Background Healthcare workers are considered a particularly high-risk group during the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)*** workers in paediatries are a unique subgroup:they come into frequent contact with children,who often experience few or no symptoms when infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS CoV-2)and,therefore,may transmit the disease to unprotected *** Germany,no studies exist evaluating the risk of COVID-19 to healthcare workers in paediatric *** We tested the staff at a large children's hospital in Germany for immunoglobulin(Ig)G antibodies against the nucle-ocapsid protein of SARS CoV-2 in a period between the first and second epidemic wave in *** used a questionnaire to assess each individual's exposure risk and his/her own perception of having already been infected with *** We recruited 619 participants from all sectors,clinical and non-clinical,constituting 70%of the entire *** seroprevalence of SARS CoV-2 antibodies was 0.325%(95%confidence interval 0.039-I.168).Self-perceived risk of a previ-ous SARS-CoV-2 infection decreased with age(odds ratio,0.81;95%confidence interval,0.70-0.93).Having experienced symptoms more than doubled the odds of a high self-perceived risk(odds ratio,2.18;95%confidence interval,1.59--3.00).There was no significant difference in self perceived risk between men and *** Seroprevalence was low among healtheare workers at a large children's hospital in Germany before the second epidemic wave,and it was far from a level that confers herd ***-perceived risk of infection is often overestimated.

Bacterial infection associated with the use of medical or dental devices is a serious *** devices made of ethylene vinyl acetate（EVA） are often used in the oral cavity,there are no established standards for their *** investigated bacterial survival on EVA sheets under various storage conditions to establish a standard for hygienic storage of such dental *** counts were evaluated,which showed a significant decrease after washing with sterilized water,mechanical brushing and rinsing,and using Mouthguard Cleaner as compared to untreated *** addition,no bacteria were detected on samples stored 2 days or longer in a ventilated environment,whereas they were detected for up to 14 days on samples without any cleaning stored in a closed *** counts for the untreated samples gradually declined,while surviving bacteria on samples treated with sterilized water and mechanical brushing showed a rapid ***,bacterial identification using polymerase chain reaction（PCR） revealed that Streptococcus oralis was dominantly detected on salivary samples after 14 days of storage among both two *** effective hygienic storage of dental devices made of EVA,washing with sterilized water is important to remove absorbed salivary compounds along with storage in a ventilated environment.

The quantitation of serum tocilizumab using liquid chromatography tandem-mass spectrometry(LC-MS/MS)method has not been widely applied in clinical settings because of its time-consuming and costly sample *** present study aimed to develop a validated LC-MS/MS method for detecting serum tocilizumab by utilizing immobilized trypsin without an immunoglobulin G purification step and evaluate its applicability in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis(RA)patients administered intravenously or subcutaneously with *** tocilizumab-derived signature peptide was deciphered using a nano-LC system coupled to a hybrid quadrupole-orbitrap mass *** serum tocilizumab was rapidly digested by immobilized trypsin for 30 *** chromatographic peak of the signature peptide and that of the internal standard were separated from the serum digests for a total run time of 15 *** calibration curve of serum tocilizumab concentration was linear with a range of 2-200 μg/*** intra-and inter-day accuracy and relative standard deviation(RSD)were 90.7%-109.4%and<10%,*** serum tocilizumab concentrations in the RA patients receiving intravenous and subcutaneous injections were 5.8-28.9 and 2.4-63.5 μg/mL,*** serum tocilizumab concentrations using the current method positively correlated with those using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,although a systematic error was observed between these *** conclusion,a validated LC-MS/MS method with minimal sample pretreatments for monitoring serum tocilizumab concentrations in RA patients was developed.

This paper provides a literature review of current studies investigating the effects of meditation and mind-body exercise on peripheral concentrations of brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF),an important mediator of the neuroplasticity of the central nervous system and cognitive function.A literature search was conducted to collect currently published randomized controlled,non-randomized controlled and uncontrolled intervention *** studies were identified;and among these studies,seven were randomized controlled studies,three were non-randomized studies,and five were uncontrolled *** limited evidence tends to support that mindfulness meditation and mind-body exercise(*** and tai chi)increase circulating BDNF concentrations in healthy and diseased *** is noteworthy that these findings are based on current studies with a relatively small sample size,or without a randomized controlled *** studies are needed to identify a definite effect of meditation or mind-body exercise on BDNF and its role in improving/maintaining brain functions in various populations.
