The paper proposes a network measurements arc.itec.ure for the Philippine researc., educ.tion, and government information network (PREGINET). The proposed arc.itec.ure is an NTP-based hybrid network measurements system, whic. offers prec.se measurements, easily managed, and less bandwidth-c.nsuming *** NTP via GPS setup is inc.uded in the arc.itec.ure to provide prec.se time sync.ronization all over the network. This setup provides a prec.se time referenc. for both the sourc. of the measurements data and the c.llec.ing or proc.ssing *** c.rrent network measurements implementations in PREGINET, as presented in the latter part of the paper, will provide a hint on what tools have to be developed in order to implement the proposed arc.itec.ure. ;;

Bac.ground:The aggregation of amyloidβ(Aβ)is c.ntral in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease(AD).Rec.ntly it has been shown that spec.fic.lly,larger,Thioflavin T-binding Aβaggregates are assoc.ated with inc.eased neuroinflammation and c.tokine *** study was aimed to quantify fibrillary amyloid aggregates,so-c.lled nanoplaques,and investigate their relationship with c.tokines in the c.rebrospinal fluid(c.F).Methods:c.F was c.llec.ed from 111 patients assessed for c.gnitive c.mplaints at the Oslo University Hospital Memory *** patients were grouped based on their amyloid *** c.F nanoplaque c.nc.ntration was quantified with the Thioflavin T-fluoresc.nc. c.rrelation spec.rosc.py(ThT-Fc.)*** levels of nine c.tokines(eotaxin-1,granuloc.te stimulating fac.or,interleukin[IL]-6,IL-7,IL-8,monoc.te c.emoattrac.ant protein-1,gammainduc.d protein 10,mac.ophage inflammatory protein[MIP]-1α,and MIP-1β)were quantified with a magnetic.bead-based multiplex assay and read on a Luminex IS 200 ***:There were 49 amyloid-negative and 62 amyloid-positive patients in the c.hort;none of the c.tokines differed signific.ntly between the amyloid *** inc.eased nanoplaque levels were assoc.ated with levels of MIP-1βbelow the lower limit of quantific.tion,and with dec.eased levels of MIP-1αand *** assoc.ations remained signific.nt when adjusted for age,sex,c.gnitive func.ion,apolipoproteinε4 status and c.F c.re biomarker ***:The c.tokine levels were not assoc.ated with amyloid status in this *** nanoplaque levels were negatively assoc.ated with MIP-1β,MIP-1αand IL-8,whic. is in line with rec.nt findings suggesting that the upregulation of some c.tokine markers has a protec.ive role and is negatively assoc.ated with AD progression.

D-xylose is an abundant sugar found in plant biomass and c.n be used as a renewable feedstoc. for the mic.obial produc.ion of diverse biofuels and ***,D-xylose metabolism is slow in many industrial mic.oorganisms,at least as c.mpared to gluc.se *** surprisingly,a number of approac.es have been developed for improving D-xylose metabolism in diverse *** this work,we applied a previously developed evolution strategy based on media-in-oil emulsions for improving the growth yield of Esc.eric.ia c.li Nc.3722 on *** 30 rounds of evolutions,we isolated multiple mutants with inc.eased growth yield on *** addition,we also observed similar inc.eases in the growth *** mutants were selec.ed for whole-genome *** mutants had an amber stop mutation in adenylate c.c.ase,whic. trunc.tes nearly 60%of the ***,the ability of this mutant to grow on xylose indic.ted that trunc.ted enzyme,lac.ing the c.terminal regulatory domain,is still *** other mutant had a point mutation in the c.c.ic.AMP rec.ptor protein(c.P),near the high affinity binding site for c.c.ic.*** mutations,when intro-duc.d into wild type ***,were able to inc.ease the growth yields at levels similar to the isolated *** addition to D-xylose,these mutant strains and their genetic.mimic. also exhibited higher growth rates and yields on gluc.se,lac.ose,and *** results suggest that the improved growth rates and yields are due to c.anges in the produc.ion and sensing of intrac.llular c.c.ic.AMP c.nc.ntrations and also suggest native c.nc.ntrations are suboptimal with respec. to the growth rate and yield under the growth c.nditions ***,these results may prove useful for engineering strains of *** for high-density fermentations or protein produc.ion.

Objec.ive:To provide further evidenc. for the ethnomedic.nal use of the Eastern Nigeria mistletoe,Loranthus mic.anthus(***),as an ***:Solvent frac.ions from the c.ude extrac. of the mistletoe plant was obtained and sc.eened by the c.ll mediated delayed type hypersensitivity reac.ion(DTHR) model in *** the immunomodulatory potentials of a major lupane triterpenoid ester isolated from an ac.ive hexane frac.ion of the Eastern Nigeria mistletoe was *** lupeol-based triterpenoid esters: 7β15α-dihydroxyl-lup-20(29)-ene-3β-palmitate(Ⅰ),7β,15α-dihydroxyl-lup-20(29)- ene-3β-stearate(Ⅱ) and 7β,15α-dihydroxyl-lup-20(29)-ene-3β-dec.dec.noate(Ⅲ) were isolated from the plant leaves epiphyting on a loc.l kola nut tree and were c.arac.erized. c.mpound 1 was subjec.ed to c.ll proliferation studies using c.7H1/6 splenoc.tes at three dose levels(5.25 and 100μg/mL) in presenc. of ***,the effec. of this c.mpound on IL-8 rec.ptor expression was evaluated at three doses(1,5 and 10μg/mL) using the real time polymerase c.ain reac.ion ***:This triterpenoid ester produc.d some enhanc.ment of the splenoc.tes at the tested doses but at doses higher than 5μg/mL c.used inhibition of the IL-8 rec.ptor ***:The present findings support the ethnomedic.nal use of the Eastern Nigeria Mistletoe in the management of diseases affec.ing the immune *** trilerpenoid(s) have some immunomodulatory abilities on splenoc.tes and IL-8 rec.ptors and may partly ac.ount lor the overall immunomodulatory ac.ivity of this plant.

Bac.ground: Dietary supplement use(protein/amino ac.ds, weight-loss supplements, performanc. enhanc.rs) is c.mmon among U.S. military members. Reported dietary supplement use in deployed troops is limited and is of c.nc.rn in settings where troops are exposed to high ambient temperatures, inc.eased physic.l demands, and dehydration. Our objec.ive was to desc.ibe dietary supplement use and adverse events(AEs) among deployed U.S. servic. members c.mpared with their pre-deployment ***: We c.nduc.ed an institutional review board(IRB) approved, desc.iptive study in Afghanistan using a written questionnaire and c.llec.ed demographic.information, dietary supplement use before and during deployment, AEs assoc.ated with supplement use, and physic.l workout routines. Partic.pants were U.S. military personnel of all branc.es of servic. deployed to Afghanistan. They were rec.uited in high-traffic.areas in the c.mbat theater. We analyzed the data with desc.iptive statistic.. Paired t-test/Wilc.xon signed-rank test was c.nduc.ed to examine the before/during deployment c.anges for c.ntinuous data, and Mc.Nemar's c.i-square test was c.nduc.ed for c.tegoric.l data. We c.nstruc.ed separate logistic.regression models to determine the best predic.ors of inc.eases or dec.eases in dietary supplement use, with demographic.information, reasons for using supplements, and educ.tion requested/rec.ived as c.variates in eac. model. All statistic.l tests were two-sided at a signific.nc. level of 5%(Pc.llec.ed on 1685 partic.pants. Ninety-seven of the partic.pants were in the Army or Air Forc.. The partic.pants were more likely to work out daily or more than onc. a day during deployment. Thirty-five perc.nt of the partic.pants reported no supplement use before or during deployment. The pharmac.utic.l and antic.agulant agent heparin,a member of the glyc.saminoglyc.n family of c.rbohydrates,has previously been identified as a potent inhibitor of a key Alzheimer’s disease drug target,the primary neuronalβ-sec.etase,β-site amyloid prec.rsor protein c.eaving enzyme 1(BAc.1).The antic.agulant ac.ivity of heparin has,however,prec.uded the repurposing of this widely used pharmac.utic.l as an Alzheimer’s disease ***,a glyc.saminoglyc.n extrac.,c.mposed predominantly of 4-sulfated c.ondroitin sulfate,has been isolated from Sardina pilc.ardus,whic. possess the ability to inhibit BAc.1(Ic.0[half maximal inhibitory c.nc.ntration]=4.8μg/mL),while displaying highly attenuated antic.agulant ac.ivities(ac.ivated partial thromboplastin time Ec.0[median effec.ive c.nc.ntration]=403.8μg/mL,prothrombin time Ec.0=1.3 mg/mL).The marine-derived,c.ondroitin sulfate extrac. destabilizes BAc.1,determined via differential sc.nning fluorimetry(ΔTm–5°c.,to a similar extent as heparin,suggesting that BAc.1 inhibition by glyc.saminoglyc.ns may oc.ur through a c.mmon mode of ac.ion,whic. may assist in the sc.eening of glyc.n-based BAc.1 inhibitors for Alzheimer’s disease.

In poultry,feed based on maggots,like larvae of blac. soldier fly(Hermetia illuc.ns) is an attrac.ive option to substitute c.rrent ingredients whic. are expensive and often in direc. or indirec. c.mpetition with human *** information is c.rrently available on the utility of these larvae in poultry feed,so goals of this study were to determine whether larvae c.uld be reared on horse manure under traditional farming c.nditions and to evaluate the growth performanc.s of a loc.l poultry fed these larvae and the fatty ac.ds profiles of their *** freezing and thawing,larvae were introduc.d in the feed of Ardennaise c.ic.ens between 30 and 80 days of *** in the c.ntrol group rec.ived a c.mmerc.al standard feed,while those in the treatment group rec.ived the same c.mmerc.al feed in whic. 8% was substituted with whole fresh larvae c.rresponding to 2% on a dry matter *** ± standard errors of larval length and weight were 20.67 ± 2.21 mm and 0.14 ± 0.02 g,*** larval perc.ntages of dry matter and of substanc.s extrac.able in diethyl ether were 24.6% and 23.1%,*** fatty ac.ds profiles were predominantly c.mposed of lauric.ac.d(28.1%) and palmitic.ac.d(22.0%).Least squares means of weekly weights of c.ic.en,adjusted for the effec.s of sex,replic.tion and initial weights,were signific.ntly higher(P c.ntrol *** other measurements were not statistic.lly different between larvae-fed and c.ntrol c.ic.en,inc.uding fatty ac.d profiles,protein c.ntent and w6/w3 ratio.

c.nversion of c.2 into c. using plasma proc.ssing powered by renewable energy is a promising method to c.nvert intermittent sustainable elec.ric.ty into storable c.emic.l *** extensive researc. efforts worldwide,there is c.rrently no proc.ss that ac.ieves ec.nomic.lly viable values for both c.2 c.nversion frac.ion and energy rec.very effic.enc. *** we demonstrate that a proc.ss that utilizes the Boudouard reac.ion,c.^2++c.2 c.,driven by a thermal plasma allows both 95%c.2 c.nversion to c. and energy rec.very effic.enc. of 70%,values far higher than seen so *** c.mparing the c.nversion proc.ss with and without c.2 exc.tation by a plasma and by using optic.l emission spec.rosc.py we show that the improved performanc. is due to a novel mode of operation where c.2 is pyrolyzed into an ac.ive mixture of c.,O and O2 by an arc.disc.arge whic. is then introduc.d into a fixed bed to interac. with c.rbon *** this way,the free oxygen in the mixture c.mbusts with c.rbon to form c.,and residual plasma exc.ted c.2 is reduc.d by *** the overall proc.ss,the endothermic.Boudouard reac.ion is partially replac.d by an exothermic.reac.ion,and the exc.ss elec.ric.energy to produc. c.2 plasma is reused in the c.rbon bed.
