A tribo-chemical view on astringency of plant-based food substances

Consumption of plant-based food products having high composition of polyphenols leads to the sensation of *** sliding oral surfaces,friction is an essential property during the oral perception of roughness and dryness which are attributes associated with *** factors including the chemical composition of interacting layers,structure and operation of interfaces have an effect on the astringency development *** manner of interactions occurring at oral interfaces suggest there is a system dependence of astringency and highlights the importance of adopting a tribosystems *** measurement techniques have shown an existing relationship between salivary protein-polyphenol interaction and an astringent ***,the tribo-chemistry involved in this multifaceted sensation remains largely unexplored in a comprehensive *** this review the underlying tribo-chemical processes useful in understanding the mechanism of astringency are highlighted and discussed considering current techniques employed to investigate astringency *** of lubrication on oral surfaces owing to the tribo-chemical interactions involving saliva and astringent plant proteins requires subsequent deformations of oral tissues which are significant enough to induce strains at mechanoreceptor locations,leading to the sensation of *** is proposed that micro-scale contact modelling on the interaction of food particles/aggregates,boundary layers and oral surfaces shows potential in addressing the knowledge gap between tribo-chemical measurement techniques and panel tests,making it possible to attain a predictor for astringency.

Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma(KIRC)is a malignant tumor that carries a substantial risk of morbidity and *** MMP family assumes a crucial role in tumor invasion and *** study aimed to uncover the mechanistic relevance of the MMP gene family as a therapeutic target and diagnostic biomarker in Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma(KIRC)through a comprehensive approach encompassing both computational and molecular ***,Cytoscape,UALCAN,GEPIA,OncoDB,hPA,cBioPortal,GSEA,TIMER,ENCORI,DrugBank,targeted bisulfite sequencing(bisulfite-seq),conventional PCR,Sanger sequencing,and RT-qPCR based analyses were used in the present study to analyze MMP gene family members to accurately determine a few hub genes that can be utilized as both therapeutic targets and diagnostic biomarkers for *** performing STRING and Cytohubba analyses of the 24 MMP gene family members,MMP2(matrix metallopeptidase 2),MMP9(matrix metallopeptidase 9),MMP12(matrix metallopeptidase 12),and MMP16(matrix metallopeptidase 16)genes were denoted as hub genes having highest degree *** analyzing MMP2,MMP9,MMP12,and MMP16 via various TCGA databases and RT-qPCR technique across clinical samples and KIRC cell lines,interestingly,all these hub genes were found significantly overexpressed at mRNA and protein levels in KIRC samples relative to *** notable effect of the up-regulated MMP2,MMP9,MMP12,and MMP16 was also documented on the overall survival(OS)of the KIRC ***,targeted bisulfite-sequencing(bisulfite-seq)analysis revealed that promoter hypomethylation pattern was associated with up-regulation of hub genes(MMP2,MMP9,MMP12,and MMP16).In addition to this,hub genes were involved in various diverse oncogenic *** MMP gene family members(MMP2,MMP9,MMP12,and MMP16)may serve as therapeutic targets and prognostic biomarkers in KIRC.

This paper celebrates Professor Yongqi GAO's significant achievement in the field of interdisciplinary studies within the context of his final research project Arctic Climate Predictions: Pathways to Resilient Sustainable Societies-ARCPATh(https://***/en/projects/finished-projects/arcpath). The disciplines represented in the project are related to climatology, anthropology, marine biology, economics, and the broad spectrum of social-ecological studies. Team members were drawn from the Nordic countries, Russia, China, the United States, and Canada. The project was transdisciplinary as well as interdisciplinary as it included collaboration with local knowledge holders. ARCPATh made significant contributions to Arctic research through an improved understanding of the mechanisms that drive climate variability in the Arctic. In tandem with this research, a combination of historical investigations and social, economic, and marine biological fieldwork was carried out for the project study areas of Iceland, Greenland, Norway, and the surrounding seas, with a focus on the joint use of ocean and sea-ice data as well as social-ecological drivers. ARCPATh was able to provide an improved framework for predicting the near-term variation of Arctic climate on spatial scales relevant to society, as well as evaluating possible related changes in socioeconomic realms. In summary, through the integration of information from several different disciplines and research approaches, ARCPATh served to create new and valuable knowledge on crucial issues, thus providing new pathways to action for Arctic communities.

high-quality medical microscopic images used for diseases detection are expensive and difficult to ***,low-resolution images are favorable due to their low storage space and ease of sharing,where the images can be enlarged when needed using Super-Resolution(SR)***,it is important to maintain the shape and size of the medical images while enlarging *** of the problems facing SR is that the performance of medical image diagnosis is very poor due to the deterioration of the reconstructed image ***,this paper suggests a multi-SR and classification framework based on Generative Adversarial Network(GAN)to generate high-resolution images with higher quality and finer details to reduce *** proposed framework comprises five GAN models:Enhanced SR Generative Adversarial Networks(ESRGAN),Enhanced deep SR GAN(EDSRGAN),Sub-Pixel-GAN,SRGAN,and Efficient Wider Activation-B GAN(WDSR-b-GAN).To train the proposed models,we have employed images from the famous Breakhis dataset and enlarged them by 4×and 16×upscale factors with the ground truth of the size of 256×256×***,several evaluation metrics like Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio(PSNR),Mean Squared Error(MSE),Structural Similarity Index(SSIM),Multiscale Structural Similarity Index(MS-SSIM),and histogram are applied to make comprehensive and objective comparisons to determine the best methods in terms of efficiency,training time,and storage *** obtained results reveal the superiority of the proposed models over traditional and benchmark models in terms of color and texture restoration and detection by achieving an accuracy of 99.7433%.

Assessing the Performance of Some Ranked Set Sampling Designs Using hybrid Approach

In this paper,a joint analysis consisting of goodness-of-fit tests and Markov chain Monte Carlo simulations are used to assess the performance of some ranked set sampling *** Markov chain Monte Carlo simulations are conducted when Bayesian methods with Jeffery’s priors of the unknown parameters of Weibull distribution are used,while the goodness of fit analysis is conducted when the likelihood estimators are used and the corresponding empirical distributions are *** ranked set sampling designs considered in this research are the usual ranked set sampling,extreme ranked set sampling,median ranked set sampling,and neoteric ranked set sampling *** intensive Monte Carlo simulation study is conducted using Lindley’s approximation algorithm to compute the different designs’-based *** study showed that the dependent design“neoteric ranked set sampling design”is superior to other ranked set designs and the total relative efficiency is higher than the other designs’total relative efficiency.

Evaluation of laser in situ keratomileusis for myopic correction performed under thin flaps

AIM： To evaluate the efficacy and safety of laser-assisted subepithelial keratectomy （LASIK） for myopic correction done under thin flaps（120μm） and compare with results obtained under thick flaps（150μm）.METhODS： The study included 150 myopic eyes of 75 patients without previous refractive surgery who underwent LASIK prospectively. Two microkeratome heads （90 and 130） were used to created a flap with thickness of 120μm and 150μm,respectively. Thin flap group（120μm） included 75 eyes while thick flap group included 75 eyes. Follow-up period was 12 mo. Efficacy,l safety, and stability were evaluated and compared between the two ***： In 150 eyes,the mean preoperative spherical equivalent refraction was -8.65±2.6D,mean sphere was -4.4±3.5D, and mean cylinder was -1.0±1.3D. The amount of ablation was significantly larger in the thin flap （88.5±32.21μm） group than in the thick flap group （64±28.13μm）.Percentage of safety was higher in the thin flap group（94.8%） than in the thick flap group（91.7%）. There were no intraoperative complications, especially flap-related problems. Subjective symptoms of dry eye occurred in 20.7% and 33.3% of eyes in the thin and thick flap groups, respectively. CONCLUSION： Thin-flap LASIK is effective and safe in correcting myopic defects. It achivevs better visual results, rapid visual recovery, and stable postoperative refraction than LASIK with thick flaps.

Simulating Annealing PLL for Autonomous Microgrid Systems

The Phase Locked Loop controller parameters are the key-point that affects the dynamic performance of the autonomous microgrid. They have to be optimally tuned to guarantee enhanced overall system stability. In this paper, two-microgrid plant with their associate PWM inverter connected to the ac main grid and the load is used as an example to demonstrate the capabilities of the proposed system. The Phase Locked Loop controller is designed and tuned using the Simulating Annealing algorithm. This algorithm is used to select the Phase Locked Loop PI controller gains with optimal percentage overshoot, rise time and settling time. The controller is tested during the transition between grid-connected and autonomous operation and in reverse order. The controller is compared with Ziegler and Nichols P and PI controllers. It shows the effectiveness and the extraordinary control response of the proposed control technique with respect to percentage overshoot, rise time and settling time control parameters compared to the conventional one.

Stability-indicating hPLC-DAD methods for determination of two binary mixtures:Rabeprazole sodium-mosapride citrate and rabeprazole sodium-itopride hydrochloride

Two selective stability-indicating hPLC methods are described for determination of rabeprazole sodium （RZ）-mosapride citrate （MR） and RZ-itopride hydrochloride （IO） mixturcs in the presence of their ICh-stress formed degradation products. Separations were achieved on X-Bridge CI 8 column using two mobile phases： the first for RZ-MR mixture consisted of acetonitrile： 0.（125 M Kh,PO4 solution： TEA （30：69：1 v/v; ph 7.0）; the second for RZ-IO mixture was at ratio of 25：74：1 Iv/v： ph 9.25J. The detection wavelength was 283 nm. The two methods were validated and wdidation acceptance criteria were met in all cases. Peak purity testing using contrast angle theory, relative absorbance and log A versus the wavelengths plots were presented. The % recoveries of the intact drugs were between 99.1% and 102.2% with RSD% values less than 1.6%. Application of the proposed hPLC methods indicated that the methods could be adopted to follow the stability of their formulations.
