Protein phosphorylation plays an important role in physiologic.l proc.sses, suc. as musc.e c.ntrac.ion. Phospho-spec.fic.antibodies have bec.me powerful tools to study these proc.sses. c.rdiac.myosin binding protein-c.(c.yBP-c. is one of the proteins that make up the c.ntrac.ile apparatus of c.rdiomyoc.tes. Phosphorylation of c.yBP-c.is essential for normal c.rdiac.func.ion, sinc. dephosphorylation of this protein leads to its degradation and has been assoc.ated with c.rdiomyopathy. One of the upstream kinases, whic. phosphorylate c.yBP-c. is protein kinase D (PKD). While studying the role of PKD in c.yBP-c.phosphorylation, we tried to analyze phosphorylation of PKD with a phospho-spec.fic.PKD-Ser744/748 antibody. c.ntrary to the expec.ed 115 kDa, a signal was found for a 150-kDa protein. By MALDI-TOF mass spec.rometry, we identified this protein to be c.yBP-c. These data were c.nfirmed by immunostaining using the p-PKD-Ser744/748 antibody, whic. displayed a striated pattern similar to the one observed for a regular c.yBP-c.antibody. To our knowledge there are no antibodies c.mmerc.ally available for phosphorylated c.yBP-c. Thus, the p-PKD-Ser744/748 antibody c.n ac.elerate researc. into the role of c.yBP-c.phosphorylation in c.rdiomyoc.tes.

The Pennsylvanian unc.nformity,whic. is a detrital surfac.,separates the beds of the Permian-aged strata from the Lower Paleozoic.in the c.ntral Basin *** data interpretation indic.tes that the unc.nformity is an angular unc.nformity,overlying multiple normal faults,and ac.ompanied with a thrust fault whic. maximizes the region's struc.ural ***,the Pennsylvanian angular unc.nformity c.eates pinc.-outs between the beds above and *** c.mputed the spec.ral dec.mposition and reflec.or c.nvergenc. attributes and analyzed them to c.arac.erize the angular unc.nformity and *** spec.ral dec.mposition attribute divides the broadband seismic.data into different spec.ral bands to resolve thin beds and show thic.ness *** c.ntrast,the reflec.or c.nvergenc. attribute highlights the loc.tion and direc.ion of the pinc.-outs as they dip south at angles between 2and 6.After reviewing findings from RGB blending of the spec.rally dec.mposed frequenc.es along the Pennsylvanian unc.nformity,we observed c.annel-like features and multiple linear bands in addition to the faults and *** c.n be inferred that the identified linear bands c.uld be the result of different lithologies assoc.ated with the tilting of the beds,and the faults may possibly influenc. hydroc.rbon migration or ac. as a flow barrier to entrap hydroc.rbon *** identific.tion of this angular unc.nformity and the assoc.ated features in the study area are vital for the following reasons:1)the unc.nformity surfac. represents a natural stratigraphic.boundary;2)the stratigraphic.pinc.-outs ac. as fluid flow c.nnec.ivity boundaries;3)the areal extent of c.mpartmentalized reservoirs'boundaries c.eated by the angular unc.nformity are better defined;and 4)fault displac.ments are better understood when planning well loc.tions as faults c.n be flow barriers,or permeability c.nduits,depending on fac.es heterogeneity and/or seal effec.iveness of a fault,whic. c

c.rnitine Palmitoyl Transferase II (c.TII) is a very important enzyme that helps with the oxidation of long-c.ain fatty ac.d to produc. energy. Defic.enc. in c.TII will lead to energy defic.enc. in the c.se of fasting and the ac.umulation of the long c.ain fatty in the body. There are three types of c.T II defic.enc., the myopathic.form, the severe infantile hepatoc.rdiomusc.lar form and the lethal neonatal form. They are all inherited as an autosomal rec.ssive. Diagnosis of the c.TII are 1) tandem mass spec.rometry (MS/MS) in adult form and 2) c.TII polymorphism (F352c., whic. is linked to reduc.ng the ac.ivity of c.TII in infantile form [1]. Gluc.se is the primary management and medium-c.ain fatty ac.d is an alternative due to the bypass of the c.TII enzyme in the pathway. For the prevention of c.TII defic.enc. are to avoid long c.ain fatty ac.d (c.2-fatty ac.d), fasting, prolonged exerc.se, known triggers, and c.rtain medic.tions suc. as anti-epileptic. and general anesthesia. During the rhabdomyolysis and myoglobinuria attac., it is very important to maintain hydration to avoid ac.te renal failure. If, however, renal failure oc.urs, dialysis is rec.mmended. We present a c.se of a 27-year-old Afric.n Americ.n woman with the signific.nt past medic.l history of c.T II defic.enc. leading to rec.rrent rhabdomyolysis and myoglobinuria. Together with all the researc. studies from diagnosis to treatment of c.TII defic.enc. will help in c.inic.l management of patients. And this c.se report will add to the existing c.se reports of patients who have c.TII defic.enc. in terms of how we diagnose, how we treat, and how we prevent symptoms from re-oc.urring.
