Background： Three experiments were conducted to examine the overall hypothesis that addition of medium chain triglycerides（MCT） and cysteamine hydrochloride（CSH） into the diets of young and growing pigs would stimulate the endogenous somatotropic axis to improve growth and ***： In Experiment 1, weaner pigs were given either a 5 d dietary supplement of 5 % MCT（n = 8） or a control diet（n = 8）. MCT increased the plasma concentration of growth hormone（GH; p ＆lt; 0.05） and the GH secretagogue,ghrelin（p ＆lt; 0.05）. Additionally, the MCT treatment reduced scouring（p ＆lt; 0.05）, maintained villous height in the small intestine（p ＆lt; 0.05） and stabilised daily weight gain（p ＆lt; 0.05）, compared to the controls. Experiment 2compared the effects of 4 levels（0, 1, 3 and 6 % v/v） of MCT supplementation in grower-finisher male pigs, of approximately 35 kg live weight（n = 15 per treatment）. Blood samples taken after 7 wk of treatment showed that the MCT supplementation increased circulating ghrelin（p ＆lt; 0.001）, GH（p ＆lt; 0.01） and insulin（p ＆lt; 0.05）concentrations in a dose-dependent manner. Daily weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion ratio were not affected by the MCT diets. In Experiment 3, 64 female pigs of approximately 60 kg live weight were allocated to one of three dietary treatments： control（n = 20）; 6 % MCT（n = 21）; and 70 mg/kg CSH（n = 21）. After 3 wk of supplementation, the MCT treated pigs had a higher plasma concentration of ghrelin compared to the control and CSH pigs（p ＆lt; 0.05）. plasma concentrations of GH and weight were not affected by any of the dietary ***： Evidence is provided in Experiment 1 to support the use of dietary MCT supplements, perhaps acting via stimulation of somatotropic endocrine pathways, to minimise weaning-associated disorders such as slowing of growth and diarrhoea. Background:To compare the measurements obtained from the Orbscan II,IOLMaster 700,pentacam AXL,and Castroviejo caliper and their effects on calculating the recommended implantable collamer lens(ICL)size and postoperative vault ***:This is a retrospective cross-sectional study of patients who underwent ICL surgery by a single surgeon from March 1,2018 to July 31,*** were reviewed for the anterior chamber depth(ACD)and white-to-white(WTW)measurements obtained from the Orbscan II,IOLMaster 700,pentacam AXL,and Castroviejo caliper(WTW only).These were used to calculate the recommended ICL *** actual ICL size implanted,and vault measurements obtained one month postoperatively were also ***:One hundred seven eyes with a mean age of 27.9±7.7 years were included in the *** WTW measurements were significantly different between devices(pper having the lowest value(11.45±0.04 mm).Mean ACD measurements were the lowest in Orbscan II(3.12±0.25 mm)and the highest in pentacam AXL(3.16±0.24 mm).The pentacam AXL produced an ICL size similar to the Orbscan in 69.2%of *** IOLMaster yielded an ICL measurement one size larger than Orbscan-based calculations in 64.5%of *** the Orbscan WTW and ACD,the desired vault of 0.25 to 0.75 mm and 0.25 to 1.00 mm was achieved in 70%and 91%of eyes,*** caliper WTW to IOLMaster 700 or pentacam AXL WTW increases the percentage of achieving the desired vault to 80%,similar to the ***:The Orbscan II,IOLMaster 700,and pentacam AXL cannot be used interchangeably for calculating ICL *** the WTW from caliper measurement with the ACD of the IOLMaster 700 or pentacam AXL could improve ICL sizing and achieve a higher percentage of eyes with the desired vault.

水介质中环境污染物刺激响应微系统的构建因其仿生特性而得到了应有的重视。已经开发了不同的方法来制定这些系统,以满足系统的目的。在环境修复中,微系统是首选,特别是在水介质中进行处理时,由于其承受水力负荷的能力和稳定性。膜材料决定了微反应器系统的稳定性,因此小颗粒材料是首选。为此,粘土矿物,如蒙脱石,已应用于这方面的几个研究。微胶囊具有仿生功能和光响应特性,在环境修复中具有重要意义。这是因为它屏蔽了环境中的重要元素,在修复过程中,由干选择性渗透膜,同时利用光能加速化学反应过程,在整个修复过程中有机污染物的矿化作用。利用MMT、g-C3N4和Fe3O4构建了一个具有磁性的刺激响应型仿生微反应器系统。采用UV-vis-DRS、傅立叶变换红外光谱和光学显微镜对微胶囊的光学和化学性质进行了研究。光学显微镜图像显示微胶囊大小不一,这是由于手持均质机剪切不均匀所致。结果表明,当g-C3N4浓度由4mg/g增加到32mg/g时,单位重量吸附U(Ⅵ)量由109.6mg/g增加到153.54mg/g,g-C3N4浓度是决定U(Ⅵ)去除率的关键。pH5是微胶囊光催化吸附U(Ⅵ)的最佳pH条件,吸附效率为95.7%。在最佳温度条件(323.15k)下,吸附效率为99%。结果表明,MMT/g-C3N4/Fe3O4微胶囊是一种从水溶液中摄取微量U(VⅥ)的理想材料。

Isoprenoids are a very large and diverse family of metabolites required by all living *** isoprenoids derive fromthe double-bond isomers isopentenyl diphosphate(Ipp)and dimethylallyl diphosphate(DMApp),which are produced by the methylerythritol 4-phosphate(MEp)pathway in bacteria and plant *** has been reported that Ipp and DMApp feedback-regulate the activity of deoxyxylulose 5-phosphate synthase(DXS),a dimeric enzyme that catalyzes the main flux-controlling step of the MEp *** we provide experimental insights *** titration calorimetry and dynamic light scattering approaches showed that Ipp and DMApp can allosterically bind to DXS in vitro,causing a size *** silico ligand binding site analysis and docking calculations identified a potential allosteric site in the contact region between the two monomers of the active DXS *** of Ipp and DMApp contents in vivo followed by immunoblot analyses confirmed that high Ipp/DMApp levels resulted in monomerization and eventual aggregation of the enzyme in bacterial and plant *** of the enzymatically active dimeric conformation allows a fast and reversible reduction of DXS activity in response to a sudden increase or decrease in Ipp/DMApp supply,whereas aggregation and subsequent removal of monomers that would otherwise be available for dimerization appears to be a more drastic response in the case of persistent Ipp/DMApp overabundance(e.g.,by a blockage in their conversion to downstream isoprenoids).Our results represent an important step toward understanding the regulation of the MEp pathway and rational design of biotechnological endeavors aimed at increasing isoprenoid contents in microbial and plant systems.

Significance of dredging on sediment denitrification in Meiliang Bay,China:A year long simulation study

An experiment for studying the effects of sediment dredging on denitrification in sediments was carried out through a one-year incubation of undredged （control） and dredged cores in laboratory. Dredging the upper 30 cm of sediment can significantly affect physico-chemical characteristics of sediments. Less degradation of organic matter in the dredged sediments was found during the experiment. Denitrification rates in the sediments were estimated by the acetylene blockage technique, and ranged from 21.6 to 102.7 nmol N2/（g dry weight （dw）-hr） for the undredged sediment and from 6.9 to 26.9 nmol N2/（g dw-hr） for dredged sediments. The denitrification rates in the undredged sediments were markedly higher （p 〈 0.05） than those in the dredged sediments throughout the incubation, with the exception of February 2006. The importance of various environmental factors on denitrification was assessed, which indicated that denitrification was regulated by temperature. Nitrate was probably the key factor limiting denitrification in both undredged and dredged sediments. Organic carbon played some role in determining the denitrification rates in the dredged sediments, but not in the undredged sediments. Sediment dredging influenced the mineralization of organic matter and denitrification in the sediment; and therefore changed the pattern of inherent cycling of nitrogen.

Analysis of new bone,cartilage,and fibrosis tissue in healing murine allografts using whole slide imaging and a new automated histomorphometric algorithm

Histomorphometric analysis of histologic sections of normal and diseased bone samples,such as healing allografts and fractures,is widely used in bone ***,the utility of traditional semi-automated methods is limited because they are labor-intensive and can have high interobserver variability depending upon the parameters being assessed,and primary data cannot be re-analyzed *** histomorphometry has long been recognized as a solution for these issues,and recently has become more feasible with the development of digital whole slide imaging and computerized image analysis systems that can interact with digital ***,we describe the development and validation of an automated application（algorithm）using Visiopharm＇s image analysis system to quantify newly formed bone,cartilage,and fibrous tissue in healing murine femoral allografts in high-quality digital images of H＆E/alcian blue-stained decalcified histologic *** validate this algorithm,we compared the results obtained independently using OsteoMeasureTM and Visiopharm image analysis *** intraclass correlation coefficient between Visiopharm and OsteoMeasure was very close to one for all tissue elements tested,indicating nearly perfect reproducibility across *** new algorithm represents an accurate and labor-efficient method to quantify bone,cartilage,and fibrous tissue in healing mouse allografts.

Research on water ice content in Cabeus crater using the data from the microwave radiometer onboard Chang’e-1 satellite

The existence, formation and content of water ice in the lunar permanently shaded region is one of the important questions for the current Moon study. On October 9, 2009, the LCROSS mission spacecraft impacted the Moon, and the initial result verified the existence of water on the Moon. But the study on formation and content of water ice is still under debate. The existence of water ice can change the dielectric constants of the lunar regolith, and a microwave radiometer is most sensitive to the dielectric parameters. Based on this, in this paper, the radiation transfer model is improved according to the simulation results in high frequency. Then the mixture dielectric constant models, including Odelevsky model, Wagner and landau-Lifshitz model, Clau-sius model, Gruggeman-Hanai model, etc., are analyzed and compared. The analyzing results indicate that the biggest difference occurs between Lichtenecker model and the improved Dobson model. The values estimated by refractive model are the second biggest in all the models. And the results from Odelevsky model, strong fluctuation model, Wagner and Landau –Lifshitz model, Clausius model and Bruggeman-Hanai model are very near to each other. Thereafter, the relation between volume water ice content and microwave brightness temperature is constructed with Odelevsky mixing dielectric model and the improved radiative transfer simulation, and the volume water ice content in Cabeus crater is retrieved with the data from microwave radiometer onboard Chang’e-1 satellite. The results present that the improved radiative transfer model is proper for the brightness temperature simulation of the one infinite regolith layer in high frequency. The brightness temperature in Cabeus crater is 69.93 k (37 GHz), and the corresponding volume water ice content is about 2.8%.
