Introduction: 68Ga-PSMA-11 is considered the gold standard in detection of micro and oligometastases in advanced prostate cancer, being used for therapeutic planning, as well as, potentially, for evaluating response to treatment. The development of ready-to-use lyophilized kit of PSMA-11 adds quality and safety to the routine use of this radiopharmaceutical and represents a pharmacotechnical challenge as it must preserve the integrity and specificity of the ligand. Methods: PSMA-11 kit formulation was proposed, considering radiolabeling parameters and the preservation of the peptide during the lyophilization process, using mannitol as an excipient. Critical temperature characterization studies were carried out using DSC equipment and the freeze-drying process was developed. The direct radiolabeling conditions were evaluated and standardized using 68Ge/68Ga generator eluate from two different manufacturers (ITG and Eckert & Ziegler). The radiochemical purity was evaluated by TLC and HPLC. Biological evaluation was carried out with lyophilized PSMA-11 to demonstrate the integrity of the peptide and preservation of biological activity after the lyophilization process. Results: Based on critical temperature characterization studies, the freeze-drying cycle was designed to reach a freezing temperature of around −40˚C and primary drying at 2˚C. Using 20 mg of mannitol, an intact and elegant lyophilized cake was obtained. PSMA-11 lyophilized kit was directly labeled with 68Ga eluate from 68Ge/68Ga GMP generators (ITG and Eckert & Ziegler) resulting in % RP > 95% at pH 4.0 to 4.5. The results obtained from in vitro and in vivo biological competition studies confirmed the preservation of PSMA-11 affinity for the receptor after lyophilization. Conclusion: A lyophilized formulation (Kit) of PSMA-11 was successfully obtained, which preserved the integrity and biological activity of the peptide and guaranteed radiolabeling efficiency.

Superficial Angiomyxoma of the Vulva: A Case Report

Superficial angiomyxoma is a rare benign mesenchymal tumor that mainly occurs in the genital region. We report the case of a 51-year-old woman with a painless vulvar mass, well circumscribed on ultrasound. On gross finding, it was a polypoid and bilobed mass, partially encapsulated. On histological examination, it was a proliferation of non-atypical spindle cells with an abundant, myxoid stroma and numerous medium-sized blood vessels. The diagnosis was superficial angiomyxoma. The clinical features do not often lead to the diagnosis of superficial vulvar angiomyxoma. It is based on histological examination and immunohistochemistry is helpful to differentiate it from other myxoid tumors.

Ephedroid macrofossils have been widely documented in Cretaceous deposits,including numerous from the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation of ne ***,few ephedroid macrofossils have been reported from South ***,we describe a new plant of the family Ephedraceae,Arlenea delicata *** ***.,from the Lower Cretaceous Crato Formation of the Araripe Basin,Northeast Brazil,based on the vegetative and reproductive *** has the typical morphological characteristics of ephedroid plants,including fertile reproductive branches,opposite phyllotaxy,terminal female cones,a sympodial branching system,longitudinally striated internodes,and swollen *** new finding is unusual in having inner chlamydosperms subtended by two pairs of bracts,reproductive units connected to branches through swollen receptacles and a smooth seed *** new ephedroid taxon from the Crato Formation increases our understanding of plant diversity of this group during the Early ***,the general morphology(fleshy bracts and enlarged receptacles)of this new fossil discovery indicates that seeds of this plant may have been dispersed by animals such as pterosaurs(mainly the Tapejaridae)and birds(Enantiornithes and Ornituromorpha).If true,this would explain the cosmopolitan distribution of Ephedraceae in the Lower Cretaceous.

Soil Seed Bank Characteristics in Congolese Rainforests and Implications for Post-Logging Plots Reforestation

The soil seed bank is considered as an important mechanism for the natural regeneration, resilience and conservation of the forests after disturbances. This study evaluates the characteristics of the soil seed bank in two post-logging plots of Loundoungou-Toukoulaka Forest Management Unit: one plot exploited in 2008 and another exploited in 2021. In each study plot, 40 samples were collected per soil layer (0 - 5 cm, 5 - 10 cm, 10 - 15 cm, 15 - 20 cm and 20 - 25 cm depth). The species diversity and abundance of the soil seed bank were estimated after soil samples were brought to germination. The results demonstrated that 347 seedlings belonging to 37 species in the plot exploited in 2008 and 418 seedlings belonging to 27 species in that exploited in 2021 germinated during 20 weeks of monitoring. The total densities of the seedlings identified were respectively 1446 seedlings/m2 and 1742 seedlings/m2. The plot exploited in 2021 presented a higher proportion of herbaceous species (93.78%) compared to that exploited in 2008 (82.71%). Two pioneer species were recorded in the plot exploited in 2008. These are Macaranga barteri (0.29%) in the 0 - 5 cm layer and Musanga cecropioides (2.31%) up to 20 cm deep. On the other hand, in the plot exploited in 2021, Macaranga spinosa (0.96%) in the 0 - 5 cm layer and M. cecropioides (0.96%) up to 20 cm deep were identified. In the plot exploited in 2008, the 20 - 25 cm layer demonstrated important proportions in woody species (9%), these are in particular Rubiaceae sp.4 and Nauclea diderrichii. While that exploited in 2021, presented 19% of woody species, namely the species of Rubiaceae sp.4, Rubiaceae sp.5 and N. diderrichii, greatly exceeding the proportions obtained in the 15 - 20 cm layer of the two plots. Invasive Mole of the Uterus: A Case Report

Invasive mole is a rare subgroup of gestational trophoblastic disease characterized by the invasion of molar tissue into the myometrium or uterine vasculature. In this paper, we report the third case of invasive mole described in the Malagasy literature. A 33-year-old woman was referred to the Soavinandriana Hospital, her complaint was persistent vaginal bleeding during 2 months, occurring at 3 months of pregnancy with biological anemia without hemodynamic repercussions. The human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) level was 385,931 mIU/ml. A haemostasis hysterectomy was performed. Histological examination showed an enlarged uterus and endometrial cavity containing edematous chorionic villi with trophoblastic proliferation invading the myometrium. The diagnosis was an invasive mole, stage I, FIGO score 6. Chemotherapy was prescribed but was not honored. After 45 days of follow-up, the serum βHCG level decreased to 1803 mIU/ml, without clinical symptoms. The patient then lost sight. Persistent vaginal bleeding after pregnancy may be the only clinical symptom of an invasive mole and should raise suspicion. Histological examination establishes the diagnosis. As this is an unusual cause of vaginal bleeding, our case should remind physicians that when faced with this symptom, the possibility of an invasive mole should be considered in order to make an early diagnosis for less aggressive treatment.

Background: Healthcare Providers’ knowledge and practice of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) management are essential to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality. PPH is a public health problem due to the high maternal mortality (MM) associated with it worldwide (25%). Improving the quality of PPH management is a major challenge in low-income countries where, despite the progress made in its management, PPH remains a major contributor to maternal morbidity and mortality. Objective: We will evaluate the level of knowledge and practices of providers in the PPH management in Kinshasa in the democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Methods: This study will be descriptive and cross-sectional. The minimum sample size will be 86. Our study population will consist of delivery room care providers. Results will be reported as percentage proportion and mean plus or minus standard deviation. Comparisons of means between groups will be made using Student’s t-test and Pearson’s chi-square test. The test will be statistically significant for a p value 0.05. Data will be collected and processed anonymously and confidentially. Conclusion: Improving quality of care must be a priority in obstetrics. This evaluation requires us to determine the level of knowledge and practices of providers in the PPH management in Kinshasa.

Background: Trichomoniasis is the most common non-viral sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the world, and the occurrence of this infection during pregnancy is responsible for adverse obstetrical outcomes like premature labor, premature rupture of membranes (PROM) and low birth weight (birth weight ners, etc.) that can be found in our environment suggest its probably high prevalence amongst vaginal infections that are responsible for adverse obstetrical outcomes, but up-to-date estimates are lacking. Objective: To assess the obstetrical risk associated with Trichomonas vaginalis (T. vaginalis) infection in our environment. Methods: We designed a protocol for a prospective cohort study which will take place in four medical facilities in the city of Kinshasa, where all pregnant women with a pregnancy of at least 20 weeks and who will give written consent will be included. Vaginal swab specimens will be collected for T. vaginalis research by direct microscopy wet mount. Follow-up will consist of recording the process of the pregnancy and obstetrical outcomes. Conclusion: Results from this study will allow to enhance management and also bring updated estimates on T. vaginalis prevalence and its obstetrical outcomes for infected pregnant woman in our environment.

Cohort Study on Benefit of Martial Supplementation with EDTA Sodium Iron in Management of Gravidic Anemia at the University Clinics of Kinshasa

Background: Anemia is mainly attributed to nutritional deficiency, especially iron deficiency, which predominates during pregnancy, and is associated with parasitic diseases such as malaria and intestinal parasitosis, acute or chronic diseases such as sickle cell disease, tuberculosis, HIV infection and various micronutrients disorders. It is associated with an increased risk of low birth weight and prematurity and can contribute to impaired cognitive development in early childhood, as well as to maternal mortality. The impact on the fetus is even greater if maternal anemia onset is at an early stage, or prior to pregnancy. Iron salts, such as sulfate or fumarate, are widely used in the treatment of gravidic anemia, but due to various gastrointestinal side effects, many pregnant women are not compliant with treatment. Sodium iron EDTA, on the other hand, is highly absorbable and bioavailable. The latter improves hematological values and appears to be free from the usual iron-related side effects, hence compliance with this supplementation. Objectives: To evaluate the evolution of hemoglobin levels after sodium iron EDTA supplementation at the university Clinics of Kinshasa, to determine the frequency of gravidic anemia, the dose-dependent benefit of sodium iron EDTA supplementation in pregnant women and to identify factors associated with insufficient hemoglobin gain after supplementation. Methods: This longitudinal cohort will take place in the gynecology department of the University Clinics of Kinshasa from September 2022 to August 2023 and will include at least 54 pregnant women with anemia. Conclusion: The study will enable us to better assess the benefits of sodium iron EDTA in improving hematological values, as well as its tolerability in pregnant women suffering from anemia during pregnancy in our environment.
