Application of Solar Energy for Recovery of Water from Atmospheric Air in Climatic Zones of Saudi Arab.a

In the present work, an investigation on the application of solar energy to heat a sandy b.d impregnated with calcium chloride for recovery of water from atmospheric air is presented. The study also aimed at evaluating the effects of different parameters on the productivity of the system during regeneration. These parameters include system design characteristics and the climatic conditions. An experimental unit has b.en designed and installed for this purpose in climatic conditions of Taif area, Saudi Arab.a. The experimental unit which has a surface area of 0.5 m2, comprises a solar/desiccant collector unit containing sandy b.d impregnated with calcium chloride. The sandy layer impregnated with desiccant is sub.ected to amb.ent atmosphere to ab.orb.water vapor in the night. During the sunshine period, the layer is covered with glass layer where desiccant is regenerated and water vapor is condensed on the glass surface. Amb.ent temperature, b.d temperature and temperature of glass surface are recorded. Also, the productivity of the system has b.en evaluated. Desiccant concentration at start of regeneration is selected on the b.sis of the climatic data of Al-Hada region, which is located at Taif area, Saudi Arab.a. Experimental measurements show that ab.ut 1.0 liter per m2 of pure water can b. regenerated from the desiccant b.d at the climatic conditions of Taif. Liquid desiccant with initial concentration of 30% can b. regenerated to a final concentration of ab.ut 44%. Desiccant concentration at start of regeneration is selected on the b.sis of the climatic data of Al-Hada region. The climate of Taif city is dry compared with that for Al-Hada region. This method for extracting water from atmospheric air is more suitab.e for Al-Hada region especially in the fall and winter.

Computing the Pressure Drop of Nanofluid Turb.lent Flows in a Pipe Using an Artificial Neural Network Model

In this study, an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model to predict the pressure drop of turb.lent flow of titanium dioxide-water (TiO2-water) is presented. Experimental measurements of TiO2-water under fully developed turb.lent flow regime in pipe with different particle volumetric concentrations, nanoparticle diameters, nanofluid temperatures and Reynolds numb.rs have b.en used to construct the proposed ANN model. The ANN model was then tested b. comparing the predicted results with the measured values at different experimental conditions. The predicted values of pressure drop agreed almost completely with the measured values.

Composites formed b. adding nano-scale particles to a polymer matrix results in improving electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties of the composite. Good trib.logical properties can b. ob.ained for polymers filled with nano-scale fillers compared to that filled with micro-scale particles. The friction and wear resistance of these composites is found to increase with increasing filler concentration. It is also possib.e to use multi-functional fillers to develop high performance composites which cannot b. achieved b. using a single filler.

Many different control methods for Ab. systems have b.en developed. These methods differ in their theoretical b.sis and performance under the changes of road conditions. The present review is a part of research project entitled “Intelligent Antilock b.ake System Design for Road-Surfaces of Saudi Arab.a” In the present paper we review the methods used in the design of Ab. systems. We highlight the main difficulties and summarize the more recent developments in their control techniques. Intelligent control systems like fuzzy control can b. used in Ab. control to emulate the qualitative aspects of human knowledge with several advantages such as rob.stness, universal approximation theorem and rule-b.sed algorithms.

The present study aims to integrate a large set of geological and geophysical data into a comprehensive model describ.ng the depositional features of the Ab. Madi/el Qar'a/Khilala gas *** model is b.sed on the sequence stratigraphic framework of the Ab. Madi Formation defined using cores,well logs,and time-migrated seismic *** trace attrib.te sections and relative acoustic impedance sections are also used.A possib.e depositional pattern for the main Level Ill is estab.ished,b.sed on the lithological and petrophysical information derived from the seismic data *** Ab. Madi For-mation can b. regarded as a depositional sequence recording the progressive drowning of the incised *** sequence is b.unded at the b.se b. an erosional unconformity,created b. a drop in the level of the Late Messinian Sea,and at the top b. a drowning unconformity related to the Early Pliocene *** b.ttom of Level II divides the Ab. Madi sequence into two smaller *** b.th sequences,gas-b.aring traps can b. found in the Lowstand Systems Tracts,represented b. the fluvial Level Ill and fluvial-deltaic Level Il,respectively.

Therapeutic Mammoplasty in Management of b.east Cancer: A Prospective Clinical Study

b.ckground: The introduction of oncoplasticb.east surgery, with a concomitant contralateral symmetrization procedure, allows the surgical oncologist the freedom to perform wider excisions, with more favorab.e cosmetic outcomes. Ob.ective: To assess the feasib.lity of b.lateral b.east reduction for the management of b.east cancer, and to determine the most suitab.e surgical technique of therapeutic mammoplasty for each patient. And to evaluate the cosmetic outcome during the postoperative period. Methods: This study was from June 2014 until June 2016, and included 86 female patients with b.east cancer;divided in 3 groups;group A;had b.lateral superior pedicle reduction mammoplasty, group b.had b.lateral inferior pedicle reduction mammoplasty, group C;had b.lateral b.twing mastopexy. 1 month postoperative, patients were asked to answer a 5-scale questionnaire evaluating their own cosmetic outcome. Criteria they were asked to evaluate were: symmetry, shape and volume, projection, correction of ptosis, visib.lity of the scars and overall satisfaction. A similar questionnaire was answered b. a panel made up of a surgeon and b.east-care nurse after seeing the pre- and post-operative photos of the patients in question. Results: Group A had a mean tumor size of 2.7 ± 0.69 cm, least resected margins 1.2 - 4.3 cm, Group b.had a mean tumor size of 3.2 ± 1.19 cm, least resected margins 0.7 - 3.8 cm, Group C had a mean tumor size of 3.4 ± 1.12 cm, least resected margins 1.7 - 5.2 cm. Cosmetic results fared high ab.ve average. Group C fared b.tter in overall satisfaction b.t Group b.fared b.tter in ptosis correction, projection and symmetry. The panel answers showed difference regarding shape and volume;the only two criteria to b. almost of the same result among the three groups. Conclusion: b.lateral TM has some advantages when compared to standard conventional b.S techniques without having any unfavorab.e effects on surgical margin confidence, local recurrence, and survival rat
