The development of structural materials resistant to harsh radiation environments requires an in-depth understanding of the early stage of the aging *** radiation environments with high transmutation helium production rates such as in fusion and spallation applications,even materials with otherwise acceptable radiation stability may suffer from radiation embrittlement related to helium bubble *** theoretical modeling of helium-assisted cavity nucleation in pure metals and simple alloys provides some useful guidelines at the atomic scale level,these,however,do not overlap with the size resolution of available experimental *** this study,we employed slow positron beam spectroscopy to characterize the nucleation and growth of nano-scale helium bubbles in martensitic steels strengthened by thermodynamically stable nano-oxide *** combination with transmission electron microscopy,we experimentally characterized the evolution of helium bubbles from small clusters of radiation-induced vacancies to large cavities well resolvable by *** radiation resistance of oxide-dispersion strengthened steels dominates only in the early stages of bubble evolution,where positron lifetime measurements provide a missing piece of the microstructural puzzle conventionally constructed by TEm.

AIm:To compare the results of high-resolution ultrasound(HR-US) and magnetic resonance enterography(mRE) examinations in patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).mETHODS:The reports of 250 consecutive cases with known IBD,who had an mRE and HR-US examination,were retrospectively *** a patient-based approach we evaluated morphological disease features such as affected bowel wall,stenosis,abscess and *** comparison between the two modalities was based on the hypothesis,that any pathological change described in any imaging modality was a true finding,as no further standard of reference was available for complete ***:Two hundred and fifty examinations representing 207 different patients were *** modalities assessed similar bowel wall changes in 65% of the examinations,with more US findings in 11% and more mRE findings in 15%.When the reports were analyzed with regard to "bowel wall inflammation",US reported more findings in 2%,while mRE reported more findings in 53%.Stenoses were assessed to be identical in 8%,while US found more in 3% and mRE in 29%(P more findings in 2%(n = 4) while mRE detected more in 6%(n = 16).US detected more fistulas in 1%(n = 2),while mRE detected more in 13%(n = 32)(P most common reason for no detected pathology by US was a difficult to assess anatomical region(lesser pelvis,n = 72).CONCLUSION:US can miss clinically relevant pathological changes in patients with IBD mostly due to difficulty in assessing certain anatomical regions.

Reovirus, a double-stranded RNA virus, can infect many types of cancer cells and cause oncolysis. mammalian reovirus has exhibited promising anticancer activity in clinical trials and holds great advantages and promise as an anticancer agent. Reovirus is not associated with any serious human diseases, naturally targets and destroys tumors, and lacks the DNA synthesis stage, thus avoiding potential DNA insertion mutations. This review discusses the properties of reovirus related to oncolysis and the mechanisms of oncolytic selection, and summarizes the preclinical and clinical studies that have led to the current Phase III trial. In addition, three major challenges in the development of reovirus-mediated oncolytic therapy are discussed. These are: the mechanisms of reovirus oncolysis remain to be fully characterized;the host immune responses should be manipulated to enhance viral anti-tumor effects;and the efficacy of reovirus oncolysis may be further improved by developing new vectors and studying other double-stranded RNA viruses.

目的:回顾大肠癌患者根治术后随诊的临床试验证据。设计:对加强随诊与对照进行比较的随机对照临床试验进行系统性综述和汇总分析(meta-analysis)。主要结局的判定指标:所有原因的5年死亡率(主要结果);粘膜内复发、局部复发、转移和非同时癌(第二原发大肠癌)的发生率(次要结果)。结果:5组临床试验包括1342例符合纳入标准的病人。加强随诊与所有原因死亡率的减少有关(联合风险比0.81,95％可信区间0.70～0.94,P=0.007)。这种影响在用计算机断层扫描(CT)和经常的血清癌胚抗原检测(CEA)的4组粘膜外检查试验中最为明显。加强随诊可显著地提前发现所有复发(平均差距8.5月,7.6～9.4月,P<0.001),并且增加孤立的局部复发的发现率(风险比1.61,1.12～2.32,P=0.011)。结论;大肠癌根治术后加强随诊可改善生存。对于确定加强随诊中哪一部分最有价值,需要进一步扩大的临床研究。
