Solar-powered carbon dioxide （CO_2）-to-fuel conversion presents itself as an ideal solution for both CO_2 mit- igation and the rapidly growing world energy demand. In this work, the heating effect of light irradiation onto a bed of supported nickel （Ni） catalyst was utilized to facilitate CO_2 conversion. Ceria （CeO_2）-titania （TiO_2） oxide supports of different compositions were employed and their effects on photothermal CO_2 conver- sion examined, Two factors are shown to be crucial for instigating photothermal CO_2 methanation activity： ① Fine nickel deposits are required for both higher active catalyst area and greater light absorption capacity for the initial heating of the catalyst bed; and ② the presence of defect sites on the support are necessary to promote adsorption of C02 for its subsequent activation, Titania inclusion within the support plays a crucial role in maintaining the oxygen vacancy defect sites on the （titanium-doped） cerium oxide. The combination of elevated light absorption and stabilized reduced states for CO_2 adsorption subsequently invokes effective Dhotothermal CO_2 methanation when the ceria and titania are blended in the ideal ratio（s）.

Novel Farming Innovation for High Production of Black Pepper （Piper nigrum L.） Planting Materials

In accordance to National Commodity Policy （2011-2020）, Malaysian government targets at expending the pepper cultivated area from the current 16,331 ha to 20,110 ha by year 2020. Based on a planting density of 2,000 vines/ha, there will be an urgent need of 7.588 million cuttings for the next five years in order to achieve this target. However, shortages of planting materials, low productivity and occurrence of pests and diseases remain as the major challenge of pepper industry nowadays. Therefore, a novel farming innovation, namely W-configuration cultivation method has been developed to ensure high production of planting materials for large-scale pepper cultivation and at the same time to maximize land use in pepper farm. A field evaluation was conducted to compare the cutting production among W-configuration, V-configuration and traditional cultivation method. W-configuration recorded the highest mean number of pepper cuttings produced with 11.97 cuttings per vine in every pruning cycle, or equivalent to 71% of increment as compared to 7.00 cuttings per vine produced from the traditional planting method. Meanwhile, V-configuration produced 8.91 of mean cuttings, which are significantly lower than those produced by W-configuration method and yet comparable to traditional method. Based on return on investment （ROI） analysis, implementation of W-configuration cultivation method was able to achieve 35% of return per cycle of planting within two years for the first cycle and upsurged to approximately 355% for the subsequence cycle. Furthermore, this novel innovation also out-yielded traditional planting method by 75.27% for the first and second year of green berry production. The ROI analysis proved the feasibility of this newly developed cultivation method to create potential new income for pepper smallholders in Malaysia, who traditionally cultivate pepper for its peppercorn production. Constant envelope with a fractional Fourier transformorthogonal frequency division multiplexing(CE-FrFT-OFDM) is a special case of a constant envelope OFDM(CE-OFDM), both being energy efficient wireless communication techniques with a 0 dB peak to average power ratio(PAPR). However, with the proper selection of fractional order, the first technique has a high bit error rate(BER) performance in the frequency-time selective *** paper performs further analysis of CE-FrFT-OFDM by examining its spectral efficiency(SE) and energy efficiency(ee) and compare to the famous OFDM and Fr FT-OFDM techniques. Analytical and comprehensive simulations conducted show that, the CE-Fr FT-OFDM has five times the ee of OFDM and Fr FT-OFDM systems with a slightly less SE. Increasing CE-FrFT-OFDM’s transmission power by increasing its amplitude to 1.7 increases its SE to match that of the OFDM and Fr FT-OFDM systems while slightly reducing its ee by 20% to be four times that of OFDM and Fr FTOFDM systems. OFDM and Fr FT-OFDM’s amplitude fluctuations cause rapid changing output back-off(OBO) power requirements and further reduce power amplifier(PA) efficiency while CE-FrFTOFDM stable operational linear range makes it a better candidate and outperforms the other techniques when their OBO exceeds1.7. Higher ee and low BER in time-frequency selective channel are attracting features for CE-FrFT-OFDM deployment in mobile devices.

Background:Guidelines recommend that hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)patients with portal vein tumor thrombosis(PVTT)and/or hepatic vein tumor thrombosis(HVTT)should undergo systemic ***,recent data suggest that surgical resection may be beneficial in selected cases,but outcomes are *** aimed to estimate pooled overall survival(OS),recurrence free survival(RFS)and complication rates in HCC patients with macrovascular invasion(MVI)following surgical ***:In this systematic review and meta-analysis,two investigators independently searched PubMed,Embase,and Cochrane databases from inception to Nov 10,2020,without language restrictions,for studies reporting outcomes of adult HCC patients with MVI who underwent liver resection with curative ***:We screened 8,598 articles and included 40 studies involving 8,218 *** all patients with MVI,the pooled median OS was 14.39 months[95%confidence interval(CI):10.99-18.84],1-year OS was 54.47%(95%CI:46.12-62.58%)and 3-year OS was 23.20%(95%CI:16.61-31.42%).Overall,1-and 3-year RFS were 27.70%(95%CI:21.00-35.57%)and 10.06%(95%CI:6.62-15.01%),*** patients with PVTT,median OS was 20.41 months in those with segmental/2nd order involvement compared to 12.91 months if 1st order branch was involved and 6.41 months if the main trunk was *** pooled rate of major complications was 6.17%(95%CI:3.53-10.56%).Conclusions:Overall median survival was 14.39 months for HCC patients with MVI following *** survival was higher in PVTT with segmental/2nd order involvement at 20.41 versus 6.41 months if the main trunk was involved.

Novel chiral multidentate P3N4-type ligand has been synthesized and characterized by NMR and *** i-PrOH as solvent and hydrogen source, asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of various ketones was investigated. The catalyst generated in situ from chiral multidentate aminophosphine ligand（R,R,R,R）-3 and IrCl（CO）（PPh3）2exhibited highly catalytic activity and excellent enantioselectivity under mild conditions, achieving the corresponding chiral alcohols with up to 99% yield and 99% ee.

Based on a geology-engineering sweet spot evaluation,the high-quality reservoir zones and horizontal well landing points were ***,fracture propagation and production were simulated with a multilayer fracturing *** optimal hydraulic fracturing strategy for themultilayer fracturing networkwas determined by introducing a vertical asymmetry *** strategy aimed to minimize stress shadowing effects in the vertical direction while maximizing the stimulated reservoir volume(SRV).The study found that the small vertical layer spacing of high-quality reservoirs and the presence of stress-masking layers(with a stress difference of approximately 3∼8 MPa)indicate that interlayer stress interference from multilayers and multiwells fracturing between neighboring developed formations could affect the longitudinal propagation of the *** addition,this study investigated well spacing optimization by comparing uniformly spaced wells(100–300 m)with asymmetric spaced wells(200 m upper layer,250 m lower layer).Numerical results indicated that asymmetric spaced well placement yielded the largest stimulated reservoir volume(SRV)of 73,082 m^(3),representing a 65.42%increase compared to 100 m spaced ***,four different hydraulic fracturing sequences(interlayer,up-down,down-up,and center-edge)were compared for multilayer and multiwell *** center-edge sequence exhibited the lowest vertical asymmetry factor(0.71)and the least stress shadowing effects compared to the other sequences(0.78 for interlayer,0.75 for up-down,and 0.76 for down-up).This sequence also achieved the largest SRV(486,194m^(3)),representing an 11.87%increase compared to the down-up ***,the center-edge fracturing sequence is recommended formultilayer development in this *** results offer valuable insights for optimizing well placement and fracturing sequence design in multilayer well networks,ultimately advancing the development of multila
