holding capacity of 8.11 g oil/g. This indicates that tuna dark muscle has possible applications to elaborate products, such as emulsion- ated foods or cooked products, so its industrialization is possible.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has significantly contributed to our capabilities of diagnosis multiple sclerosis (Ms) since it is able to detect demyelinating lesions in almost 100% of patients. However, there are modest correlations between irreversible disability and white matter lesion load, as measured by T2-weighted MRI scans, which represents the clinicoradiological paradox of Ms. We report the case of a patient with Ms and few neurological manifestations despite extensive T2 visible morphologic abnormalities. The use of non-conventional MRI techniques, which are more specific in the analysis of the pathological substrate of demyelinating lesions and normal appearing brain matter (both white and gray matter), might assist us to overcome this limitation of conventional MRI.

AIM: To analyze the indications, effi cacy and safety of sphincteroplasty in our centre. METHODs: A retrospective study of sphincteroplasty in 53 cases of papilla at high risk was performed in 2004-2006. The procedure consisted of duodenoscopy with Olympus TJF 145 Videoduodenoscope, approach to the biliary tract using a catheter with a guidewire, and dilatation of the papilla with a dilatation balloon catheter using a syringe with a manometer for control of the fi lling pressure. REsULTs: The indications included intradiverticular papilla in 26 patients (49/), stenosis of a previous sphincterotomy in 19 patients (35.8/), small size of the papilla in 4 patients (7.5/), Billroth Ⅱ gastrectomy in 3 patients (5.6/), and coagulopathy in one patient (1.9/). The efficacy was 97.8/, with all the calculi extracted from the common bile duct in 84.4/ of the patients, even though 21 of the patients (39.6/) had calculi with a diameter equal to or greater than 10 mm. seven patients (13.2/) presented complications: haemorrhage in 1 patient (1.9/) and mild pancreatitis in 6 patients (11.3/). The mean hospital stay in case of complications was of 3 ± 0.63 d. CONCLUsION: sphincteroplasty is highly effective, with a complication rate similar to that of sphincterotomy, furthermore, the complications are of low clinical importance. The use of the 10 mm balloon makes it possible to extract calculi with a diameter of over 15 mm and to extract more than 3 calculi without increasing the rate of complications and reduces the need to resort tolithotripsy or rescue sphincterotomy.

Introduction: Degeneration of the cervical spine (CDSD) prevalence is nearly 90% by the 7th decade. This is the first research that compares the outcomes between the Anterior Approach (AA) and Posterior Approach (PA) to cervical myelopathy (CM) in the elderly. Materials and Methods: A retrospective observational study of electronic health records at the Hospital Central Sur de Alta Especialidad (HCSAE), PEMEX from January 2010 to May 2020 with patients older than 60 years submitted to cervical surgery. For the analysis we elaborated two groups according to the surgical approach: AA vs PA;we analyzed the trans-operative behavior, the immediate outcome, and after 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. Results: span>As a total of 145 patients, the prevalence of CM in elderly was the 63.8% with a median age of 69 (64 - 75) years. We found statistical differences in strength outcome only in the P3m (p = 0.011), for sensitivity we found major prevalence of affection in the PA group.
