The development of orogenic belts structures in the Southern-Central Tunisian Atlas is influenced by the evolution of tectonic activities during different phases,which are also closely linked to the formation of gravitational collapse *** typical example is that of the northern flank of the Jebel Orbata particularly the Ben Zannouch *** is an asymmetrical anticline interpreted by the model of“Fault Propagation Folds”.The development of the Ben Zannouch structures is resulted from landslides,scree falls and inverted layers plunging to the *** direction of resulted gravitational structure is parallel to the main thrust direction of the Bou Omrane *** thrust activity of Bou Omrane fault is associated to the important paleo-slope facing south and plastic lithology(incompetent marl layers)of outcropped series,facilitates the development of the Ben Zannouch Flap *** definition of gravitational collapse structures for the first time in Tunisia particularly in the northern flank of the Jebel Orbata is controlled by many principal structural conditions:fragmentation of the landslide surfaces,rheology and *** regional factors can be distinguished in the Southern-Central Tunisian Atlas as the seismic activity of the pre-existing Gafsa fault reactivated during compressive phases and the weather conditions during the postglacial period.

Comparative Evaluation of the Chemical Composition and Physical Properties of Reinforced Concrete Steel Bars Used in Construction in Senegal

This article presents, the study of a comparative evaluation of the chemical composition and physical properties, linear mass deviations, of four (04) types of steel used in the construction sector in Senegal. Type 1 (E1), Type 2 (E2) and Type 3 (E3) steels are produced by locally established companies and Type 4 (E4) witness bars are imported from the France. The chemical analyses of the different types of steel were carried out by combustion, infrared (IR) detection for carbon and sulfur, by reducing fusion for nitrogen and by optical emission spectrometer (SEO) for the rest of the elements. The composition was determined on bars with a diameter of 10 mm. Linear mass deviations were evaluated for steels with a diameter of 8 mm, 10 mm and 12 mm. The results of the chemical analyses showed that the limit value for the percentage of carbon was exceeded by 29.16% for the steel, type 3. For the other types (1, 2 and 4), the limit values set out in the French standard NF EN 10,080 are not exceeded. As regards the relative differences in mass, the results showed that for steels of local manufacture, all the samples of bars with diameters 10 and 12 mm and 33% of steels with diameters 8 mm do not comply with the standard. The results also indicate that the chemical composition and relative linear mass deviations of the steels, type 4 comply with the standard. Thus, locally manufactured steels are not always suitable for use in reinforced concrete constructions.

Geochemical constraints and uranium potential of the younger granitic rocks in el Maghrbia area, Central Eastern Desert, Egypt

The present work deals with the mineralogy,geochemical behavior and uranium potentiality of the monzogranites of el Maghrbia area,which comprise *** Maghrbia and *** Eredyia and situated in the central Eastern Desert of ***-Erediya monzogranites represents a promising area for uranium *** granites have shear zone filled with red and black silica veins containing many radioactive anomalies with visible yellow secondary uranium *** shear zone is highly affected by different degrees of alterations such as silicification,kaolinitization,sassuritization and *** of el-Erediya area possess higher values of their radioactivity than in el Maghrbia monzogranites in which eU and eTh,reaches up to 792.3 and 66.81 ppm,whilst average content of eU and eTh in el Maghrabia granites are 3.86 and 8.55 ppm,respectively owing to the presence of radioactive minerals such as uraninite,uranothorite,uranophane,kasolite,betafite,zircon and *** geochemical analyses indicated that,the studied monzogranites are distinctly anomalous in U,where the average U is more than 620-fold the Upper Continental Crust(UCC),marked enrichment(> tenfold) of the elements Cd,Mo,Pb,Bi,Nb and *** Th/U ratio decreases from 2.8,as a chondritic value,to 0.0023 for the studied granites,proposing extreme fractionation towards an extensive secondary migration-in of *** Zr and Hf are depleted in the studied granites relative to the UCC,whereas Nb and Ta are strongly *** content of Y is about sixfold enriched which reflects relative enhancement of the HREE during the alteration *** correlates with Fe_(2)O_(3),suggesting a possible association between uranium and ***,the occurrences of uranium are epigenetic by remobilization from the host rock to the sheared zones,probably through metasomatic process where U-Fe-Mg replaced the feldspars in an oxidized *** high levels of radioactivity in the rocks

Trend and Return Level Analysis of Extreme Rainfalls in Senegal

In recent years, Senegal has been confronted with increasingly frequent and damaging extreme events. In the context of climate change, we conducted this study to characterize the trends of rainfall extremes in Senegal. In this work, we used daily rainfall data from 27 stations in Senegal from the period 1951 to 2005 (55 years). To study their linear trends, non-stationary extreme value models with time as a covariate are fitted to evaluate them. Our results indicate a decreasing trend of extreme rainfalls at most of the stations except for 5 stations. However, the decreasing trends are only significant for two stations (Thiès and Kidira), however, this can only be taken as information that climate change may have already impacted extreme rainfalls. For the 20-year and 30-year return periods, the results show that they have undergone changes, in fact for almost all stations, the trends in return periods are decreasing.

Dosage of Some Chemical Substances in Two Plant Species: Alysicarpus ovalifolius (Sch. and Th.) and Indigofera pilosa (Poir)

The content of chemical compounds of two leguminous plants (Alysicarpus ovalifolius and Indigofera pilosa) was given through chromatographic methods (HPLC) and spectrocolorimetry. The principal isolated compounds are: β-Carotene in the sheets, the vitamin B in the roots and the vitamin C in the pods. Trace elements are not also insulated in the two plant species. The results show a content iodine (0.27 mg/100g of sample) particularly high in the stems of Indigofera pilosa, what could explain the use of the plant to fight against the thyroid dysfunctions. The ratio iron in mg/100g of sample 114.14 is rather important and would make Indigofera pilosa a palliative against anaemia. The two plants would be indicated in cases of treatment of hypocalcaemia.

Larvicidal activity of Neem oil and three plant essential oils from Senegal against Chrysodeixis chalcites(Esper, 1789)

Objective: To evaluate the insecticide, larvicidal and repellent activity of the essential oils from Callistemon viminalis, Melaleuca leucadendron, and Hyptis suaveolens against Chrysodeixis chalcites and to compare it with neem oil(Azadirachta indica). Methods: The essential oils of the leaves of these aromatiques plants were extracted by steam distillation and contacts tests were carried out. Results: Essential oils in ethanol from Callistemon viminalis showed a higher biological activity than the neem with 100% larval mortality at the concentration of 2 μg/m L for 6 h, 100% and 90% in ethanol from Melaleuca leucadendron and Hyptis suaveolens, respectively at the concentration of 4 μg/m L for 24 h. By inhalation, the essential oils from Melaleuca leucadendron and of Hyptis suaveolens were more effective with mortality rates of larvae 100% and 50% respectively at 2 μg/L air applied after 24 h. Nevertheless, the neem has shown to be a repulsive plant and anti-nutritional plant. A significant difference in the percentages of consumption between leaves treated with neem oil and the control samples was observed(Newman-Keuls test) except for Melaleuca leucadendron. Conclusions: The results of the study highlight remarkable biocide, properties of tested extracts, which provides important opportunities for the development of biopesticides.

Practice of Screening for Precancerous Cervical Lesions in Koumpentoum Health District (Senegal)

Introduction: Cervical cancer is preventable through vaccination against papillomaviruses and screening for precancerous lesions. The objective of this study was to determine the frequency of screening practice and to identify associated factors. Methods: This was a cross-sectional descriptive and analytical study. Data were collected from individual interviews during household surveys. Data collection took place from (1st) to (30th) September (2021). The following were explored: socio-demographic characteristics, knowledge, attitudes and practices of women regarding screening. Results: A total of (294) women aged between (18) and (69) years were included. The mean age was (35.79) years (±9.81). The median age was (34) years. The frequency of screening was (16%);that of precancerous lesions was (4.26%). Factors statistically and significantly associated with screening uptake were cervical cancer information (OR = 5.42 (1.27 - 23.16);p = 0.003), knowledge of the availability of screening (ORa = 7.73 (3.01 - 18.51);p - 7.31);p = 0.014). Conclusion: Frequency of pre-cancerous lesions of cervical cancer is high in Koumpentoum health district (4.26%), while the practice of screening is low there (16%). The factors associated with this low performance are related to a lack of adequate knowledge of women about cervical cancer.

Positive Surgical Margins (PSM) after Open Retropubic Radical Prostatectomy: Evaluation of Patient Survival

Background: Many patients who have had radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer may present with microscopic extraprostatic extension of the disease. Positive surgical margins are a common pathological finding in this subgroup of patients. To report the epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic aspects of PSM after radical prostatectomy (RP) and to evaluate the follow-up of patients. Patients and methods: A single-center retrospective descriptive study of patients who underwent radical prostatectomy between June 1, 2004 and December 31, 2019 was conducted. Patients who had radical prostatectomy with PSM on pathology report were included. The parameters studied were age, initial prostate specific antigen (PSA), Gleason and International Society of Uropathology (ISUP) scores, cTNM and pTNM stages, operative technique, PSA levels after surgery, adjuvant treatment and patient survival. Results: Eighty-six (86) radical prostatectomies were performed. PSM was found in 23 patients (26.7%). The mean age of the patients was 63.7 ± 6.1 years. The mean preoperative total PSA was 31.5 ng/mL (6.31 - 146 ng/mL). Prostate biopsy showed only prostatic adenocarcinoma. Thoracic-abdominopelvic CT was performed in all patients. Prostate cancers were found at the localized stage in 12 patients and locally advanced in 11 patients. A classification adjustment was obtained after pathological examination of the surgical specimen. The ISUP score 3 and 1 on the surgical specimen were in the majority with 9 and 7 patients respectively. After the recurrence, all patients who consented received hormone therapy, which was either medical with Goserelin and Triptorelin (7 patients) or surgical with testicular pulpectomy (1 patient). The Oryzenin’s Effect on Di, Tri and Quadri-Saccharide Degradation. An Investigation by a Mixed Method: ONIOM (DFT/B3LYP/6 - 31 + G(d, p): AM1)

The paddy rice degradation remains a concern for research;the chemical phenomena underlying this process persists unknown. This research aims to identify the mechanism of starch degradation. It determines the nature of the reactions between two, three and four synthons of amylose with oryzenin using theoretical methods. The ONIOM (DFT/B3LYP/6 - 31 + G(d, p): AM1) level of theory is performed on four monomers and eight complexes. Frequencies make it possible to obtain energy and spectroscopic quantities. Calculations after geometry optimization. Following this, a “single point” allows exploiting the “Natural Bond Orbital (NBO)” analysis. The first three parameters suggest that the main interactions between oryzenin and amylose arise through O29-H30…O46 hydrogen bonds (HB). Furthermore, this result posits that the length of the amylose doesn’t influence this reaction. The NBO analysis shows that this component of starch degrades first at the end of the chain to produce monosaccharides;it can also alter in the middle of the chain to give disaccharides.
