Evolving data show a variable expression of clinical neurological manifestations in patients suffering with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)from early disease *** most frequent symptoms and signs are fatigue,dizziness,impaired consciousness,ageusia,anosmia,radicular pain,and headache,as well as *** on the high number of series of cases reported,there is evidence for the implication of the immune system in the pathological mechanism of *** the exact role of the immunological mechanism is not elucidated,two main mechanisms are suggested which implicate the direct effect of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection in the central nervous system and *** the context of neurological manifestations associated with COVID-19,neuropsychiatric disorders show an exacerbation and are described by symptoms and signs such as depression,anxiety,mood alterations,psychosis,post-traumatic stress disorder,delirium,and cognitive impairment,which appear to be common in COVID-19 survivors.A worsened score on psychopathological measures is seen in those with a history of psychiatric *** review the neuropsychiatric manifestations associated with COVID-19 and some critical aspects of the innate and adaptive immune system involved in mental health disorders occurring in COVID-19.

Soil-vegetation relationships in Mediterranean forests after fire

Background:Wildfires are one of the major environmental concerns in Mediterranean ***,many studies have addressed wildfire impacts on soil and vegetation in Mediterranean forests,but the linkages between these ecosystem compartments after fire are not well *** aim of this work is to analyze soil-vegetation relationships in Mediterranean burned forests as well as the consistency of these relationships among forests with different environmental conditions,at different times after fire,and among vegetation with different functional ***:Our results indicate that study site conditions play an important role in mediating soil-vegetation ***,we found that the nature of soil-vegetation relationships may vary over time as fire effects are less dominant in both ecosystem *** this,we detected several common soil-vegetation relationships among study sites and times after *** instance,our results revealed that available P content and stoichiometry(C:P and N:P)were closely linked to vegetation growth,and particularly to the growth of *** found that enzymatic activities and microbial biomass were inversely related to vegetation growth rates,whereas the specific activities of soil enzymes were higher in the areas with more vegetation height and ***,our results suggest that resprouters may influence soil properties more than seeders,the growth of seeders being more dependent on soil ***:We provide pioneer insights into how vegetation is influenced by soil,and vice-versa,in Mediterranean burned *** results reflect variability in soil-vegetation relationships among study sites and time after fire,but consistent patterns between soil properties and vegetation were also *** research is highly relevant to advance in forest science and could be useful to achieve efficient post-fire management.

Fungal endophytes are receiving increasing attention as resources to improve crop production and ecosystem ***,the biology and ecological significance of these symbionts remains poorly understood,due to a lack of model systems for more efficient *** this work,we have analyzed the culturable endophytic mycobiota associated,in the wild,with leaves and siliques of the model plant *** have studied the effect of biotic and abiotic factors in the frequency of fungal endophytes in plant specimens,and in the species composition of the endophytic *** results indicate that the frequency of Arabidopsis plants hosting endophytes depends on the time of the year and the phenological stage of the plant,and that the probability of endophyte colonization increases as the life cycle of the plant *** diversity of the endophytic assemblages of natural *** populations was high,and precipitation and temperature were the two main factors determining the diversity and species composition of the *** propose *** and its endophytes as a model system for an integral approach to the principles governing the endophytic lifestyle,taking advantage of the molecular tools and the abundant knowledge accessible from the host plant.

Social Network-Aware Interfaces as Facilitators of Innovation

Achieving continuous innovation in organizations requires a balance between exploiting yet acquired knowledge and exploring new knowledge. In addition to having the adequate resources, change and innovation capabilities require specific management support and organizational structures. Recent research has pointed out the importance of social network structure and of the activity of agents that work across domains or disciplines in the innovation-oriented behaviour of organizations. As a consequence, information systems should ideally be able to support the analysis, development and management of such social structure for the benefit of organizational objectives. Current social network interfaces provide an established mental model to workers that can be hypothesized to be adequate for supporting activities that foster innovative behaviour. That behaviour is facilitated through exposing the activities of other workers across organizational structures. This paper reports on the design of a user interface specifically targeted to manage the social aspects of innovation based on some aspects of Hargadon＇s model of innovation and knowledge brokering. The emergent nature of interactions in social network sites is used as the metaphor to foster situated cognition. The interface design assessment is described and some metrics for innovative behaviour that could be derived for such an interface are sketched.

Vitamin B 12 is an organometallic compound with important metabolic derivatives that act as cofactors of certain enzymes,which have been grouped into three subfamilies depending on their *** them,methylmalonyl-CoA mutase (MCM) has been extensively *** enzyme catalyzes the reversible isomerization of L-methylmalonyl-CoA to succinyl-CoA using adenosylcobalamin (AdoCbl) as a cofactor participating in the generation of radicals that allow isomerization of the *** crystal structure of MCM determined in Propionibacterium freudenreichii *** has helped to elucidate the role of this cofactor AdoCbl in the reaction to specify the mechanism by which radicals are generated from the coenzyme and to clarify the interactions between the enzyme,coenzyme,and *** existence of human methylmalonic acidemia (MMA) due to the presence of mutations in MCM shows the importance of its role in *** recent crystallization of the human MCM has shown that despite being similar to the bacterial protein,there are significant differences in the structural organization of the two *** studies have identified the involvement of an accessory protein called MMAA,which interacts with MCM to prevent MCM's inactivation or acts as a chaperone to promote regeneration of inactivated *** interdisciplinary studies using this protein as a model in different organisms have helped to elucidate the mechanism of action of this isomerase,the impact of mutations at a functional level and their repercussion in the development and progression of MMA in *** is still necessary to study the mechanisms involved in more detail using new methods.

Li_(3)FeF_(6)has been the focus of research of fluorine-based cathode materials for lithium-ion *** of the low electronic conductivity of Li3 FeF6,the decrease of particle size,by an energyconsuming long-time ball milling process with carbon,is necessary to achieve a high electrochemical *** most successful method to enhance electrochemical activity,carbon coating,seemed to be impracticable,so far,for sensitive fluorides like Li3 *** this work,carbon coating on Li3 FeF6 particles has been successfully achieved for the first time,while avoiding both extended hydrolysis and Fe(Ⅲ)-Fe(Ⅱ)*** heat treatment and atmosphere,yielding the maximal transformation of organic carbon to both graphitised and disordered carbon,has been *** coating,with a thickness of approximately 2.5 nm,has been achieved by controlled thermal decomposition of glucose,under air,at 300℃.Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)experiments have proved the existence of carbon and Fe2O3 on the surface of Li3FeF6 *** spectroscopy indicates the presence of organic residues from glucose *** to further reduce the orga nic carbon content results in a decrease of the amorphous carbon coating *** carbon-coated Li3 FeF6 nanoparticles deliver 122 mA h g^(-1)(85%of theoretical capacity)significantly higher than that of a noncoated sample(58 mA h g^(-1)).Even more,a significant beneficial effect of carbon coating on both capacity retention and coulombic efficiency is observed.

Modeling Bacterial Species: Using Sequence Similarity with Clustering Techniques

Existing studies have challenged the current definition of named bacterial species,especially in the case of highly recombinogenic *** has led to considering the use of computational procedures to examine potential bacterial clusters that are not identified by species *** paper describes the use of sequence data obtained from MLST databases as input for a k-means algorithm extended to deal with housekeeping gene sequences as a metric of similarity for the clustering *** implementation of the k-means algorithm has been developed based on an existing source code implementation,and it has been evaluated against MLST *** point out to potential bacterial clusters that are close to more than one different named species and thus may become candidates for alternative classifications accounting for genotypic *** use of hierarchical clustering with sequence comparison as similarity metric has the potential to find clusters different from named species by using a more informed cluster formation strategy than a conventional nominal variant of the algorithm.

To date,skin wounds are still an issue for healthcare *** numerous approaches have been developed over the years for skin regeneration,recent advances in regenerative medicine offer very promising strategies for the fabrication of artificial skin substitutes,including 3D bioprinting,electrospinning or spraying,among *** particular,skin sprays are an innovative technique still under clinical evaluation that show great potential for the delivery of cells and hydrogels to treat acute and chronic *** sprays present significant advantages compared to conventional treatments for wound healing,such as the facility of application,the possibility to treat large wound areas,or the homogeneous distribution of the sprayed *** this article,we review the latest advances in this technology,giving a detailed description of investigational and currently commercially available acellular and cellular skin spray products,used for a variety of diseases and applying different experimental ***,as skin sprays products are subjected to different classifications,we also explain the regulatory pathways for their commercialization and include the main clinical trials for different skin diseases and their treatment ***,we argue and suggest possible future trends for the biotechnology of skin sprays for a better use in clinical dermatology.

N6-methyladenosine(m6A)is the most abundant modification in eukaryotic messenger RNA.1 This modification is dynamic,reversible,and mediated by proteins characterized as methyltransferases and *** investigations have found that aberrant expression of methyltransferases and demethylases results in m6A dysregulation and,in consequence,affects the biological functions in which this modification is ***,m6A dysregulation affects the development and maintenance of various diseases,including cancer.2 For this reason,we explored the potential role that m6A modification has in invasive breast cancer of no special type(IBC-NST)and its molecular subtypes luminal A,luminal B HER2-,luminal B HER2+,HER2+,and triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)whose degree of global m6A methylation has not yet been studied.

The highly competitive offer of medical training programs and schools,globalization and constant mobility of physicians and medical students(MS),and the commitment to society to deliver competent physicians,demands the definition of performance *** would allow to make their performances comparable no matter where they studied or which textbook did they used as reference,to have evaluation mechanisms that guarantee mastery of the integral evaluation of the *** has been the key in the teaching-learning process as this obtains a formative and summative element,at different moments,from the extent to which the students have acquired knowledge,skills and *** progress of the learner must be enhanced with effective feedback on their performance and self-direction of the results obtained in each of the mechanisms ***,traditionally,this has been considered as the accreditation of compliance with a standard,the evaluation also functions in an integral way as a formative process that identifies advances and deficiencies in the training of residents that allows the definition of actions and strategies for improving the operation of the *** assessment mechanisms are associated with the areas of competence domain,some of the most common tools are:theoretical exams,checklists and rubrics,portfolio,projects and ***,the importance of defining standards which are perceived as fair and designed according to the learning objectives remains a priority to guarantee the credibility of the evaluation agencies and *** strategies to assure credibility include the involvement of expert and trained evaluators,allowing the process to be carried out with transparency and diligence,and the principles employed should be supported by educational research.
