Electrochemical behavior of [UO_2Cl_4]^(2-) in 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium based ionic liquids

In order to examine the chemical form of uranyl species in 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium(EMI) based ionic liquids,UV-visible absorption spectra of solutions prepared by dissolving [EMI] 2 [UO2Cl4] into a mixture of EMICl and EMIBF 4(50:50 mol%) were *** a result,it was confirmed that uranyl species in the mixture of EMICl and EMIBF 4 existed as [UO2Cl4]2-.Cyclic voltammograms(CVs) of [UO2Cl4]2-in the mixture were measured at 25 ℃ using a Pt working electrode,a Pt wire counter electrode,and an Ag/Ag + reference electrode(0.01 M AgNO 3,0.1 M tetrabutylammonium perchlorate in acetonitrile) in a glove box under an Ar *** corresponding to one redox couple were observed around-1.05 V(Epc) and-0.92 V(Epa) ***/ferrocenium ion(Fc/Fc +).The potential differences between two peaks(Ep) increased from 101 to 152 mV with an increase in the scan rate from 50 to 300 mV s-1,while the(Epc+Epa)/2 value was constant,-0.989 V ***/Fc + regardless of the scan ***,the diffusion coefficient of [UO2Cl4]2-and the standard rate constant were estimated to be 3.7 × 10-8 cm 2 s-1 and(2.7-2.8) × 10-4 cm s-1 at 25 *** using the diffusion coefficient and the standard rate constant,the simulation of CVs was performed based on the reaction,[UO2Cl4]2-+ e = [UO2Cl4]3-.The simulated CVs were found to be consistent with the experimental *** these results,it is concluded that [UO2Cl4]2-in the mixture of EMICl and EMIBF 4 is reduced to [UO2Cl4]3-quasi-reversibly at-0.989 V ***/Fc +.

Internet survey on the provision of complementary and alternative medicine in Japanese private clinics: a cross-sectional study

Objective: Although the use of complementary and alternative medicine(CAM) by the general population has been surveyed previously, the provision of CAM by Japanese physicians in private clinics has not been studied. Universal health insurance system was established in Japan in 1961, and most CAMs are not on the drug tariff. We aimed to clarify the current status of CAM provided by physicians at private clinics in ***: We conducted an internet survey on 400 directors/physicians of private clinics nationwide on the provision of CAM from February 6 to February 10, 2017. Survey items included attributes of subjects,presence/absence of sections or facilities for provision of CAM, proportions of health insurance coverage for medical practices, and source of information. Private clinic was defined as a clinic run by one physician, with less than 20 ***: Commonly provided CAMs were Kampo(traditional Japanese herbal) medicines(34.8%) and supplements/health foods(19.3%). CAMs on the drug tariff were provided in 46.5% of cases at the clinics, but only 16.5% of cases were provided CAMs which were not on the drug tariff, at different neighboring facilities. Among different specialties, Kampo medicines were prescribed at obstetrics/gynecology(54.0%),orthopedics(44.4%), and dermatology(43.0%). Clinics not providing any CAM accounted for 53.5%.With regard to health insurance coverage, 96.8% of the clinics provided only or mainly health services on the universal national health insurance tariff(29.8% and 67.0%, respectively).Conclusion: Kampo medicines represent the most commonly used CAM in private clinics in Japan, and universal national health insurance coverage is considered to be the reason for the high rate of their use.

Background Vascular remodeling is an important pathologic process in vascular injury for various vascular disorders such as atherosclerosis, postangioplasty restenosis and transplant arteriopathy. Recently, pathologic change and the role of bone marrow derived cells were wildly studied in atherosclerosis and restenosis. But the manner of lesion formation in neointima and cell recruitment in vascular remodeling lesion in the present of hypercholesterolemia is not yet fully understood. Methods Double-transgenic mice knockout of LDL receptor gene （LDL-/-） and expressing ubiquitously green fluorescent protein （GFP） were obtained by cross-breeding LDL -/- mice with the GFP-expressing transgenic mice. LDL-/- mice （22-24 weeks of age） fed high fat diet containing 1.25% （w/w） cholesterol were subjected to 9Gy irradiation and received bone marrow （BM） cells from the double-transgenic mice. Four weeks later, a nonconstrictive cuff was placed around the right femoral artery. After another 2 weeks, both right and left femoral arteries were harvested and subjected to histochemical analysis. Apoptosis was analyzed in situ using TUNEL assay. Results Two weeks after cuff placement, atherosclerotic lesions developed in the intima consisting of a massive accumulation of foam cells. The tissue stained with anti-α smooth muscle actin （SMA） antibody, showed a number of SMA-positive cells in the intimal lesion area. They were also positive for GFP, indicating that BM-derived cells can differentiate to SMCs in the intima in cuff-induced vascular remodeling lesions. Numerous small vessels in the adventitia as well as the endothelial lining of the intima were positive both for CD31 and GFP. The intima and media showed a large number of TUNEL-positive signals after 2 weeks cuff injury, indicating the presence of apoptosis in vascular remodeling. Conclusions Atherosclerotic lesions in mice can be developed in the intima after 2 weeks of cuff-induced vascular injury under the hypercholes

One-Pot Room-Temperature Synthesis of Mg Containing MCM-41 Mesoporous Silica for Aldol Reactions

One-pot synthesis of Mg containing MCM-41(Mg-MCM-41) materials was respectively carried out by a room temperature(RT) method and a hydrothermal(HT) method for aldol condensation of 4-nitrobenzaldehyde and acetone and self-condensation of acetone. The RT method can prepare MCM-41 materials containing large amounts of Mg while maintaining the structural characteristics of MCM-41 even at very low Si/Mg ratios(large Mg loadings), but the HT method cannot. The RT method can also give more active catalysts than the HT method, because the catalysts prepared by the RT method are more basic than those prepared by the HT one. The characterization indicates that Mg atoms in the Mg-MCM-41 prepared by the RT method exist as MgO disperses well on the wall surface of pores, while those in Mg-MCM-41 prepared by the HT method are included in the bulk with a smectite-like structure.

Optical transmittance and reflectance on ferroelectric BaTi2O5 glasses prepared recently by a containerless synthesis technique are measured at room temperature in the wavelength range 190-800nm. The fundamental absorption edge located around 340nm demonstrates the coloudess and transparent character of the glass. The optical band gap of 3.32eV has been estimated. The tail of the optical absorption near the fundamental absorption edge is found to follow the Urbach rule. Our analysis of the experimental spectra supports an indirect allowed interband transition between the valence band formed by O-2p orbitals and the conduction band formed by Ti-3d orbitals.

There had been no standardized rules for citing ethical Kampo products used in clinical trials in journal articles. Although the name of a Kampo manufacturer was described in 77.9% of research articles, the name and ratios of crude drug components of Kampo formulas were not described in 77.5% of these papers. Considering the importance of proper characterization of interventions in the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials （CONSORT） checklist, we hereby propose the use of the Standards of Reporting Kampo Products （STORK） website, http：//***/stork, as a reference for Kampo products. This will provide an official source on the internet for verified information on individual Kampo formulations for citation purposes in clinical research articles.

BACKGROUND The impacts of chemotherapy on patients with malignant gastrointestinal obstructions remain unclear,and multicenter evidence is *** To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of chemotherapy in patients with unresectable malignant gastrointestinal *** We conducted a multicenter retrospective cohort study that compared the chemotherapy group who received any chemotherapeutics after interventions,including palliative surgery or selfexpandable metal stent placement,for unresectable malignant gastrointestinal obstruction vs the best supportive care(BSC)group between 2014 and 2019 in nine *** primary outcome was overall survival,and the secondary outcomes were patency duration and adverse events,including gastrointestinal perforation and gastrointestinal *** In total,470 patients in the chemotherapy group and 652 patients in the BSC group were *** the follow-up period of 54.1 mo,the median overall survival durations were 19.3 mo in the chemotherapy group and 5.4 mo in the BSC group(log-rank test,P<0.01).The median patency durations were 9.7 mo[95% confidence interval(CI):7.7-11.5 mo]in the chemotherapy group and 2.5 mo(95%CI:2.0-2.9 mo)in the BSC group(log-rank test,P<0.01).The perforation rate was 1.3%(6/470)in the chemotherapy group and 0.9%(6/652)in the BSC group(P=0.567).The gastrointestinal bleeding rate was 1.5%(7/470)in the chemotherapy group and 0.5%(3/652)in the BSC group(P=0.105).CONCLUSION Chemotherapy after interventions for unresectable malignant gastrointestinal obstruction was associated with increased overall survival and patency duration.

An advanced partitioning process for key elements separation from high level liquid waste

To separate MA(Am,Cm) and some fission product elements(FPs) such as Tc,Pd,Cs and Sr from high level liquid waste(HLLW) systematically,we have been studying an advanced aqueous partitioning process,which uses selective adsorption as the separation *** this process,we prepared several novel adsorbents which were immobilized in a porous silica/polymer composite support(SiO 2-P).Adsorption and separation behavior of various elements was studied experimentally in *** scale separation tests using simulated HLLW solutions were carried ***(II) was strongly adsorbed by the AR-01 anion exchanger and effectively eluted off by using *** separation of Pd(II) from simulated HLLW was ***(VII) also exhibited strong adsorption on AR-01 and could be eluted off by using U(IV) as a reductive ***(III) presented significantly high adsorbability and selectivity onto R-BTP/SiO 2-P adsorbents over various FPs including Ln(III).The R-BTP adsorbents were fairly stable in 3 M HNO 3,but instable against-irradiation-3M HNO *** advanced partitioning process consisting of three separation columns for the target elements separation from HLLW was proposed and the obtained experiment results indicated that the proposed process is essentially feasible.
