Role of Sulforaphane on Histone Deacetylase Activity in Solid Ehrlich Carcinoma

Histone acylation is one in every of the posttranslational modification that incorporates a role within the regulation of sequence expression. This study was aimed to ameliorate neoplasm cell model Solid Ehrlich malignant neoplastic disease with sulforaphane extracted from cabbage alone and together with immune suppressant drug (mTX) by study the activity of simple protein deacetylase accelerator (HDAC). In this study, sulforaphane was extracted from cabbage leaves and evaluated victimization GC-mS and ultraviolet illumination spectrophotometry. 60 white male rats were divided into six equal groups. Group I: management ordinarily. The remaining mice were subjected to Ehrlich neoplasm cells. Group II: Tumor-bearing group. Group III: immune suppressant drug “mTX” treated group. Group IV, V treated with SFN before and when Paul Ehrlich cells implantation group VI (methotrexate and sulforaphane-treated group). This result showed that sulforaphane was extracted from cabbage (Brassica oleracea) in concentration of 833 μg/g leave. HDAC was attenuated when treatment with sulforaphane after treatment with methotrexate or sulforaphane alone. The desoxyribonucleic acid injury was attenuated in neoplasm tissue of tumor-bearing mice when treatment with immune suppressant drug and hyperbolic considerably in tumor tissue of tumor-bearing mice treated with sulforaphane before and after carcinogenesis and together with methotrexate treatment after carcinogenesis.

Dosimetric Comparison of Intensity-modulated Radiotherapy versus Three-Dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy for Patients with Brain Tumors

Purpose: To compare target dose distribution and dose to normal tissue for brain tumors using intensity-modulated and three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy. methods and materials: Twelve patients selected in the present study compared the dosimetry of intensity-modulated radiation therapy (ImRT) and three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3DCRT) techniques in patients treated with different diagnosis brain tumor. All patients underwent computed tomography planning in conjunction with magnetic resonance imaging fusion. Prescription dose and normal-tissue constraints were identical for both plans. The tolerance level for maximum dose was 6.0 Gy for lenses and 54.0 Gy for brain stem, and optical nerves. Target coverage was evaluated with the D98%, D95% and D2%. Normal tissue dose was evaluated with the maximum dose to lenses, brain stem, and optical nerves. Results: mean and standard deviation values of PTV 98%, PTV 95% and PTV 2% in ImRT these values were 94.6 ± 2.3, 96.56 ± 1.67 and 106.5 ± 1.87 respectively;for 3DCRT were 92.7 ± 3.09, 95.58 ± 1.24 and 104.45 ± 2.73 respectively. ImRT plan provided reduced dose to brainstem (72.17 ± 29.967) and lenses (2.43 ± 2.39) relative to the 3DCRT plans for brainstem (73.05 ± 34.59) and lenses (7.65 ± 23.24). But optic nerves with ImRT significantly received higher doses (38.86 ± 32.15) than 3D-CRT (27.57 ± 31.45). Conclusion: Dose coverage of the planning target volume (PTV) and organ at risk (OAR) was better with ImRT. If PTV is distant to optical nerves and brainstem 3DCRT technique can be applied, and if the PTV is nearby OAR intensity-modulated treatment technique should be used.

Intraoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography: A useful tool in the hands of the hepatobiliary surgeon

AIm: To evaluate the efficacy of intraoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography(ERCP) combined with laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC) forpatients with gall bladder stones(GS) and common bile duct stones(CBDS).mETHODS: Patients treated for GS with CBDS were included. LC and intraoperative transcystic cholangiogram(TCC) were performed in most of the cases. Intraoperative ERCP was done for cases with proven ***: Eighty patients who had GS with CBDS were included. LC was successful in all cases. Intraoperative TCC revealed passed CBD stones in 4 cases so intraoperative ERCP was performed only in 76 patients. Intraoperative ERCP showed dilated CBD with stones in 64 cases(84.2%) where removal of stones were successful; passed stones in 6 cases(7.9%); short lower end stricture with small stones present in two cases(2.6%) which were treated by removal of stones with stent insertion; long stricture lower 1/3 CBD in one case(1.3%) which was treated by open hepaticojejunostomy; and one case(1.3%) was proved to be ampullary carcinoma and whipple's operation was scheduled. CONCLUSION: The hepatobiliary surgeon should be trained on ERCP as the third hand to expand his field of therapeutic options.

The integration of voice and data traffics in our proposed centralized switch node architecture is considered. Specifically,the unfairness of the Free Round Robin(FRR) scheduling strategy towards low priority traffic types is demonstrated by a comparison with a restricted bandwidth strategy called Reserved Round Robin(RRR).The simulation results show that under heavy load conditions,RRR provides a more balanced scheduling of traffic types than the FRR,with only a moderate increase in the delay times of higher priority traffic types.

Rokcall score versus forrest classification in endoscopic management of bleeding peptic ulcer

Acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) remains an important emergency situation. In the last two decades, major developments took place influencing incidence, etiology and outcome of patients with acute UGIB. Peptic ulcer bleeding is the most significant complication of ulcer disease being responsible for 50% of all cases mortality. Aim of the study: To compare between endoscopic clip application versus argon plasma coagulation in management of bleeding peptic ulcer (BPU). Patients and methods: Sixty patients suffering from acute UGIB were randomly divided into two groups: group I included 30 patients treated with endoscopic clip application and Group II included 30 patients subjected to endoscopic APC. All patients were classified according to Forrest classification and the clinical Rockall score. Results: There were significant differences between the two groups as regard Forrest classification (P 0.05). Re bleeding was significant with higher Rockall score in group I (P 0.05). Conclusion: Endoscopic application of hemoclips have a less re bleeding rate than Argon plasma coagulation for treatment of bleeding peptic ulcer, although this was statistically insignificant, meanwhile APC is still less cost and easy. Clinical and endoscopic assessment (through Rokcall score and Forrest classification) could help in making best choice for endoscopic management.

Effect of Green Coffee on Cisplatin Induced Renal Apoptosis in Adult male Albino Rats

Background: Green coffee as a functional food has an antioxidant effect, which can reduce the cancer incidence, promote weight-loss and improve glucose and lipid metabolism, as well as anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. Objective: Assessing the effect of green coffee administration on experimental cisplatin induced renal apoptosis in adult male albino rats of local strain. Design: Randomized Block Design was used. materials and methods: Forty adult male albino rats of local strain were randomly divided into four groups of 10 animals each. G1: control negative group was received isotonic saline (0.5 ml, i.p.) for 30 consecutive days, G2: sham operated group mice were received green coffee extract in water (40 mg/kg/day) for 30 consecutive days, animals of G3 and G4 were administered cisplatin (8 mg/kg/day, i.p.) at 10th day, which is well known to produce significant nephrotoxicity in rats. Animals in G3 were received green coffee extract in water (40 mg/kg/day) and G4 was received isotonic normal saline (0.5 ml, i.p.) for 30 consecutive days. All rats were sacrificed after 30 days and blood was withdrawn for biochemical examinations of kidney function tests (blood urea nitrogen, creatinine and uric acid). Kidneys were removed for determination of renal oxidative stress markers (H2O2) biochemically and caspase-3 by Immunohistochemical examination. Results: Cisplatin administration was associated with significant higher levels of BUN, creatinine, uric acid and H2O2 as compared with normal control group. Green coffee administration in cisplatin-induced renal apoptosis groups produced significant lower levels of BUN, creatinine, uric acid and H2O2 (24.4 ± 4.14, 1.730 ± 0.2830, 5.50 ± 0.850 and 0.51 ± 0.12 respectively) as compared with cisplatin-induced renal apoptosis group not administrated green coffee (27.4 ± 6, 2.04 ± .31, 7.00 ± 1.25 and 1.1 ± 0.16 respectively). Objective: The aim of our study was to assess and compare the potential dosimetric advantages and drawbacks of photon beams and electron beams as a boost for the tumor bed in superficial and deep seated early-stage breast cancer. methods: We planned CTs of 10 women with early breast cancer underwent breast conservative surgery were selected. Tumor bed was defined as superficial and deep with a cut of point 4 cm, those with less than 4 cm were defined as superficial tumors representing 4 patients and those with depth of 4 cm or more were classified as deep tumors representing 6 patients. The clinical target volume (CTV) was defined as the area of architectural distortion surrounded by surgical clips. The planning target volume (PTV) was the CTV plus margin 1 cm. A dose of 10 Gy in 2 Gy fractions was given concurrently at the last week of treatment. Organs at risk (OARs) were heart, lungs, contra-lateral breast and a 5 mm thick skin segment of the breast surface. Dose volume histograms were defined to quantify the quality of concurrent treatment plans assessing target coverage and sparing OARs. The following treatment techniques were assessed: photon beam with 3D-conformal technique and a single electron beam. Results: For superficial tumors better coverage for CTV and PTV with good homogeneity with better CI was found for the 3D conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) but with no significant planning objectives over electron beam. For deep tumors, the 3DCRT met the planning objectives for CTV, PTV with better coverage and fewer hot spots with better homogeneity and CI. For superficial tumors, OARs were spared by both techniques with better sparing for the electron beam where as for deep tumors also OARs were well spared by both techniques. Conclusion: Boosting the tumor bed in early-stage breast cancer with optimized photon may be preferred to electron beam for both superficial and deep tumors. Objective: The objective of this work was to establish adequate tolerance limits based on a certain defined institutional indices and generate published data presenting our results to the radiotherapy community. methods: One hundred paediatric patients were treated using 6-mV X-ray beams produced by Siemens ONCOR Expression linear accelerator. The clinical step-and-shoot intensity-modulated radiation therapy (ImRT) treatment plans were designed using KonRad release 2.2.23. For two treatment sites (abdomen, head and neck), the fluence maps generated by the treatment planning system were all delivered for the quality assurance (QA) which included absolute dose verification for all treatment fields, relative dose verification for each treatment field. Results: The 724 fluence maps were analyzed at three different criteria using the gamma index tool. The 3% dose difference of local prescribed dose /3 mm was considered adequate. The passing rate for all fields of all plans always exceeded 70%. The dose differences between the measured and calculated doses ranged from -2.2% to +4% [mean and standard deviation (s): 1.4 ± 1.5] for the abdominal case, and from -3.3% to +5.6% (1.3 ± 1.6) for head and neck case with total confidence limit 0.046 (4.6%). The 14/100 (14%) of the absolute point dose measurements were out of ±3% from the dose predicted by the treatment planning system. Only two cases were below -3%, while 12 cases over +3%. Conclusion: At 3% dose difference of local prescribed dose /3 mm criteria, a 75% passing a gamma criterion and 3% for absolute point dose can be achieved for abdomen and head and neck treatments site. We considered the tolerance limits based on these indices for ImRT QA adequate.

Synthesis and characterization of a novel schiff base metal complexes and their application in determination of iron in different types of natural water

A novel, simple approach to the synthesis of macrocyclic Schiff base ligand resulted from the condensation of bisaldehyde and ethylenediamine was prepared (7, 8, 15, 16, 17, 18-hexahydrodibenzo (a, g) (14) annulene) (L) and its complexes were synthesized and characterized using different physicochemical studies as elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H NmR, conductivity, magnetic properties, thermal analysis, and their biological activities. The spectroscopic data of the complexes suggest their 1:1 complexe structures which are investigated by elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H NmR, conductivity, magnetic properties, thermal analysis, and their biological activities. The spectroscopic studies suggested the octahedral structure for the all complexes. The spectroscopic data of the complexes suggest their structure in which (N2O2) group act as a tetradentate ligand and two chlorides as monodentate ligands. Also electronic spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate octahedral structure of these complexes. The synthesized Schiff base and its metal complexes also were screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activity. Here we report the effect of a neutral chelating ligand on the complexation with iron to determine it in different types of natural water using recovery test. The activity data show that the metal complexes to be more potent/ antibacterial than the parent Schiff base ligand against one or more bacterial species.
