Patients with fistulizing inflammatory bowel disease are traditionally difficult to treat. This patient population often experiences delayed or insufficient healing of fistulas using current standard regimens including anti-biotics, immunomodulators, anti-tumor necrosis factor--α drug, placement of setons, and surgical repair. Several studies over the last ten to fifteen years have been conducted using stem cell therapies with promising results in this patient population. These studies show stem cell therapy in fistulizing disease to be successful in healing between 60%--88% compared to currently 50% with infliximab. Moreover, remission was seen 24 wk.to 52 wk.in these studies. Further research with a multi--approach treatment using medications, stem cell therapy, and surgical interventions will lik.ly be the future of this innovative treatment approach.

Objective:There is no consensus on the role of biomark.rs in determining the utility of prostate biopsy in men with elevated prostate-specific antigen(PSA).There are numerous biomark.rs such as prostate health index,4k.core,prostate cancer antigen 3,ExoDX,Selectmdx,and Mi-Prostate Score that may be useful in this decision-mak.ng ***,it is unclear whether any of these tests are accurate and cost-effective enough to warrant being a widespread reflex test following an elevated *** goal was to report on the clinical utility of these blood and urine biomark.rs in prostate cancer ***:We performed a systematic review of studies published between January 2000 and October 2020 to report the available parameters and cost-effectiveness of the aforementioned diagnostic *** focus on the negative predictive value,the area under the curve,and the decision curve analysis in comparing reflexive tests due to their relevance in evaluating diagnostic screening ***:Overall,the biomark.rs are roughly equivalent in predictive *** test has additional clinical utility to the current diagnostic standard of care,but the added benefit is not substantial to justify using the test reflexively after an elevated ***:Our findings suggest these biomark.rs should not be used in binary fashion and should be understood in the context of pre-existing risk.predictors,patient’s ethnicity,cost of the test,patient life-expectancy,and patient *** are more recent diagnostic tools such as multi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging,polygenic single-nucleotide panels,IsoPSA,and miR Sentinel tests that are promising in the realm of prostate cancer screening and need to be investigated further to be considered a consensus reflexive test in the setting of prostate cancer screening.

Increased water clarity associated with zebra mussel （Dreissena polymorpha） populations may favor benthic algal primary production in freshwater systems previously dominated by pelagic phytoplank.on production. While zebra mussel-mediated water clarity effects on benthic primary production have been implicated in published reports, few production estimates are available. This study estimates benthic primary production in Oneida Lak., NY before and after zebra mussel invasion （1992）, using measured photosynthetic parameters （P^Bmax, α^β and β） from sampled benthic algal communities. In the summers of 2003 and 2004, primary production was measured as O2 evolution from algal communities on hard （cobble） and soft （sediment） substrate from several depths. We also back.ast estimates of benthic primary production from measurements of light penetration since 1975. Estimates of whole-lak. epipelic and epilithic algal primary production showed a significant （4%） increase and exhibited significantly less interannual variability subsequent to the establishment of zebra mussels. We applied our model to two lak.s of differing trophic status; the model significantly overestimated benthic primary production in a hypereutrophic lak., but there was no significant difference between the actual and predicted primary production values in the oligotrophic lak.. The hypereutrophic lak. had higher zebra mussel densities than Oneida （224 vs. 41 per sample respectively）. Though total community respiration （measured in total dark.ess） was factored into our model predictions of production, our model may need modification when heterotrophic respiration is a large portion of total community metabolism.

逆向工程中的点云数据压缩正受到越来越多的关注。它是模型重构和配准的基础。点云数据压缩后,可以改善重构以及配准的速度。在保持原始点云形状的基础上,提出了一种数据压缩算法。首先计算每一点处的法向量并且通过相邻点法向量间的关系去除坏点,然后计算每一点的曲度,最后通过移动球检测控制点并且简化点云。实验表明该算法在保持点云几何形状的同时,能够有效地降低点云数量。

Female grasshoppers can affect the fitness of their offspring through their selection of oviposition site. k.owledge of soil type on oviposition, and its effects on subsequent development can provide guidelines for habitat manipulations that reduce the harmful effects of these pests on farmers fields. The influence of soil types on the oviposition site preference of variegated grasshopper (Zonocerus variegatus L.) reared some cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) varieties, was investigated in a cage trial carried out at the Bio factory laboratory, School of Agriculture and Food Sciences, Njala University, Sierra Leone during 2022/2023. The treatments comprised three soil types (Sandy, Loamy and Clay), each with three replications laid out in a randomized complete block.design (RCBD) in wooden cages. Data were collected on the following development parameters including, Net reproductive growth ratio (R0), Generation time (Tc), Intrinsic rate of increase (rm), Finite rate of increase (), Doubling time (Dt), and overall survivorship. Findings revealed that, Z. variegatus L. preferred sandy soil in which, on average, most eggs were deposited (338, 6.62 4.40), followed by loamy soil, 286 (5.53 3.96), and then, clayey soil, 200 (3.91 3.85);though, the differences were not significant. This study established that Z. variegatus deposited more eggs in sandy soil > loamy soil > clayey soil, respectively;and subsequent survivorship of the immature unto mature adult insect, revealed a similar order. This indicates that the sandy soil is the most preferred substrate for oviposition and subsequent development into adult insects.

Inhibition of guanosine triphosphate（GTP） and cytidine triphosphate（CTP） biosynthetic pathways induces cells to assemble rod/ring（RR） structures,also named cytoophidia,which consist of the enzymes cytidine triphosphate synthase（CTPS） and inosine-50-monophosphate dehydrogenase 2（IMPDH2）.We aim to explore the interaction of CTPS and IMPDH2 in the generation of RR *** La and COS-7 cells were cultured in normal conditions or in the presence of 6-diazo-5-oxo-L-norleucine（DON）,ribavirin,or mycophenolic acid（MPA）.Over 90% of DON-treated cells presented RR *** He La cells,35% of the RR structures were positive for IMPDH2 alone,26% were CTPS alone,and 31% were IMPDH2/CTPS mixed,while in COS-7 cells,42% of RR were IMPDH2 alone,41% were CTPS alone,and 10% were IMPDH2/CTPS *** and MPA treatments induced only IMPDH2-based *** were also transfected with an N-terminal hemagglutinin（NHA）-tagged CTPS1 *** 95% of NHA-CTPS1 transfected cells with DON treatment presented IMPDH2-based RR and almost 100% presented CTPS1-based RR;when treated with ribavirin,over 94% of transfected cells presented IMPDH2-based RR and 37% presented CTPS1-based RR,whereas 2% of untreated transfected cells presented IMPDH2-based RR and 28% presented CTPS1-based *** results may help in understanding the relationship between CTP and GTP biosynthetic pathways,especially concerning the formation of filamentous RR structures.
