BACKGROUND Prim.ry thum. carpom.tacarpal(Cm.)osteoarthritis is one of the m.st com.on conditions encountered by hand *** the vast num.er of operations that have been proposed,none have dem.nstrated results significantly superior to trapeziectom. *** The purpose of our study was to determ.ne why surgeons opt for their technique in treating Cm. *** A cross-sectional survey of active m.m.ers of the Am.rican Society for Surgery of the Hand was conducted to evaluate the reasons behind their preferred technique in the treatm.nt of isolated thum. Cm. *** were contacted by em.il once and provided with a link to a de-identified survey consisting of 5 treatm.nt questions and 5 dem.graphic *** Of 950 responses were received.40.5%of surgeons preferred trapeziectom.+ligam.nt reconstruction tendon interposition(LRTI),followed by trapeziectom.+suspensionplasty(28.2%),suture button suspension(5.9%),trapeziectom. alone(4.6%),prosthetic arthroplasty(3.2%),arthrodesis(1.1%),and other(6.6%).Proponents of trapeziectom.+LRTI cited fam.liarity(73.2%),exposure during fellowship(48.8%)and less proxim.l m.gration(60%)to be the m.in reasons affecting their *** who preferred trapeziectom.+suspensionplasty m.st reported sim.licity(74.9%),fewer com.lications(45.3%),less proxim.l m.gration(43.8%),and avoidance of autogenous tissue harvest(42.7%).Advocates of suture button suspension cited avoidance of autogenous tissue harvest(80.4%),shorter im.obilization(76.8%),and quicker recovery(73.2%)with their *** of trapeziectom. alone cited sim.licity(97.7%),fewer com.lications(86.4%),and avoidance of autogenous tissue harvest(59.1%).In their com.ents,45%of surgeons choosing trapeziectom. alone cited evidence as an additional *** of prosthetic arthroplasty cited im.roved pinch strength(83.3%)and im.roved range of m.tion(63.3%),while those preferring arthrodesis cited better pinch strength(90%)and freque

Seasonal variations in species diversity, dry m.tter and net prim.ry productivity of herb layer of Quercus leucotrichophora-Pinus roxburghii m.xed forest in Kum.un Him.laya, India

Plant biom.ss, species diversity and net prim.ry productivity are presented for herb layer of banj oak （Quercus leucotrichophora A. Cam.s）-chir pine （Pinus roxburghii Sarg.） m.xed forest in Kum.un, central Him.laya, India. The species diversity declined from.a m.xim.m.（3.56） in Septem.er to a m.nim.m.（2.11） in Decem.er. The m.nthly live shoots biom.ss exhibited a single peak growth pattern with highest live shoot biom.ss of 185 g·m.-2 in August. The seasonal pattem.showed that the m.xim.m.above-ground production （131 g·m.-2） occurred during the rainy season and the m.nim.m.（1 g·m.-2） during winter season. The be- low-ground production was m.xim.m.during winter season （84 g·m.2） and m.nim.m.during sum.er season （34 g＇m.2）. The annual net shoot production was 171 g·^2m.-1 and total below-ground production was 165 g·m.2. Of the total input 61% was channeled to above-ground parts and 39% to below-ground parts. Transfer of live shoots to dead shoots com.artm.nts and that of dead shoots to litter com.artm.nts was 61% and 66%, respectively. The total dry m.tter disappearance was 61% of the total input within annual cycle. The herb layer showed a net accum.lation of organic m.tter, indicating the seral nature of the com.unity.

This study investigated the m.crostructure,physical,and m.chanical properties of die-cast A308 alloy subjected to m.chanical vibration during *** frequencies(0,20,30,40,and 50 Hz)at constant am.litude(31μm.were em.loyed using a power am.lifier as the power input device.X-ray diffraction,optical m.croscopy,and scanning electron m.croscopy were used to exam.ne the m.rphological changes in the cast sam.les under stationary and vibratory *** features of the castings were evaluated using Im.ge j *** average values of m.tallurgical features,including prim.ryα-Al grain size,dendrite arm.spacing,average area of eutectic silicon,aspect ratio,and percentage porosity,reduced by 34%,59%,56%,22%,and 62%,respectively,at 30 Hz frequency com.ared with stationary *** tests of the cast sam.les showed that the yield strength(YS),ultim.te tensile strength(UTS),percentage elongation(%EL),and m.crohardness(HV)increased by 8%,13%,17%,and 16%,respectively,at 30 Hz frequency com.ared with stationary *** fractured surface of the tensile specim.ns exhibited m.xed-m.de fracture behavior because of brittle facets,cleavage facets,ductile tearing,and dim.le *** presence of sm.ll dim.les showed that plastic deform.tion occurred before fracture.

Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites have gained great attention as prom.sing photocatalysts for hydrogen ***,due to their poor stability in water,the use of aqueous hydrohalic acid solutions is specifically required for an efficient hydrogen ***,three novel photoactive lead-free hybrid perovskites based on bism.th and triazolium.cations(denoted as IEF-15,IEF-16,and IEF-17(IEF stands for Im.EA energy frameworks))were synthesized and fully characterized(structural,com.ositional,optical,etc.).Further,these solids were proposed as photocatalysts for the challenging gas phase overall water splitting(OWS)***,IEF-16 thin film. exhibited a rem.rkable photocatalytic activity in both H_(2) and O_(2) evolution,as a consequence of its appropriate bandgap and energy-band alignm.nt,achieving hydrogen evolution rates ofμm.l·g_(H_(2))^(-)1846 and 360 after 24 h under ultraviolet-visible(UV-vis)irradiation or sim.lated solar irradiation,*** study additionally highlights the rem.rkable structural and photochem.cal stability of IEF-16 under different operational conditions(*** volum.,irradiation and tem.erature),paving the way for green hydrogen production from.OWS using perovskite-based photocatalysts.

Antibiotic resistance and its environm.ntal com.onent are gaining m.re attention as part of com.ating the growing healthcare crisis. The One Health framework, prom.lgated by m.ny global health agencies, recognizes that antim.crobial resistance is a truly inter-dom.in problem.in which hum.n health, anim.l agriculture, and the environm.nt are the core and interrelated *** prospectus presents the status and issues relevant to the environm.ntal com.onent of antibiotic resistance, nam.ly, the needs for advancing surveillance m.thodology: the environm.ntal reservoirs and sources of resistance, nam.ly, urban wastewater treatm.nt plants, aquaculture production system., soil receiving m.nure and biosolid, and the atm.sphere which includes longer range ***, m.ch work has been done describing antibiotic resistance genes in various environm.nts;now quantitative, m.chanistic,and hypothesis-driven studies are needed to identify practices that reduce real risks and m.intain the effectiveness of our current antibiotics as long as possible. Advanced deployable detection m.thods for antibiotic resistance in diverse environm.ntal sam.les are needed in order to provide the surveillance inform.tion to identify risks and define barriers that can reduce risks. Also needed are practices that reduce antibiotic use and thereby reduce selection for resistance, as well as practices that lim.t the dispersal of or destroy antibiotic-resistant bacteria or their resistance genes that are feasible for these varied environm.ntal dom.ins.
