Peripheral refraction of myopic eyes with spectacle lenses correction and lens free emmetropes during accommodation

Purpose:To measure axial and off-axis refraction patterns in myopic eyes with spectacle lenses correction and lens free emmetropes in young healthy subjects at different target distances from 2.00 m(0.50 D)to 0.20 m(5.00 D)in terms of sphere,astigmatism,and spherical equivalent ***:Refraction was measured at the center,20 and 40 degrees from the line of sight both nasally and temporally in 15 emmetropic and 25 myopic young healthy subjects with an open field,binocular,infrared autorefractor(Grand Seiko WAM-5500,Hiroshima,japan).Fixation target was a Maltese cross set at 2.00,0.50,0.33 and 0.20 m from the corneal *** in off-axis refraction with accommodation level were normalized with respect to distance axial values and compared between myopic eyes with spectacle lenses correction and lens free ***:Off-axis refraction in myopic eyes with spectacle lenses correction was significantly more myopic in the temporal retina compared to lens free emmetropes except for the closest target *** off-axis refractive error changed significantly with accommodation when compared to axial refraction particularly in the myopic *** change in the negative direction was due to changes in the spherical component of refraction that became more myopic relative to the center at the 0.20 m distance as the j0 component of astigmatism was significantly reduced in both emmetropes and myopes for the closest ***:Accommodation to very near targets(up to 0.20 m)makes the off-axis refraction of myopes wearing their spectacle correction similar to that of lens free emmetropes.A significant reduction in off-axis astigmatism was also observed for the 0.20 m distance.

Home Energy Management Systems(HEMS)are increasingly relevant for demand-side management at the residential level by collecting data(energy,weather,electricity prices)and controlling home appliances or storage *** control can be performed with classical models that find optimal solutions,with high real-time computational cost,or data-driven approaches,like Reinforcement Learning,that find good and flexible solutions,but depend on the availability of load and generation data and demand high computational resources for *** this work,a novel HEMS is proposed for the optimization of an electric battery operation in a real,online and data-driven environment that integrates state-of-the-art load forecasting combining CNN and LSTM neural networks to increase the robustness of *** Reinforcement Learning agents are trained with different algorithms(Double DQN,Dueling DQN,Rainbow and Proximal Policy Optimization)in order to minimize the cost of electricity purchase and to maximize photovoltaic self-consumption for a PV-Battery residential *** show that the best Reinforcement Learning agent achieves a 35%reduction in total cost when compared with an optimization-based agent.

The minimal U(1)B_L extension of the Standard Model(B-L-SM)offers an explanation for neutrino mass generatio n via a seesaw mechanism;it also offers two new physics states,namely an extra Higgs bos on and a new Z'gauge *** emerge nee of a second Higgs particle as well as a new Z'gauge boson,both lin ked to the breaking of a local U(1)B_L symmetry,makes the B-L-SM rather constrained by direct searches in Large Hadron Collider(LHC)*** investigate the phenomenological status of the B-L-SM by confr on ting the new physics predictions with the LHC and electroweak precision *** into account the current bounds from direct LHC searches,we demonstrate that the prediction for the muon(g-2)u anomaly in the B-L-SM yields at most a contribution of approximately 8.9×10^-12,which represents a tension of 3.28 standard deviations,with the current 1σuncertainty,by means of a Z'boson if its mass is in the range of 6.3 to 6.5 TeV,within the reach of future LHC *** means that the B-L-SM,with heavy yet allowed Z‘bos on mass range,in practice,does not resolve the tension between the observed anomaly in the muon(g-2)u and the theoretical prediction in the Standard *** a heavy Z'boson also implies that the minimal value for the new Higgs mass is of the order of 400 GeV.

INTRODUCTION Seed dispersal is a key process in the life cycle of most plants,with ecological and evolutionary consequences that go beyond vegetation dynamics and cascade to entire ecosystem functioning and stability(Traveset et al.2014).Seed dispersal largely constrains plant recruitment and the distribution of future plant cohorts,thus playing a critical role in the restoration of disturbed sites(Cain et al.2000;Higgins et al.2003).It can also threaten plant diversity by facilitating plant invasions(Vavra et al.2007;Heleno 2020).

Background:Young children are at high risk for developing complications of influenza,as well as severe clinical presentation of *** provides direct protection and reduces symptom severity in breakthrough *** assessed whether adjuvanted trivalent seasonal influenza vaccine is associated with symptom severity in children who developed laboratory-confirmed influenza,as compared to children who received quadrivalent inactivated ***:A cluster randomized controlled trial of influenza vaccines in Canadian Hutterite colonies was conducted from the 2016-2017 to the 2018-2019 influenza *** were vaccinated with either quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine(QIV),or the MF59 adjuvanted trivalent influenza vaccine(aTIV).We assessed children who developed PCR-confirmed influenza infection for symptom severity outcomes using multivariable generalized negative binomial ***:Among vaccinated children,49 infections were observed across 1779 *** formulation(aTIV vs QIV)was not significantly associated with composite symptom outcomes,including total number of symptoms or total duration of symptom presentation(p>0.05 for all outcomes).Receipt of aTIV vaccination was significantly associated with attenuation of fever,with an estimated 74%reduction in fever *** influenza A type infections,adjuvanted vaccination was significantly associated with reduced systemic symptoms(incidence rate ratios:0.16,95%confidence intervals:0.03,0.64,p=0.01).No associations were observed between vaccine formulation and symptom severity in influenza B ***:In vaccinated children who develop an influenza infection,vaccine formulation was associated with attenuated fever severity,leading to reduced systemic *** influenza A infections,adjuvanted vaccination was significantly associated with reduced systemic symptoms.
