Thermal performance of domed roof in air-conditioned spaces

Due to their thermal performance,domed roofs are one of the passive solutions that affect energy consumption in *** thermal performance of domed roofs has been investigated in many naturally ventilated ***,few studies have discussed their performance in conditioned ***,this study introduces a computational comparison between domed and flat roofs to investigate their impact on thermal comfort inside a conditioned *** an earlier stage,field measurements were carried out inside a Bahraini mosque to acquire its indoor air conditions during the summer period of 2021,in addition to validating the computational *** findings of this study confirm that,under mechanical cooling conditions,the flat roof offers a lower indoor temperature than the domed roof by 0.4℃and 0.1℃for open and closed doors,***,the air velocity is lower by approximately 0.01 m/s for both door *** overall PMV values of the flat roof are also lower by 0.07 and 0.01,while the PPD values are lower by 0.20,and 0.34 for open and closed doors,*** on these small differences,it can be concluded that the thermal performance of both roofing systems behaves equally in conditioned ***,the air patterns are substantially different,the overall thermal performance is *** similarity drives building designers to rethink the thermal performance of the domed roofs in air-conditioned spaces with such a hot climate,regardless of their aesthetic and acoustical behaviour.

BACKGROUND Glaucoma is caused by increased intraocular pressure(IOP)that damages the optic nerve,leading to *** Ahmed glaucoma valve(AGV)is a glau-coma drainage implant device that is used in glaucoma patients with uncontrolled IOP.A possible complication after any ocular surgery however is hyphema,which can itself progress to uveitis glaucoma hyphema(UGH)syndrome on rare *** syndrome has not yet been reported as a complication of AGV *** sUMMARY Here,we have reported a case of a 55-year-old female who developed both hyphema and pigmentation as a result of AGV *** confirmed UGH syndrome secondary to AGV implantation after the patient underwent another surgery to shorten and reposition the AGV *** the second surgery,the patient’s IOP was reduced,and she had a clear cornea and no signs of *** This first report of UGH syndrome as a complication of AGV implantation reminds clinicians that frequent follow-up is paramount.

Design of Miniature UWB-Based Antenna by Employing a Tri-sectional sIR Feeder

A novel ultra-wideband(UWB)-based microstrip antenna is presented in this work by using a slotted patch resonator,a tri-sectional stepped impedance resonator(sIR)feeder,as well as a reduced ground *** whole structure was realized on an FR4 *** impact of incorporating several cases of ground planes on the input reflection has been thoroughly investigated under the same tri-sectional sIR feeder and by employing a slotted patch *** the complete ground plane presents an inadequate frequency response,by reducing the ground plane,the induced UWB responses are apparent while the antenna exhibits higher impedance *** impact of both the uniform impedance resonator(UIR)as well as the sIR feeder on the input reflection has also been examined by following the same adopted reduced ground technique and using a slotted patch *** a result,the UIR feeder exhibits a dual-band frequency response,when a wide notched band is incorporated in the range from 4.5–6.5 *** dual-band response of the bi-sectional sIR feeder is still apparent with a narrower notched band in the frequency range from 4–5 *** far as the tri-sectional sIR feeder is concerned,the UWB response is discernible without recording the existence of a notched ***,the antenna displays a higher impedance bandwidth compared with the previously reported *** proposed antenna configuration is designed with highly compact dimensions and an overall size of 14×27.2 ***,it operates under the impedance bandwidth of 2.86–10.31 GHz that can be leveraged for numerous applications where wireless systems are *** approach presents several advantages compared with the other reported UWB-based antennas in the literature,whereas the measured s11 pattern is in good agreement with the simulated one.

Efficient Channel Estimation Techniques for MIMO systems with 1-Bit ADC

With a low resolution 1-bit ADC on its receiver(RX) side, MIMO with 1-bit ADC took a considerable step in the fulfillment of the hardware complexity constrains of the internet of things(IoT) PHY layer design. However, applying 1-bit ADC at MIMO RX results in severe nonlinear quantization error. By which, almost all received signal amplitude information is completely distorted. Thus, MIMO channel estimation is considered as a major barrier towards practical realization of 1-bit ADC MIMO system. In this paper, two efficient sparsity-based channel estimation techniques are proposed for 1-bit ADC MIMO systems, namely the low complexity sparsity-based channel estimation(LCsCE), and the iterative adaptive sparsity channel estimation(IAsCE). In these techniques, the sparsity of the 1-bit ADC MIMO channel is exploited to propose a new adaptive and iterative compressive sensing(Cs) recovery algorithm to handle the 1-bit ADC quantization effect. The proposed algorithms are tested with the state-of-the-art 1-bit ADC MIMO constant envelope modulation(MIMO-CEM). The 1-bit ADC MIMO-CEM system is chosen as it fulfills both energy and hardware complexity constraints of the IoT PHY layer. simulation results reveal the high effectiveness of the proposed algorithms in terms of spectral efficiency(sE) and computational complexity. The proposed LCsCE reduces the computational complexity of the 1-bit ADC MIMO-CEM channel estimation by 86%, while the IAsCE reduces it by 96% compared to the recent techniques of MIMO-CEM channel estimation. Moreover, the proposed LCsCE and IAsCE improve the spectrum efficiency by 76 % and 73 %, respectively, compared to the recent techniques.
