Efficiency of Bio-Fertilizing as One of the Natural Alternatives to Improve the Growth of Khaya senegalensis.a.d swietenia mahagoni Trees.a.d for sus.a.nability

A field experiment was carried out at Is.a.lia Res.a.ch s.a.ion, Is.a.lia Governorate from 2020-2022 to improve the growth of Khaya senegalensis.a.d swietenia mahagoni by using a combination of mineral fertilizer (NPK) and biological fertilizer (Azotobacter chroococcum, Bacillus megatherium, and Bacillus circulant) as recommended dose under new sandy soils conditions. split plot designed with four treatments (Control, (50% Mineral fertilizer (M.) + 50% Biological fertilizer (Bio.)), 100% M. and 100% Bio.) of each species. Vegetative growth, leaf area, tree biomass, stored carbon, basal area, tree volume, and in the soil both of microbial account and mineral content were determined. The experimental results showed no significant differences between studied species.a.ong the most studied parameters except for Khaya senegalensis which gave the highest significant difference in root biomass.a.d below-stored carbon than swietenia mahagoni. Evidently, the highest significant growth parameters were 100% mineral fertilizer followed by (50% M. + 50% Bio.) as compared with control. No significant difference between 100% M. and (50% M. + 50% Bio.) of shoot dry biomass (15.19 and 12.02 kg, respectively) and above-stored carbon (0.28 and 0.22 Mt, respectively). Microbial account and mineral content in soil were improved after cultivation of tree species compared to before planting and control, especially with 50% mineral fertilizer and 50% bio-fertilizer treatment. In conclusion, a treatment containing 50% mineral fertilizer and 50% bio-fertilizer has led to the ideal Khaya senegalensis.a.d swietenia mahagoni growth in sandy soil for cheaper and sus.a.nable.

Modelling the monthly hydrological balance using soil and Water Assessment Tool(s.a.)model:A case study of the Wadi Mina upstream watershed

Modelling the hydrological balance in semi-arid zones is essential for effective water resource management,encompassing both surface water and *** study aims to model the monthly hydrological water cycle in the Wadi Mina upstream watershed(northwest Algeria)by applying the soil and Water Assessment Tool(s.a.)hydrological *** modelling integrates s.a.ial data such as the Digital elevation Model(DEM),land use,soil types.a.d various meteorological parameters including precipitation,maximum and minimum temperatures,relative humidity,solar radiation and wind *** s.a. model was calibrated and validated using data from January 2012 to December 2014,with a calibra-tion period from January 2012 to August 2013 and a validation period from september 2013 to December *** and parameter calibration were conducted using the s.a.-sA program,and model performance evaluation relied on comparing the observed discharge at the outlet of the basin with model-simulated discharge,assessed through s.a.istical coefficients including Nash-sutcliffe Efficiency(NsE),coefficient of determination(R2)and Percent Bias(PBAIs).Calibration results indicated favourable objec-tive function values(NsE=0.79,R2=0.93,PBAIs=-8.53%),although a slight decrease was observed during validation(NsE=0.69,R2=0.86,and PBAIs=-11.41%).The application of the s.a. model to the Wadi Mina upstream watershed highlighted its utility in simulating the s.a.ial distribution of different components of the hydrological balance in this *** s.a. model revealed that approximately 71%of the precipitation in the basin evaporates,while only 29%contributes to surface runoff or infiltration into the soil.

The aim of our study was to explore the antioxidant potential of Moroccan saffron stigmas(ss) and examine their performance as.a.natural antioxidant in enhancing the s.a.ility and quality properties of edible sunflower oil(sO), with a focus on unders.a.ding the critical importance of edible oil s.a.ility for predicting quality deterioration during storage. Bearing this in mind, our res.a.ch was designed to compare the efficacy of three concentrations of dried ss.a. 0.2%, 0.3%, and 0.6%) against tocobiol(a synthetic antioxidant) as.a.positive control(at 0.3% concentration). This comparison was conducted under three distinct storage conditions namely accelerated ageing(60 ℃), exposure to light at ambient temperature, and darkness, to evaluate their impact on preventing severe oxidation and extending oil shelf-life. Oxidation s.a.e evolution was evaluated through peroxide value(PV), free fatty acid(FFA), anisidine value(p-AV), K_(270)value(conjugated trienes), total oxidation index(TOTOX), iodine value(IV), and fatty acid composition(FA). Our results revealed notable differences in s.a.ility tracking parameters. specifically, these parameters were higher in samples stored under accelerated conditions, followed by the samples stored in ambient light, while those stored in darkness showed the highest s.a.ility among the three storage conditions. supplementation of sunflower oil with ss.a.d tocobiol significantly enhanced its oxidation s.a.ility. Notably, ss exhibited exceptional effectiveness in s.a.ilizing sunflower oil regardless of ss dose, with the highest efficacy observed at 0.6%. This was evidenced by the slower rate of oxidation parameters under various storage conditions, highlighting a superior antioxidant activity compared to both the non-enriched oil and tocobiol-enriched oil. Furthermore, saffron stigmas, used as.a.natural supplement,contributed to the preservation of polyunsaturated fatty acids, indicating its potential as.a.robust source of natural antioxi

Physical and Dielectric Properties of some Nonionic surfactants

Fatty acid esters have been prepared by reacting the acid C//1//8 with polyethylene glycols having varying numbers of oxyethylene units (4-88 units) by the direct esterification reaction method. surface and interfacial tensions were studied at various experimental conditions, including, concentration, temperature and chemical constitution of the surfactant. Critical micelle concentrations (CMC), surface excess.a.d residual area occupied by each surface active agent molecule A have been calculated by using Gibb's equations. CMC values range from 10 to 55 multiplied by 10** minus **5 mole/L for all studied agents, while the residual area occupied by each molecule varies from 0.6 to 1.5 nm**2. Variation of CMC of some of these agents with temperature have been also examined and the obtained data were used to calculate the heat of micellization delta H//m and the entropy change during micellization delta s//m. Values of delta H//m vary from 14.63 kJ/mole to 2.717 kJ/mole depending on the chemical constitution of the agent under consideration. In Vitro Antioxidant and Radio Protective Activities of Lycopene from Tomato Extract against Radiation—Induced DNA Aberration

Background: The accumulation of free radicals is linked to a number of dis.a.es. Free radicals can be s.a.enged by antioxidants.a.d reduce their harmful effects. It is therefore essential to look for naturally occurring antioxidants that come from plants, as synthetic antioxidants.a.e toxic, carcinogenic and problematic for the environment. Lycopene is one of the carotenoids, a pigment that dissolves in fat and has.a.tioxidant properties. Materials.a.d Methods: The antioxidant and free radical s.a.enging activity were assessed using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) as.a.. The impact of lycopene on bacteria (E. coli) susceptibility to γ-radiation was examined by radio sensitivity as.a.. The study also examined the induction of strand breaks in plasmid pUC19 DNA and how lycopene extract protected the DNA from γ-radiation in vitro. Results: At varying concentrations, lycopene demonstrated its.a.ility to s.a.enge free radicals such as 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). ICsub>50sub> for lycopene was determined at 112 μg/mL which was.a.most partial to ICsub>50sub> of s.a.dard antioxidant L-ascorbic acid. The Dsub>10sub> value 180 Gy of E. coli was found to be >2-fold higher in the extract-containing lycopene sample than in the extract-free controls. The lycopene extracts inhibited the radiation-induced deterioration of the plasmid pUC19 DNA. At an ICsub>50sub> concentration, lycopene provided the highest level of protection. Conclusion: Lycopene functions.a. an efficient free radical s.a.enger and possible natural antioxidant source. For cancer patients.a.d others who frequently expose themselves to radiation, lycopene may be a useful plant-based pharmaceutical product for treating a variety of dis.a.es caused by free radicals.
