A series of nanostructured Zr-doped anatase TiO_2 tubes with the Zr/Ti molar ratio of 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, and0.09 were prepared by a sol–gel technology on a carbon fiber template. The electrochemical performance of Zr-doped anatase TiO_2 as anodes for rechargeable lithium batteries was investigated and compared with undoped titania. Tests represented that after 35-fold charge/discharge cycling at C/10 the reversible capacity of Zr-doped titania（Zr/Ti = 0.03） reaches 135 m A h g^（-1）, while the capacity of undoped titania（Zr/Ti = 0） yielded only 50 m A h g^（-1）. Based on the results of the physicochemical investigation, three reasons of improving electrochemical performance of Zr-doped titania were suggested. According to the scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy, Zr^（4＋） doping induces a decrease in nanoparticle size, which facilitates the Li＋diffusion. The Raman investigations show the more open structure of Zr-doped TiO_2 as compared to undoped titania due to changing of the unit cell parameters, that significantly affects on the reversibility of the insertion/extraction process. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy results indicate that substitution of Zr^（4＋） for Ti^（4＋） into anatase TiO_2 has favorable effects on the conductivity.

AIM To evaluate the effects of glucagon-like peptide-1 analogs(GLp-1 a) combined with insulin on myocardial ischemiareperfusion injury in diabetic *** Type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2 DM) was induced in maleWistar rats with streptozotocin(65 mg/kg) and verified using an oral glucose tolerance test. After anesthesia, the left coronary artery was occluded for 40 min followed by 80 min reperfusion. Blood glucose level was measured during surgery. Rats were randomized into six groups as follows:(1) control rats;(2) insulin(0.1 U/kg) treated rats prior to ischemia;(3) insulin(0.1 U/kg) treated rats at reperfusion;(4) GLp-1 a(140 mg/kg) treated rats prior to ischemia;(5) GLp-1 a(140 mg/kg) treated rats at reperfusion; and(6) rats treated with GLp-1 a(140 mg/kg) prior to ischemia plus insulin(0.1 U/kg) at reperfusion. Myocardial area at risk and infarct size was measured planimetrically using Evans blue and triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining, *** There was no significant difference in the myocardial area at risk among groups. Insulin treatment before ischemia resulted in a significant increase in infarct size(34.7% ± 3.4% vs 18.6% ± 3.1% in the control rats, p post-ischemic administration of insulin or GLp-1 a had no effect on infarct size. However, pre-ischemic administration of GLp-1 a reduced infarct size to 12% ± 2.2%(p p treated with GLp-1 a prior to ischemia and insulin at reperfusion(8% ± 1.6%, p p-1 a alone treated groups).CONCLUSION GLp-1 a pre-administration results in myocardial infarct size reduction in rats with T2 DM. These effects are maximal in rats treated with GLp-1 a pre-ischemia plus insulin at reperfusion.

This study aimed to discriminate red wines obtained from organic and biodynamic management by means of proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) and metabonomic investigation. Red wines were produced from Sangiovese grapes over the three harvests 2010-2012 from two parcels of a vineyard, managed according to organic (ORG) or biodynamic (BIO) protocol, respectively. Every year the vinifications were performed with commercial selected yeasts (CSY) according to the organic protocol. Moreover, in 2012, CSY vinification was flanked by a spontaneous vinification (SpO) carried out by microorganisms naturally present on the grapes. To gain information about the effects of production year, vineyard management, vinification protocol and vines site in the field on the wine characteristics, proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectra were registered by means of a spectrometer operating at 600 MHz and multivariate analysis was carried out. production year and vinification protocol were found to be the factors affecting most the characteristics of wine metabolome. Vineyard management seemed to have more limited consequences on the wine composition, with effects on some aminoacids (proline, aspartic acid and valine), alcohols and some polyphenols. The latter observation could not be considered as certain, as vines site in the field acted, in this respect, as a confounding element.

Specific alterations of regional myocardial work in strength-trained athletes using anabolic androgenic steroids compared to athletes with genetic hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

Background:Strength-trained athletes using anabolic androgenic steroids(AAS)have left ventricular(LV)hypertrophy and myocardial fibrosis that can lead to sudden cardiac death.A similar feature was described in athletes with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy(HCM),which complicates the diagnosis for *** this context,we aimed to compare the LV function of the 2 populations by measuring global and regional strain and myocardial work using speckle-tracking ***:Twenty-four strength-trained asymptomatic athletes using AAS(AAS-Athletes),22 athletes diagnosed with HCM(HCM-Athletes),and 20 healthy control athletes(Ctrl-Athletes)underwent a resting echocardiography to assess LV *** evaluated LV global and regional strains and myocardial work,with an evaluation of the constructive work(CW),wasted work,and work efficiency(WE).Results:Compared to Ctrl-Athletes,both AAS-Athletes and HCM-Athletes had a thicker interventricular septum,with maj ored values in *** strain was reduced in AAS-Athletes and even more in ***,global WE was significantly diminished in both AAS and HCM-Athletes(93%±2%in Ctrl-Athletes,90%±4%in AAS-Athletes,and 90%±5%in HCM-Athletes(mean±SD);ppecific alterations,with the basal septal segments preferentially affected in AAS-Athletes,and both septal and apical segments affected in ***:The regional evaluation of myocardial work reported specific alterations of the major LV hypertrophy induced by the regular use of AAS compared to the LV hypertrophy due to *** finding could help clinicians to differentiate between these 2 forms of pathological hypertrophy.

The author＇s process of Cold Fusion firstly was announced at the International Conference on Emerging Nuclear Energy Systems in 2007, after that it was presented at the International Conference on Emerging Nuclear Energy Systems in 2009. The product has already been applied since June, 2007. It was developed as a large Module of 300 cm x 40 cm, producing energy at 600 megawatts per hour, with unique waste of about 300 cubic meters of pure drinkable instant water a day. There is also a portable Module, producing about 1 megawatt per hour, having in waste about 1 cubic meter of pure drinkable instant water a day. The important details：（1） we have the ability to stop the Module at any time; （2） the civil applications of this process is mentioned at the articles, published on the website of the European Scientific parliament in the year of 2010; （3） the diverse modules became the object of special protocols, signed with a number of countries all over the world.

polymorphonuclear neutmphils （pMNs） have a major role in the innate immune system. However, little is known about pMN contribution in relation to oral health. The objective of this study was to investigate the numbers and functional characteristics of oral pMNs （opMNs） compared with circulatory pMNs （cpMNs）. Oral rinse and venous blood samples were obtained from 268 systemically and orally healthy volunteers in a cross-sectional observational study. pMN counts, cell cycle analysis and cellular activation state were investigated. Also, reactive oxygen species （ROS） production was analyzed, with and without bacterial stimulation （Fusobacterium nucleatum）. In males, 1.2 × 10^6- 1.0 ×10^6 opMNs were collected, and showed a tendency to correlate with the levels of gingival bleeding （r= 0.215, p= 0.008）. Comparable opMNs counts were found among females （1.0 ×10^6＋ 0.7 × 10^6）. More late-stage apoptotic/necrotic cells were found among the opMNs （53.1%） compared with the cpMNs （8.5%; p〈 0.001）. Without additional stimulation, opMNs were more activated than cpMNs, as indicated by higher expression of CD11b, CD63 and CD66b, and higher constitutive ROS levels （p〈 0.001）. Notably, in response to bacterial stimulation, opMNs released comparable ROS levels as cpMNs （p= 0.042）. In conclusion, this study provides data on viable opMNs showing high levels of activation in orally and systemically healthy individuals, free of apparent caries lesions and periodontal disease. These data suggests that although the opMNs are in a more mature stage of their life cycle compared with the cpMNs, opMNs are still responsive to stimulation, which indicates their functional potential and possible contribution to a healthy oral ecosystem.

We propose theoretically and demonstrate experimentally the generation of light pulses whose polarization varies temporally to cover selected areas of the poincare´sphere with both tunable swirling speed and total duration(1 ps and 10 ps,respectively,in our implementation).The effect relies on the Rabi oscillations of two polariton polarized fields excited by two counter-polarized and delayed *** superposition of the oscillating fields result in the precession of the Stokes vector of the emitted light while polariton lifetime imbalance results in its drift from a circle of controllable radius on the poincare´sphere to a single point at long *** positioning of the initial circle and final point allows to engineer the type of polarization spanning,including a full sweeping of the poincare´*** universality and simplicity of the scheme should allow for the deployment of time-varying full-poincare´polarization fields in a variety of platforms,timescales,and regimes.

The starting point in the investigation of what fiscal sustainability means is represented by the importance of this issue. Fiscal sustainability involves especially how governments should manage their budget deficit and public debt that harmful the welfare state. The concept of sustainability has the following three dimensions: environmental, social and economic The aim of this study is to find a common theoretical definition of fiscal sustainability which represents a component of economic sustainability, taking into account the multiple meanings presented in the literature. We analyze definitions based on the relation between debt to GDp ratio and interest rate;on the inter-temporal budget restrain;on the reaction of macroeconomic variables to an increase in debt level;on stability and safety;on solvency and liquidity. We also discuss vulnerability as alternative way to define fiscal sustainability. Thus, the paper presents the multiple meanings that had been used to capture the sense of fiscal sustainability over time.
