Synthesis and Characterization of TiO2 Nanoreservoirs Supported with Platinum II and Sodium Bicarbonate Solution

In the past 10 years, the nanoreservoirs to based on TiO2 have taken the lead to develop new and better ways to control and possible "removal" of diseases that have bewildered mankind since its existence. In seeking to contribute to these expectations, at this early stage we synthesized nanoreservoirs of TiO2 with sodium bicarbonate solution to 15% (NaHCO3-15/TiO2), with salt of platinum(II) to 0.1% (Pt-0.1/TiO2) and with the NaHCO3 15% and the platinum(II) 0.1% "in situ" (Pt-0.1-NaHCO3-15/TiO2) by sol-gel. We show that TiO2 and Pt-0.1/TiO2 nanoreservoirs are amorphous. While the NaHCO3-15/TiO2 and the Pt-0.1-NaHCO3-15/TiO2 nanoreservoirs are crystalline. The NaHCO3-15/TiO2 and Pt-0.1-NaCO3-15/TiO2 nanoreservoirs are crystalline because to transformation of the sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) to trona phase. The trona phase increases the average particle size of the Pt-0.1-NaCO3-15/TiO2 nanoreservoirs of 180 nm to 130 nm (NaHCO3-15/TiO2). The nanoreservoirs doped with platinum decreases the particle size to 50 nm (Pt-0.1/TiO2).

Today burns are one of the 20 leading causes of disease, with high incidence. Males are the most affected with 52% and the age group most often is 1-4 years [1]. Therefore is necessary to provide a good choice of dressing (healing material that is painless during application) used like an aid in burns treatment, a dressing has to be cost effective, easy to use and accessible, with minimal side effects, antimicrobial and non- toxic. This investigation is focused to synthesize structures matrices of plants with activity pharmacological like chromogenic glycosides such catapol and aucubin who are presents in plantain leaves [2]. These glycosides have shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, bacteriostatic and healing in wounds and burns treatment. An important part is the characterization of the matrices by spectrophotometric analysis using UV-Visible, FTIR, XRD, SEM and EDS, showing that ZnO has a hexagonal crystal form type, the particle size is approximately of 200 nm average.

Recent changes occurred in terminus of the debris-covered Bilafond Glacier in the Karakoram Range in the Himalayas, Northern Pakistan was investigated in this research. Landsat MSS, TM and ETM+ images were used for this study. Digital elevation models derived from ASTER GDEM and SRTM were also utilized. Visible, infrared and thermal infrared channels were utilized in order to get accurate glacier change maps. Three methods were tried to map this debris-covered glacier in this research. The glacier has been mapped successfully and the changes in the glacier terminus from 1978 to 2011 have been calculated. Manual, semi-automatic and thermal methods were found to give similar results. It was found that the glacier has undergone serious ablation during this period despite of the fact that many of the larger glaciers in the Hindu Kush and Karakoram mountain regions in the Upper Indus Basin were reported to be expanding. The terminus has been moved back about 600 meters during this period and there was an abrupt change in the glacier terminus during 1990-2002. We propose that debris thickness is not the only factor that influences the glacier ablation but the altitude of the debris-covered glacier as well. Many glaciers in the Karakoram region reported to be expanding were having higher altitudes compared to the study area.

Machine learning modeling of superconducting critical temperature

Superconductivity has been the focus of enormous research effort since its discovery more than a century ago.Yet,some features of this unique phenomenon remain poorly understood;prime among these is the connection between superconductivity and chemical/structural properties of materials.To bridge the gap,several machine learning schemes are developed herein to model the critical temperatures(T_(c))of the 12,000+known superconductors available via the SuperCon database.Materials are first divided into two classes based on their T_(c) values,above and below 10 K,and a classification model predicting this label is trained.The model uses coarse-grained features based only on the chemical compositions.It shows strong predictive power,with out-of-sample accuracy of about 92%.Separate regression models are developed to predict the values of T_(c) for cuprate,iron-based,and low-T_(c) compounds.These models also demonstrate good performance,with learned predictors offering potential insights into the mechanisms behind superconductivity in different families of materials.To improve the accuracy and interpretability of these models,new features are incorporated using materials data from the AFLOW Online Repositories.Finally,the classification and regression models are combined into a single-integrated pipeline and employed to search the entire Inorganic Crystallographic Structure Database(ICSD)for potential new superconductors.We identify>30 non-cuprate and non-iron-based oxides as candidate materials.

Various studies have demonstrated that the foundation species genetic diversity can have direct effects that extend beyond the individual or population level, affecting the dependent communities. Additionally, these effects may be indirectly extended to higher trophic levels throughout the entire community. is an oak species with characteristics of foundation species beyond presenting a wide geographical distribution and being a dominant element of Mexican temperate forests. In this study, we analyzed the influence of population () and individual () genetic diversity of on its canopy endophagous insect community and associated parasitoids. Specifically, we studied the composition, richness () and density of leaf-mining moths (Lepidoptera: Tischeridae, Citheraniidae), gall-forming wasps (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae), and canopy parasitoids of . We sampled 120 trees belonging to six populations (20/site) through the previously recognized gradient of genetic diversity. In total, 22 endophagous insect species belonging to three orders (Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera, and Diptera) and 20 parasitoid species belonging to 13 families were identified. In general, we observed that the individual genetic diversity of the host plant () has a significant positive effect on the and density of the canopy endophagous insect communities. In contrast, has a significant negative effect on the of endophagous insects. Additionally, indirect effects of were observed, affecting the and density of parasitoid insects. Our results suggest that genetic variation in foundation species can be one of the most important factors governing the dynamics of tritrophic interactions that involve oaks, herbivores, and parasitoids.

Review of Statistical Water Temperature Models for a Peruvian Andean River

The rapid increase in Water Temperature Rivers (WTR) observed globally in recent decades and projections for the coming decades under climate change scenarios make water temperature prediction essential to assess changes in aquatic biota. Statistical models for stream temperature prediction have been widely used because they are computationally simple, involve few parameters, and because of their relatively good accuracy. However, these models have not been evaluated in Peruvian Andean rivers. This work evaluates the main water temperature statistical models from the literature and fits them with data recorded in the Ichu River experimental watershed, Huancavelica-Peru. Three well-known models were reviewed: the Stefan & Preud’homme linear regression model and the Mohseni & Stefan 3- and 4-parameter logistic regression models. Ichu river water temperatures were simulated using the SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) hydrometeorological model, which defaults to the Stefan & Preud’homme model. Modifications and adjustment of coefficients of the evaluated models were configured in the SWAT code using the “Latin Hypercube Sampling” technique. The evaluated models showed poor performance in predicting the water temperature in the Ichu River with NSE (Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency) values ranging from -2.6 to 0.49, while the modified models showed NSE values of 0.72 in all three cases. Findings suggest that the statistical models shown in the literature should be validated for Andean rivers.

Titanium Oxide Nanoreservoirs Doped With Bee Venom Lyophilized Powder by Sol-Gel

Empirically, bee venom lyophilized powder has been applied in the treatment of various diseases such as: traumatic inflammations, rheumatism, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lumbar neuralgia, multiple sclerosis, radiculitis, arteriosclerosis of the extremities, lupus and peripheral nervous system disorders, treatment of high blood pressure, trophic ulcers, immune deficiencies, edema, asthma syndrome migraine, cardiovascular disorders, they are characterized by low efficiency of the myocardium, as cerebral vascular disorders and viral diseases such as herpes zoster and genital herpes. We synthesize titanium oxide nanoreservoir without impurities (TiO2) and impregnated nanoreservoirs with 1.5 mg of bee venom lyophilized powder "in situ" (L-BV/TiO2-15) by sol-gel. They were characterized by UV-VIS, FTIR and XRD. The anatase crystalline phase is evident for all TiO2 nanoreservoir, they have a value of band gap energy of 3.0 eV. The average particle size of nanoreservois decreases with the incorporation of bee venom lyophilized powder (BV-L) in the mesh of TiO2. The TiO2 nanoreservoir has a value of 40.0 nm and the BV-L/TiO2-15 nanoreservoir has a value of 30.0 nm. The bee venom lyophilized powder has a laminar texture.

Probing Nuclei with High-Energy Hadronic Probes at Inverse Kinematics

Proton knockout reactions are a widely used tool to study nuclear ground-state distributions. While the interpretation of traditional experiments in direct kinematics has to account for initial and final state interactions, experiments in inverse kinematics can overcome such limitations. We discuss results of an experiment at the BM@N setup at JINR using a 12C beam at 48 GeV/c to study quasi-elastic scattering reactions, single proton distributions, and short-range correlated nucleon-nucleon pairs. The inverse kinematics allows for the direct measurement of the nucleon-nucleon pair center-of-mass motion and provides first experimental evidence for scale separation of such pairs. Based on these results, we will in the future study neutron-rich nuclei in inverse kinematics in the context of short-range correlations and neutron stars.
