Conductivity of glasses in the systems ***, (where R=Ca, Sr or ba) was investigated between room temperature and 530 K. The dependence of log resistivity as well as the activation energy on the PbO content has been studied. based on the present experimental results, the possible different conduction mechanisms in such glasses are discussed. It was postulated that Pb2+ ions may represent the major charge carrying species in these glasses. This assumption was confirmed by the calculations of the mean distance between the interstitial Pb2+ ions and the effective center of the O2- ions in the glass networks. The variation in the values of the density and the molar volume with PbO content is also discussed in view of the obtained activation energies for the studied glass-systems.

The baobab, Adansonia digitata L. plays an important role in the economy of local populations. The oil from the seeds of the baobab fruit is nowadays highly prized because of its numerous cosmetic and therapeutic applications and its composition of unsaturated fatty acids, sterols and tocopherols. However, unlike refined oils, locally extracted baobab oil has not undergone purification operations to ensure its quality. Only a filtration on special cloths is carried out after decantation. Indeed, the oil obtained after pressing is cloudy because of the presence of various impurities. It therefore requires treatment operations to make it more attractive and of higher quality. Therefore, in order to provide innovative solutions to local companies to improve the quality of vegetable oils, a study of clarification (treatment) of crude oil is necessary. An experimental device has been developed in the laboratory. It includes a glass column and a filter bed of dune sand and activated carbon. This study has shown the efficiency of the experimental device. Indeed, the activated carbon, thanks to its adsorbing power, has allowed a significant decrease in turbidity at the 5% threshold, from 14.61 NTU for the raw oil to 0.08 NTU for the oil filtered on 3% carbon and 0.033 NTU for the oil filtered on 5% carbon. That is to say an abatement higher than 95%. This decrease in turbidity could be correlated with the decrease in brown index from 187.39a for the initial crude oil to 128.53d for the oil treated with 3% activated carbon versus 187.59a for the oil filtered on cloths. The lowest brown index was observed with the filtration using 5% activated carbon (35.99b). Thus, for the yellowness index, only the filtration on 5% charcoal allowed to obtain a significant decrease in yellowness. Introduction: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is defined as high blood pressure in the lungs. It is recently described as a vascular disease entity in chronic kidney disease, particularly for chronic hemodialysis patients. The aims of this study were to determine the prevalence of PH, to describe clinico-biological and morphological characteristics and to identify risk factors associated with PH in hemodialysis patients. Patients and methods: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive, and analytical study during a period of 8 months from January 1, 2019, to August 31, 2019, in the hemodialysis center of nephrology department of Aristide Le Dantec Hospital. All chronic hemodialysis patients for more than 3 months and with PH confirmed by cardiac doppler ultrasound were included. Results: During the study period, 25/94 patients on chronic hemodialysis, presented with pulmonary hypertension (26.6%). The mean age was 49.3 ± 12.9 years. The sex ratio (M/F) was 0.92. Exertional dyspnea was found in 18 patients (72%). Cardiac auscultation revealed an arrhythmia in 3 patients (12%), augmented second heart sound in 12 patients (48%). On transthoracic doppler ultrasound, pulmonary systolic arterial pressure was on average 51.4 ± 13.2 mmHg. PH was moderate in 13 patients (52%), mild in 9 patients (36%) and severe in 3 patients (12%). The left ventricular ejection fraction was altered in 9 patients (36%). Three patients (12%) had valve calcifications. They were mainly located at aortic valve (8%) and mitral valve (4%). The major risk factors associated to PH in our patients are pathological fractures (p = 0.023), aortic calcifications (p = 0.023), ischemic heart disease (p = 0.023). The duration of hemodialysis represents another favoring factor (p = 0.042). Also implicated are arrhythmias (p = 0.004), high cardiac index (p = 0.043), ventricular dilatation (p = 0.034) and left atrial dilation (p = 0.015), as well as dilation of the inferior vena cava (p = 0.048).

This report describes in vitro micropropagation of Boscia senegalensis,so-called famine foods,that helped the people in Darfur and Kordofan,Sudan survive during the 1984-1985 *** types of explants prepared from green mature zygotic embryos were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium augmented with 1-5 mg/L 6-benzyladenine (ba).The highest number of shoots per explant (14.3±0.9) was achieved on MS medium supplemented with 3 mg/L ba,while the highest shoot length [(3.5±0.4) cm] was obtained with 1 mg/L *** shoot cluster,when subcultured to its same medium,significantly increased the rate of shoot multiplication by the end of the third *** maximum mean number of shoots per explant (86.5±3.6) was produced after three multiplication cycles on 3 mg/L ba-supplemented *** vitro induced shoots were excised and rooted on half strength MS medium fortified with 0.25 mg/L indole-3-butyric acid (Iba) to obtain complete ***-regenerated plantlets obtained in vitro for the first time,were hardened and 95% survived under greenhouse conditions.

background: Tolosa Hunt Syndrome is an inflammatory condition of unknown etiology of the cavernous sinus and superior orbital fissure. Because of the difficulty in establishing histological evidence, his diagnosis is based on a set of arguments established by the International Headache Society. MRI allows indirect visualization of the granuloma and plays a key role in diagnosis and follow-up. Aim: To illustrate High-field MRI contribution in Tolosa-Hunt Syndrome (THS). Cases Presentation: Two patients, a 25-year-old female and a 40-year-old male were recruited in this retrospective case report study at the Radiology service of Fann University Hospital (Dakar Senegal). The first patient has been suffering from a right retro-orbital pain and diplopia for 2 months and the second from a painful oculomotor nerve palsy for 3 months. Blood tests, lumbar puncture, thyroid hormone levels and an infectious screen were done. Screening for converting enzymes, and serum antibodies were also done. They underwent a high field MRI (Siemens 1.5T) with T1, T2, FLAIR, T2*, diffusion B1000, TOF polygon, CISS 3D and T1 gadolinium sequences in the 3 planes space. No significant abnormality was detected in blood tests or CSF analysis. Screening for converting enzymes and serum antibodies screen were also negative. For each patient, MRI examinations showed a non tumoral thickening of the right cavernous sinus, suggesting a granulomatous involvement. Tolosa Hunt Syndrome was evoked firstly. They were put on corticotherapy at high doses with a spectacular regression of symptoms. The Criteria of the International Headache Society of THS were met in both patients. Conclusion: High-field MRI is a significant diagnostic tool in the assessment of painful ophthalmoplegia. It allows a direct visualization of the granuloma of the cavernous sinus and assesses its course throughout the disease.

Carbocisteine,also known as carbocysteine,is a mucolytic that reduces the viscosity of sputum and thus can be used to help relieve symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder and bronchiectasis by allowing the sufferer to expel sputum more easily.A total of three new metal complexes of carbocysteine,HCcy with the metal ions Sr(Ⅱ),ba(Ⅱ),and Pb(Ⅱ)have been successfully prepared in alkaline medium in situ H_(2)O/CH_(3)OH(50/50 w/w).The complexes obtained are characterized quantitatively and qualitatively by using micro elemental analysis,FTIR spectroscopy,UV-Vis spectroscopy,X-ray powder diffraction spectroscopy,^(1)H-NMR,and conductivity *** the spectral study,all the synthesized Ccy complexes obtained as monomeric structure and the metals center moieties are six-coordinated except lead(Ⅱ)complex which existed as a four-coordinated respectively,suggesting formulas[Sr(Ccy)(H_(2)O)_(2)],[ba(Ccy)(H_(2)O)_(2)]and[Pb(Ccy)]in neutral ***,regarding both Sr(Ⅱ)and ba(Ⅱ)complexes,the aquo groups are existed inside the coordination *** infrared assignments reveal that HCcy ligand act as a bidentate ligand with the metal ions through oxygens of the deprotonated carboxylic COOH *** 1H-NMR spectrum of the[ba(Ccy)(H_(2)O)_(2)]complex has an absent of the proton of-COOH groups upon the deprotonated of carboxylic group.

background:Liver fibrosis is a hallmark determinant of morbidity in biliary atresia(ba)even in successfully operated *** factors for this rapid progression of fibrosis are not completely *** expression of the transcription factor SOX9 and hepatic progenitor cells(HPCs)proliferation have roles in fibrogenesis in cholestatic ***,they were not investigated sufficiently in *** aimed to delineate the relation of SOX9 and HPCs to fibrosis and its progression in ***:Forty-eight patients with ba who underwent an initial diagnostic liver biopsy(LB)and consequent intraoperative LB were recruited and compared to 28 cases with non-ba cholestasis that had an LB in their diagnostic *** fibrosis,tissue SOX9 and HPC expressions were studied in both ba and non-ba-cholestasis *** fibrosis,SOX9,and HPCs’dynamic changes in ba cases were *** of fibrosis and its progression to SOX9 and HPCs in ba was ***:SOX9 and HPCs in ductular reaction(DR)form were expressed in 100%of ba and their grades increased significantly in the second *** rapidly progressive fibrosis in ba,represented by fibrosis grade of the intraoperative LB,correlated significantly to SOX9-DR and HPC-DR at the diagnostic(r=0.420,P=0.003 and r=0.405,P=0.004,respectively)and the intraoperative(r=0.460,P=0.001 and r=0.467,P=0.001,respectively)*** the other hand,fibrosis,SOX9-DR,and HPC-DR were significantly lower in non-ba cases at a comparable age(Pely).Conclusions:Fibrosis in ba is rapidly progressive within a short time and is significantly correlated to SOX9 and *** of targeting SOX9 and HPCs on fibrosis progression is warranted.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (ba) has been developing and putting to use a workflow for turning printed books into digital books as its contribution to the building of a Universal Digital Library. This workflow is a process consisting of multiple phases, namely, scanning, image processing, OCR, digital archiving, document encoding, and publishing. Over the past couple of years, the ba has defined procedures and special techniques for the scanning, processing, OCR and publishing, especially of Arabic books. This workflow has been automated, allowing the governance of the different phases and making possible the production of 18000 books so far. The ba has also designed and implemented a framework for the encoding of digital books that allows publishing as well as a software system for managing the creation, maintenance, and publishing of the overall digital repository.
