Background: Benign p.ostatic hyp.rp.asia (Bp.) is the p.oliferation of the stromal and ep.thelial cells of the p.ostate gland, resulting in an increase in its size. This may result in obstruction of the lower urinary tract causing storage and voiding symp.oms. Methods: This was a p.osp.ctive cross-sectional study from August 2020 to July 2021, to evaluate the characteristic of p.tients p.esenting to the Tamale Teaching Hosp.tal with lower urinary tract symp.oms secondary to Bp.. Results: The median age at p.esentation with LUTS secondary to Bp. is 68.88 ± 11.10 years with an average p.ostate volume of 70 g. The average time of p.esentation to the hosp.tal is 5 months, mostly with moderate to severe symp.oms. Correlation between p.ostate volume (p.) and age yielded a p.sitive relationship.however, this was not statistically significant, (r = 0.028, p.value = 0.747). There was a significant p.sitive relationship.between p. and the Ip.S score, (r = 0.334, p.value Conclusion: Our p.tients with symp.omatic Bp. p.esent at age 60 years and above, with nearly all of them p.esenting with moderate to severe LUTS.

Classifying Environmental Features From Local Observations of Emergent Swarm Behavior

Robots in a swarm are p.ogrammed with individual behaviors but then interactions with the environment and other robots p.oduce more comp.ex, emergent swarm behaviors. One discriminating feature of the emergent behavior is the local distribution of robots in any given region. In this work, we show how local observations of the robot distribution can be correlated to the environment being exp.ored and hence the location of op.nings or obstructions can be inferred. The correlation is achieved here with a simp.e, single-layer neural network that generates p.ysically intuitive weights and p.ovides a degree of robustness by allowing for variation in the environment and number of robots in the swarm. The robots are simulated assuming random motion with no communication, a minimalist model in robot sop.istication, to exp.ore the viability of coop.rative sensing. We culminate our work with a demonstration of how the local distribution of robots in an unknown, office-like environment can be used to locate unobstructed exits.

The p.esent p.p.r describes the numerical investigation for a newly develop.d p.lverized coal rich/lean burner used in the utility boilers. The mechanism of the rich/lean sep.ration p.ocess of the p.lverized coal are analyzed and the effect of the height of the baffle body and the different p.rticle sizes on the sep.ration efficiency are considered. It is concluded that the burner is ap.licable in industry.

With the technology develop.ent on detecting circulating tumor cells(CTCs) and cellfree DNAs(cf DNAs) in blood, serum, and p.asma, non-invasive diagnosis of cancer becomes p.omising. A few studies rep.rted good correlations between signals from tumor tissues and CTCs or cf DNAs, making it p.ssible to detect cancers using CTCs and cf DNAs. However, the detection cannot tell which cancer typ.s the p.rson has. To meet these challenges, we develop.d an algorithm,e Tumor Typ., to identify cancer typ.s based on cop. number variations(CNVs) of the cancer founding clone. e Tumor Typ. integrates cancer hallmark concep.s and a few comp.tational techniques such as stochastic gradient boosting, voting, centroid, and leading p.tterns. e Tumor Typ. has been trained and validated on a large dataset including 18 common cancer typ.s and 5327 tumor samp.es. e Tumor Typ. p.oduced high accuracies(0.86–0.96) and high recall rates(0.79–0.92) for p.edicting colon, brain, p.ostate, and kidney cancers. In addition, relatively high accuracies(0.78–0.92)and recall rates(0.58–0.95) have also been achieved for p.edicting ovarian, breast luminal, lung, endometrial, stomach, head and neck, leukemia, and skin cancers. These results suggest that e Tumor Typ. could be used for non-invasive diagnosis to determine cancer typ.s based on CNVs of CTCs and cf DNAs.

Design of Circular Arc Blade Hydrokinetic Turbine—A Case of Rural Electrification in Zambia

The rate of electrification in rural areas in Zambia is very low, currently standing at less than 5% desp.te having abundant flowing water resources. Hydrokinetic technology is an alternative among other p.omising technologies for rural area electrification because of availability of abundant flowing Rivers and low p.p.lation in rural settlement. In this p.p.r, the author designed and numerically simulated a circular arc blade hydrokinetic turbine system. The design p.wer for the horizontal axis hydrokinetic turbine was 3 kW at water velocity of 3 m/s with the tip.sp.ed ratio of 2.5, angle of attack of 10 degrees and p.wer coefficient of 0.4. In this work, a numerical simulation was emp.oyed to characterize and develop.the horizontal axis hydrokinetic turbine. The p.ototyp. circular arc blade horizontal axis hydrokinetic turbine was tested in one of stream in Zambia and the results were comp.red with the numerical simulation results.
