High-grade pancreatic intraepithelial lesions： prevalence and implications in pancreatic neoplasia

BAcKGROUND： High-grade pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia（Pan IN-3）, a precursor of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma（PDAc）, is not universally detected in resected pancreatic neoplasms. We sought to determine the prevalence and prognostic relevance of Pan IN-3 lesions in primary surgical resections of PDAcs and intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms（IPmNs）.mETHODs： A retrospective review of a tertiary care center pathology database（1/2000-6/2014） was performed. Demographics, imaging, pathology, disease-recurrence, and survival data were ***： A total of 458 patients who underwent primary pancreatic resection were included. “Pan IN-3” lesions were found in 74（16.2%） patients who either had PDAc（n=67） or main duct（mD）-IPmN（n=7）. Among IPmN-mDs, Pan IN-3 lesions were exclusively found in those with pathological evidence of chronic pancreatitis. For PDAcs, the median overall survival（Os） for pancreata with Pan IN-3 lesions was significantly better than those without（Os 1.12 years, interquartile range [IQR] 0.72, 2.05 years vs Os 0.86 years, IQR 0.64,1.60 years respectively; P=0.04）. multivariate cox regression analysis demonstrated that the presence of Pan IN-3 lesions was associated with a reduced risk of death（HR=0.43; 95% cI： 0.23-0.82; P=0.01）.cONcLUsIONs： Following primary resection of pancreatic adenocarcinoma, the lower survival observed in patients without Pan IN-3 lesions might suggest a state of complete or accelerated transformation. Further investigations are necessary to validate these findings that might impact disease prognosis and management.

The main purpose of this paper is to obtain estimates of parameters, reliability and hazard rate functions of a heterogeneous population represented by finite mixture of two general components. The doubly Type II censoring of generalized order statistics scheme is used. maximum likelihood and Bayes methods of estimation are used for this purpose. The two methods of estimation are compared via a monte carlo simulation study.

DIsLOcATION DIssOcIATIONs AND FAULTENERGIEs IN Ni_3Al ALLOYs DOPED WITH PALLADIUm

Dislocation structures in polycrystalline Ni 3Al alloy doped with palladium deformed at room temperature have been investigated by transmission electron microscopy. The structure consists mainly of dislocations dissociated into a /2〈011〉 super partials bounding an anti phase boundary (APB). Dislocations dissociated into a /3〈112〉 super shockley partials bounding a superlattice intrinsic stacking fault (sIsF) are also common debris. The majority of the sIsFs are truncated loops, i.e. the partials bounding the sIsF are of similar Burgers vector. These faulted loops are generated from APB coupled dislocations, according to a mechanism for formation of sIsFs proposed by suzuki et al , and recently modified by chiba et al . The APB energies for {111} and {010} slip planes are measured to be 144±20 mJ/m 2 and 102±11 mJ/m 2 respectively, and the sIsF energy has been estimated to be 12 mJ/m 2 in this alloy. It is concluded that the dislocation structure in Ni 74.5 Pd 2Al 23.5 alloy deformed at room temperature is similar to that in binary Ni 3Al, and the difference in fault energies between these two alloys is small. Thus, it seems unlikely that the enhancement of ductility of Ni 74.5 Pd 2Al 23.5 results from only such a small decrease of the ordering energy of the alloy. sIsF bounding dislocations also have no apparent influence on the ductilization of Ni 74.5 Pd 2Al 23.5 alloy.

Green macroalgae,e.g.,Ulva lactuca,are valuable bioactive sources of nutrients;but algae recalcitrant cell walls,composed of a complex cross-linked matrix of polysaccharides,can compromise their utilization as feedstuffs for monogastric *** study aimed to evaluate the ability of pre-selected carbohydrate-Active enZymes(cAZymes)and sulfatases to degrade *** cell walls and release nutritive compounds.A databank of 199 recombinant cAZymes and sulfatases was tested in vitro for their action towards *** cell wall *** enzymes were incubated with the macroalga,either alone or in combination,to release reducing sugars and decrease fluorescence intensity of calcofluor White stained cell *** individual action of a polysaccharide lyase family 25(PL25),an ulvan lyase,was shown to be the most efficient in cell wall *** ulvan lyase treatment,in triplicate measures,promoted the release of 4.54 g/L(Pcing sugars,a mono-and oligosaccharides release of 11.4 and 11.2 mmol/100 g of dried alga(Pspectively,and a decrease of 41.7%(Pcell wall fluorescence,in comparison to *** ability of ulvan lyase treatment to promote the release of nutritional compounds from alga biomass was also evaluated.A release of some monounsaturated fatty acids was observed,particularly the health beneficial 18:1c9(Psignificant release of total fatty acids(P>0.05),proteins(P?0.861)or pigments(P>0.05)was *** results highlight the capacity of a single recombinant ulvan lyase(PL25 family)to incompletely disrupt *** cell *** enzyme could enhance the bioaccessibility of *** bioactive products with promising utilization in the feed industry.

Delayed Ionization and Delayed Detachment in molecules and clusters

The evolution of a molecular system excited above its ionization threshold depends on a number of parameters that include the nature of the excited states and their couplings to the various continua. The general nature of the processes governing this evolution depends also essentially on the complexity of the molecule, more precisely on its size, density of states, and strength of the couplings among the various internal degrees of freedom. In this paper we address the question of the transition between autoionization that prevails in small molecules, and delayed ionization occurring in larger molecules or clusters. This transition is illustrated by autoionization of Na2 Rydberg states on one hand, delayed ionization in fullerene c60, and delayed detachment in small cluster anions on the other hand. All processes are studied in the case of nanosecond laser excitation, corresponding to a rather slow deposition of the internal energy.

Rapid visualization of latent fingerprints using novel casiO_3:sm^(3+) nanophosphors fabricated via ultrasound route

Latent fingerprints (LFPs) were the most significant identification method for individualization. most commonly available fingerprints (FPs) in crime spot investigation were latent and patent types. Generally,LFPs were invisible and thus the effective visualization technique necessitates for the analysis of such FPs. In the past years, many traditional visualization techniques have been employed, but suffered with low resolution, sensitivity, contrast and high background noise. To overcome such limitations, we synthesized sm^(3+) doped casiO_3 nanophosphors (NPs) via an ultrasound irradiation route using mimosa pudica (m. p.)leaves extract as a bio-surfactant. The morphological behavior of the prepared samples was extensively studied by varying the concentration of the m. p. extract, ultrasound irradiation duration, pH level of the precursor solution and sonication power. The photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra exhibit characteristic peaks at～561,601 and 647 nm, which were attributed to^5G_(5/2)→~6H_J(J=5/2,7/2 and 9/2) transitions of sm^(3+) *** Judd-Ofelt(J-O) intensity parameters and other radiative properties were estimated using PL data. The commission International de I'Eclairage (cIE) color coordinates were positioned in orange-red region shows average correlated color temperature (ccT) value of～3576 K. The optimized samples can be used as a labeling agent for the visualization of LFPs on various porous and non-porous surfaces under normal light irradiation. The visualized FPs reveals well defined ridge characteristics, namely whorl, loop,arch, bifurcation, eye, island, bridge, sweat pores, etc, with high sensitivity, selectivity, low contrast and background hindrance. Aforementioned results evidence that the prepared casiO_3:sm^(3+) NPs were promising luminescent materials for solid state lighting and forensic applications.

In recent years,deep learning methods have been introduced for segmentation and classi-fication of leaf lesions caused by pests and *** the commonly used approaches,convolutional neural networks have provided results with high *** purpose of this work is to present an effective and practical system capable of seg-menting and classifying different types of leaf lesions and estimating the severity of stress caused by biotic agents in coffee leaves using convolutional neural *** proposed approach consists of two stages:a semantic segmentation stage with severity calculation and a symptom lesion classification *** stage was tested separately,highlighting the positive and negative points of each *** obtained very good results for the severity estimation,suggesting that the model can estimate severity values very close to the real *** the biotic stress classification,the accuracy rates were greater than 97%.Due to the promising results obtained,an App for Android platform was developed and imple-mented,consisting of semantic segmentation and severity calculation,as well as symptom classification to assist both specialists and farmers to identify and quantify biotic stresses using images of coffee leaves acquired by smartphone.

KOH activated carbon derived from biomass-banana fibers as an efficient negative electrode in high performance asymmetric supercapacitor

Here we demonstrate the fabrication, electrochemical performance and application of an asymmetric supercapacitor (As) device constructed with ss-Ni(OH)(2)/mWcNTs as positive electrode and KOH activated honeycomb-like porous carbon (K-Pc) derived from banana fibers as negative electrode. Initially, the electrochemical performance of hydrothermally synthesized ss-Ni(OH)(2)/mWcNTs nanocomposite and K-Pc was studied in a three-electrode system using 1 m KOH. These materials exhibited a specific capacitance (cs) of 1327 Fig and 324 F/g respectively at a scan rate of 10 mV/s. Further, the As device i.e., ss-Ni(OH)(2)/mWcNTs// K-Pc in 1 m KOH solution, demonstrated a cs of 156 F/g at scan rate of 10 mV/s in a broad cell voltage of 0-2.2 V. The device demonstrated a good rate capability by maintaining a cs of 59 F/g even at high current density (25 A/g). The device also offered high energy density of 63 Wh/kg with maximum power density of 5.2 kW/kg. The As device exhibited excellent cycle life with 100% capacitance retention at 5000th cycle at a high current density of 25 A/g. Two As devices connected in series were employed for powering a pair of LEDs of different colors and also a mini fan.
