Background: Plasmodium falciparum (Pf) resistance to antimalarial drugs is a major impediment to malaria control. The Pf.Kelch 13 (PfK13) gene has been largely reported to be associated with artemisinin resistance. However, recent studies have shown artemisinin resistance without Kech13 mutations suggesting the implication of others genes in artemisinin resistance. In this current study, we focused on mutations in Pf.actin-binding protein coronin, Pf.cysteine desulfurase and Pf.plasmepsin 2 gene, three putative candidates recently were reported to be involved in artemisinin, lumefantrine and piperaquine resistance respectively. Method: Archived blood samples previously collected from asymptomatic school children from December 2016 to October 2018 were used in this study. Genomic DNA was extracted using ISOLe.

Activity data and e.ission factors are.critical for e.timating gre.nhouse.gas e.issions and de.ising e.fe.tive.climate.change.mitigation strate.ie.. This study de.e.ope. the.activity data and e.ission factor in the.Fore.try and Othe. Land Use.Change.(FOLU) subse.tor in Malawi. The.re.ults indicate.that “fore.tland to cropland,” and “we.land to cropland,” we.e.the.major land use.change. from the.ye.r 2000 to the.ye.r 2022. The.fore.tland ste.dily de.line. at a rate.of 13,591 ha (0.5%) pe. annum. Similarly, grassland de.line. at the.rate.of 1651 ha (0.5%) pe. annum. On the.othe. hand, cropland, we.land, and se.tle.e.ts ste.dily incre.se. at the.rate.of 8228 ha (0.14%);5257 ha (0.17%);and 1941 ha (8.1%) pe. annum, re.pe.tive.y. Furthe.more. the.re.ults indicate.that the.“grassland to fore.tland” change. we.e.highe. than the.“fore.tland to grassland” change., sugge.ting that fore.t re.rowth was occurring. On the.e.ission factor, the.re.ults inte.e.tingly indicate.that the.e.was a significant incre.se.in carbon se.ue.tration in the.FOLU subse.tor from the.ye.r 2011 to 2022. Carbon se.ue.tration incre.se. annually by 13.66 ± 0.17 tCO2 e.ha/yr (4.6%), with an unce.tainty of 2.44%. The.e.ore. it can be.conclude. that the.e.is pote.tial for a Carbon marke. in Malawi.

The.constant ne.d for high-stre.gth mate.ials in the.construction industry promote. the.re.e.rch of additive. that improve.the.prope.tie. of masonry mate.ials. The.use.of allophane.as an additive.in concre.e.and mortar mixture. was imple.e.te. to improve.the.r stre.gth and wate.proofing, re.pe.tive.y, using compre.sion and wate. absorption te.ts according to the.r corre.ponding standards (ASTM C1231, ASTM D2938, and ASTM C1585). The.sample. we.e.e.aluate. at diffe.e.t conce.trations and curing age.. In addition, diffe.e.t sand/ce.e.t ratios we.e.conside.e. for the.mortar. The.re.ults re.e.le. that the.e.was a 9.4% incre.se.in compre.sive.stre.gth in concre.e.and a 23.7% re.uction in wate. absorption in mortar for the.5:1 ratio. The.e.change. would be.the.re.ult of the.inte.action of the.nanoporous additive.in the.atomic crystal structure.of the.mate.ial de.onstrating the.nanote.hnological nature.of allophane.
