Objective:To assess the applicability degree of the international guidelines by Moroccan radiotherapists,in order to improve the management of cervical cancer(CC),since CC is the second most common cancer for women in ***:This cross-sectional study was carried out using a questionnaire sent online to Moroccan *** questionnaire covered participants'characteristics,initial assessment and treatment preparation,techniques and indications for radiotherapy and brachytherapy,dose and indications,as well as on the protocol adopted in the intermediate stages and the location of adjuvant treatments and assessments'***:74 radiotherapists out of 300 have responded to the *** 27.0%of practitioners reported discussing patient records systematically in a multidisciplinary consultation meeting(MCM).For the initial assessment,77.0%requested pelvic magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).It is significantly less requested in regional oncology centers(ROCs)than in university hospital centers(UHCs)or the private sector(Pelvic MRI(82.2%)while PET/CT was recommended by only less than 10%.Conclusions:The findings obtained show that our radiotherapists generally comply with international guidelines for the cervical cancer ***,they should still enhance their practices for the first staging evaluation,the use of systematic MCMs,the doses and treatment techniques used,and

Impact of Dietary Lactobacillus plantarum Postbiotics on the Performance of Layer Hens under Heat Stress Conditions

This experiment was conducted to determine the performance of heat-stressed layers fed a diet containing the probiotic Lactobacillus plantarum RS5 or its products of fermentation (postbiotics). Twenty-week-old Isa White layers, were subdivided into six treatments of 32 individually caged birds. Half of the birds were reared under regular temperature conditions, while the other half was subjected to cyclic daily heat stress. Layers were offered one of three diets: 1) Control;2) Control + Lactobacillus plantarum RS5 probiotic;3) Control + Lactobacillus plantarum RS5 postbiotics. Birds were tested for performance and visceral organ development for 5 months. Heat stress negatively affected the birds’ feed intake, egg weight, shell weight percentage, Haugh unit, shell thickness, yolk color, body weight and spleen weight percentage. Postbiotics significantly increased egg production (p ely). Birds under probiotic or postbiotic diet showed a significantly higher (p ell thickness didn’t show differences among dietary groups. The Haugh Unit was significantly higher (p < 0.05) in probiotic group which also showed a significantly lower yolk color index (p < 0.05). The different feed treatments did not impact the bird’s viscera weight percentage, except for the ileum that was significantly lower (p < 0.05) under postbiotic supplementation. Both probiotics and postbiotics could be used as a potential growth promoters and might alleviate heat stress impact in poultry industry.

This paper presents a contribution related to the control of nonlinear variable-speed marine current turbine(MCT)without pitch operating below the rated marine current *** that the operation of the MCT can be divided into several operating zones on the basis of the marine current speed,the system control objectives are different for each *** deal with this issue,we develop a new control approach based on a linear quadratic regulator with variable generator *** proposed approach enables the optimization of the rotational speed of the turbine,which maximizes the power extracted by the MCT and minimizes the transient loads on the *** novelty of our study is the use of a real profile of marine current speed from the northern coasts of *** simulation results obtained using MATLAB Simulink indicate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed control approach on the electrical and mechanical parameters with the variations of marine current speed.

Staphylococcus aureus is one of the main pathogenic agents responsible for nosocomial and community-acquired bacterial infections. The pathogenicity of this Gram-positive bacterium is ensured by its different adhesion factors. Collagen and the extracellular glycoprotein adhesin are among the Staphylococcus most important virulence factors. It has been shown that most of the S. aureus strains carry the ica operon, responsible for biofilm production. However, the coexpression of the icaA and the icaD genes is necessary for complete biofilm synthesis. The aim of our study was to study a collection of 15 clinical strains of S. aureus from different sources for the presence of can and icaD genes coding intercellular adhesion proteins. We also intended to estimate the strains’ ability to form biofilms by the red Cong method and to test the adhesion ability of S. aureus to the ciliated protist Tetrahymena pyriformis, which we used as a novel cellular adhesion model. Finally, we checked the adhesion’s inhibition capacity of some plants extracts. The molecular detection of adhesion genes revealed that 80% of strains are cna positive, and 73% are icaD positive. Qualitative biofilm production of S. aureus revealed that 66.6% of strains were slime producers. The adhesion test revealed that 20% of strains are strongly adhering to T. pyriformis and that the Clematis cirrhosa extract has an anti-adhering effect of S. aureus to the ciliate T. pyriformis.

Phosphorus is one of the bioelements most needed as a compound cell by living organisms. Phosphorus is involved in several pathologies: in human with bone and kidney diseases, in mammals with metabolism disorder (glucose, insulin···), in microorganisms whose phosphorus is involved in cell growth. Phosphorus has various forms including pyrophosphate, a by-product of multiple pathways of biosynthesis. Enzymes that hydrolyze pyrophosphate are called inorganic pyrophosphatases (PPases). Two major types of inorganic pyrophosphatases are distinguished: the soluble pyrophosphatases (sPPases) and the membrane pyrophosphatases (mPPases or H+/Na+-PPases). They play a key role in the control of intracellular inorganic pyrophosphate level and produce an important ions gradient (H+ or Na+) to the cells. In this work, we primarily focused on the physiological study in a phosphate-poor medium of two models Tetrahymena thermophile and Tetrahymena pyriformis, following the mobility, the growth and the morphology of cells. Secondly, we evaluated the enzymatic activity of soluble and membrane pyrophosphatases in both species grown in the same complex medium. A decrease of cell growth is correlated with unusual morphologies and different mobility in the stress medium. The measurement of soluble and membrane inorganic pyrophosphatases activities also shows a decrease which illustrates the lack of phosphate found in the stress medium. Deficiency of phosphate is a limiting factor for protozoan growth. These results indicate that Tetrahymena can be used as a model of cellular stress and consists of a target to study inorganic pyrophosphatases for a better understanding of phosphate cycle in higher organisms.

This paper deals with a qualitative and computational study of a class of integrodifferential model, with a nonlinear growth rate. The model is applied to immunology problems, in particular to the competition between tumors and immune system. Our purpose is to take into account the activity transfer processes bet ween cells. The first part of this paper deals with the modeling, while the second part develops the existence and uniqueness of global solutions to the initial boundary value problem related to the application of the model. Finally, numerical simulations are used to illustrate the results obtained for a dynamic of tumor cells contrasted by the immune system.

Physicians’knowledge about radiation protection of patients during prescription of CT scan procedures in Morocco

Objective:To evaluate the knowledge and practices of Moroccan physicians in terms of radioprotection of patients when prescribing computed tomography(CT)***:This is a cross-sectional study in which a questionnaire with 23 multiple-choice questions was sent to prescribers of CT examinations such as radiotherapists(RMs),other medical specialists(OMSs),general practitioners(GPs)and residents/interns(R/Is).The first eight questions asked about the demographics of the participants,while the remaining questions asked about knowledge of ionizing radiation examinations,doses received,relative risks,and patient radiation safety ***:A total of 223 physicians participated in this *** therapists,considered as the reference group,had a better knowledge of irradiating and non-irradiating imaging compared to the other groups(P=0.003).Thus,67%of the reference group declared to take into account the number of scans performed by the patient during the last year,unlike the other groups(P=0.002).Furthermore,the knowledge of the different groups about the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation was globally low(2%)(P=0.73).Regardless of their specialties and seniority,only 12%of the participants informed the patient at the time of prescription about the risks of ***,only 21%of the participants declared having had training in radiation protection,with no significant differences between the subgroups(P=0.832).Conclusions:The results obtained are similar to those reported in previous *** show that Moroccan prescribers have a low level of knowledge of the risks associated with CT *** on patient radiation protection should be included in the initial curriculum of interns and the continuing professional development of physicians should be reinforced.

Today, in the modern era, and under the pressure of rapid development around the kingdom regions, electric utilities are confronted with a myriad of challenges that include aging infrastructure, enhanced expectation of reliability, reduced cost, and coping effectively with uncertainties and changing regulation requirements. Indeed, for distribution systems, HV/MV substations represent a complex and critical physical asset that requires a careful evaluation of their maintenance practices aiming at more cost-effective tasks. The first concern of the electric power distribution company in Morocco is the optimization of the distribution network maintenance scheduling, to minimize system operating costs and ensure that the system is running most economically. There is significant pressure on power providers for greater system reliability and improvement of customer satisfaction, while similar emphasis is placed on cost reduction. These cost reductions focus on reducing operating and maintenance expenses, and minimizing investments in new plants and equipment. However, the present of the electricity distribution, influenced by a number of technical restrictions and strict regulatory requirements to meet, leads distribution utilities to search new ways of optimizing the maintenance management, make an effort to maximize profit by reducing their electricity supply and operation costs while maintaining their reliability, developing more effective activities, with lower costs. Furthermore, maximal HV/MV substation asset value and minimal maintenance cost are typical economic objectives of the electric utilities. The optimization of maintenance is one possible technique to reduce maintenance costs while improving reliability and utilities need to implement new strategies for more effective maintenance techniques and Asset Management (AM) methods programs to manage inspections and maintenance activities in order to control HV/MV substation equipment conditions. In this paper we present a multi-optimization technique based on genetic algorithms to search optimal cuttings parameters such as cutting depth, feed rate and cutting speed of multi-pass turning processes. Tow objective functions are simultaneously optimized under a set of practical of machining constraints, the first objective function is cutting cost and the second one is the used tool life time. The proposed model deals multi-pass turning processes where the cutting operations are divided into multi-pass rough machining and finish machining. Results obtained from Genetic Algorithms method are presented in Pareto frontier graphic;this technique helps us in decision making process. An example is presented to illustrate the procedure of this technique.
