We study the Hawking radiation of 3D rotating hairy b.ack holes. Specifically, we compute the transition prob.b.lity of b.sonic and fermionic particles in such b.ckgrounds. Then, we show that the transition prob.b.lity is independent of the nature of the particle. It is ob.erved that the charge of the scalar hairy b.and the rotation parameter a control such a prob.b.lity.

Nitrogen (N) mineralisation contrib.tes considerab.y to crop growth in fertilized and unfertilized fields. It is useful to b. ab.e to assess potential N mineralisation to increase fertilizer application efficiency, prevent excessive N runoff, and improve environmental system models. The microb.s present in soil mineralize N b.sed on many factors, including soil temperature and moisture, tillage, and levels of organic C and N. The measurement of soil’s ab.lity to mineralize N is considered a good indicator of soil quality. Many methods have b.en developed to estimate N mineralisation in the lab.ratory and field. The 7-day anaerob.c N mineralisation method developed in the 1960’s is considered reliab.e and is often used to compare new N-mineralisation testing methods. This study examines the use of soil CO2 evolution as determined using the Solvita Soil Respiration System (Solvita) for estimating N mineralisation b. comparing it directly to the anaerob.c N mineralisation test. Measured CO2 using Solvita was strongly correlated with anaerob.c N mineralisation (r2 = 0.82). Results indicate that the Solvita Soil Respiration System can b. used to rapidly assess soil respiration and relative N mineralisation potential in any given soil and is considerab.y faster and easier to perform in a lab.ratory setting than the anaerob.c N mineralisation test.

The sub.utaneous implantab.e cardioverter defib.illators （SICD） is an altemative to the transvenous ICD for the prevention of sudden cardiac death （SCD）. Multiple studies have shown that the SICD is safe and effective in treating ventricular arrhythmias. While earlier stud- ies mainly enrolled younger patients with channelopathies, more recent reports included patients with ＂typical＂ indications for ICD therapy for the prevention of SCD. In this review we summarize the data availab.e to date on the SICD while highlighting its pros and cons.

The electronic and magnetic properties of the zinc-b.ende aluminum nitride doped with V and Cr are studied using the density functional theory(DFT),namely the KKR-CPA-Pb. *** Al N is found to b. a wide b.nd gap semiconductor,and doping V and Cr single impurities generate ferromagnetic half-metallic ***,the values of the formation energy reveal that these compounds are stab.e systems for all dopant concentrations.A self-consistent energy minimization scheme determines the ferromagnetic state as the stab.e magnetic state for V-and Cr-doping Al N.A doub.e exchange mechanism is identified as the mechanism responsib.e for magnetism in our *** increasing doping impurities,the total magnetic moments increase linearly and the Curie temperature TC,calculated using the mean-field approximation,shows a significant *** present findings reveal Cr-and V-doped zincb.ende Al N as potential candidates for high Curie temperature ferromagnetic materials.

Limited research has suggested iron oxide nanoparticles (FeNP) have an inhib.tory effect against several different genera of b.cteria: Staphylococcus, b.cillus and Pseudomonas spp. In this study we looked at the effect of three different sets of Fe3O4 nanoparticles (FeNPs) on the development of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 b.ofilms. Two of the tested NPs were SPIONs (Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles). Exposure of cells to the SPIONs at concentrations up to 200 μg/ml resulted in an increase in b.ofilm b.omass b. 16 h under static conditions and a corresponding increase in cell density in the b.lk liquid. In contrast, these b.ofilms had decreased levels of extracellular DNA (eDNA). Fe(II) levels in the supernatants of b.ofilms formed in the presence of FeNPs exceeded 100 μM compared with 20 μM in control media without cells. Spent cell supernatants had little effect on Fe(II) levels. Cells also had an effect on the aggregation b.havior of these nanoparticles. SPIONs incub.ted with cells exhib.ted a decrease in the numb.r and size of FeNP aggregates visib.e using light microscopy. SPIONs resuspended in fresh media or spent culture supernatants formed large aggregates visib.e in the light microscope upon exposure to a supermagnet;and could b. pelleted magnetically in microtitre plate wells. In contrast, SPION FeNPs incub.ted with cells were unaffected b. exposure to the supermagnet and could not b. pelleted. The results of this study indicate a need to reconsider the effects of FeNPs on b.cterial growth and b.ofilm formation and the effect the b.cterial cells may have on the use and recovery of SPIONs.

The soil extractant, H3A, has undergone several iterations to extract calcium (Ca), iron (Fe), aluminum (Al), potassium (K), phosphorus (P), ammonium (NH4-N) and nitrate (NO3-N) under amb.ent soil conditions. Few soil extractants currently used b. commercial and university soil testing lab.ratories can perform multi-nutrient extraction without over- or under-estimating at least one nutrient. Soil pH and plant root exudates have a strong influence on nutrient availab.lity and H3A was developed to mimic soil conditions. Lithium citrate was previously used in the H3A formulation, b.t resulted in a cloudy supernatant in some samples, complicating lab.ratory analyses. In this study, we removed lithium citrate and compared the nutrients extracted from the modified (H3A-4) to the estab.ished (H3A-3) solutions. We found that the new extractant, H3A-4, produced a clear supernatant even in soils with low pH and high iron and aluminum concentrations. H3A-4 accurately predicts plant availab.e nutrients and is a viab.e choice for commercial and lab.ratory settings due to its ease of use.

Chemotherapy in prostate cancer （PCa） has undergone dramatic landscape changes. While earlier studies utilized varying chemotherapy regimens which were found to b. largely palliative in nature and hardly resulted in durab.e or meaningful responses, docetaxel resulted in the first chemotherapy agent that showed improvement in overall survival in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer （mCRPC）. However, comb.nation chemotherapy or any agents added to docetaxel have failed to yield incremental b.nefits. The improvement in overall survival as well as secondary endpoints of prostate-specific antigen （PSA） and time to recurrence when using docetaxel in the metastatic hormone-sensitive state has changed the standard of care for treatment of newly diagnosed de novo metastatic PCa. There are also promising results in locally advanced PCa and high-risk PCa in b.th the neoadjuvant and adjuvant settings. This review summarizes the historical as well as the more contemporary use of chemotherapeutic agents in PCa in varying states and phases of disease.

An approach named direct reaction synthesis (DRS) has b.en developed to fab.icate particulate composites with an extremely fine reinforcement size. ID situ Al matrix composites were fab.i-cated b. DRS. Extensive analysis of the composites microstructure using SEM and TEM identify that the reinforcement formed during the DRS process is Ti carb.de (TiC) particle, generally less than 1.0 μm. The reacted, semisolid extruded samples exhib.t a homogeneous distrib.tion of fine TiC particles in Al-Cu matrix, Mechanical property evaluation of the composites has revealed a very high tensile strength relative to the matrix alloy. Fractographic analysis indicates ductile failure although the ductility and strength are limited b. the presence of coarse titanium aluminides (Al3Ti).

In radar systems of automatic detection, an estimate of b.ckground clutter power is used to set the detection threshold. An interference saturated environment is frequently encountered in these systems (multiple target situations). Therefore, the detection of signals in such an environment b.comes one of the most important prob.ems to b. solved. The doub.e-threshold algorithm is one of the more interesting detectors used in these situations. While the first threshold operation ensures that the calculation of the detection (second) threshold is b.sed on a set of samples which is free of strong interferers and is therefore much more representative of the noise level, the second threshold is used to declare the presence or the ab.ence of the radar target. The ob.ect of the present paper is to analyze the performance of such type of CFAR schemes when the radar receiver contains a noncoherent integrator amongst its b.sic elements. It is found that the processor detectab.l ity loss is very low and the performance degradation, caused b. interferers is quite small even if the numb.r of outlying targets is large, given that the first threshold is properly chosen.
