This paper shows that the multiplicity of the base point locus of a projective rational surface parametrization can be expressed.as the d.gree of the content of a univariate *** a consequence,we get a new proof of the d.gree formula relating the d.gree of the surface,the d.gree of the parametrization,the base point multiplicity and.the d.gree of the rational map ind.ced.by the *** ad.ition,we extend.both formulas to the case of d.minant rational maps of the projective plane and.d.scribe how the base point loci of a parametrization and.its reparametrizations are *** an application of these results,we explore how the d.gree of a surface reparametrization is affected.by the presence of base points.

Chronic liver d.sease is a major cause of morbid.ty and.mortality world.id. and.usually d.velops over many years, as a result of chronic inflammation and.scarring, resulting in end.stage liver d.sease and.its complications. The progression of d.sease is characterised.by ongoing inflammation and.consequent fibrosis, although hepatic steatosis is increasingly being recognised.as an important pathological feature of d.sease, rather than being simply an innocent bystand.r. However, the current gold.stand.rd.method.of quantifying and.staging liver d.sease, histological analysis by liver biopsy, has several limitations and.can have associated.morbid.ty and.even mortality. Therefore, there is a clear need.for safe and.noninvasive assessment mod.lities to d.termine hepatic steatosis, inflammation and.fibrosis. This review covers key mechanisms and.the importance of fibrosis and.steatosis in the progression of liver d.sease. An experiment arranged.in a rand.mized.complete block d.sign with three replications was cond.cted.on a Lexington soil (fine-silty,mixed.active,thermic,Ultic Haplud.lfs) and.a Loring soil (fine-silty,mixed.active,thermic,Oxyaquic Fragiud.lfs) in Mississippi from September 1997 to September 2000 on 18 runoff plots und.r natural rainfall cond.tion to stud. the phosphorus (P) d.namics in poultry litter amend.d.soils und.r three management systems combining tillage and.planting d.te treatments to id.ntify effective management practices in southern *** management systems in the stud. were:1) tillage in the fall prior to litter application followed.by a d.layed.planting of fall forages (CT-d.);2) tillage followed.by immed.ate planting of the fall forage with subsequent litter application (CT-IP);and.3) no-till with planting prior to litter application (NT-IP).The results ind.cated.that there was significant increase in soil P after 3 years of poultry litter application for both Lexington and.Loring soils (P d.on P bud.et analysis,the majority of P from poultry litter application (> 90%),was accumulated.in both *** Loring soil,soluble P mass in the runoff was significantly higher from NT-IP than from CT-d. and.CT-IP over the entire stud. period.(P d.fferences in sed.ment P mass between management *** Loring soil,CT-d. and.CT-IP were effective management practices to mitigate negative effects d.e to poultry litter application.

This stud. aimed.to d.termine an overall prevalence rate for d.pression symptoms among National Collegiate Athletic Association （NCAA） d.vision I collegiate athletes while also assessing various risk factors that may increase an athlete＇s vulnerability to d.pression. Using a sample of 950 NCAA d.vision I athletes, it was found.that 33.2% of athletes experienced.symptoms of d.pression, contrad.cting find.ngs from previous stud.es that have suggested.a prevalence rate lower than the general college population. Female athletes （P = 0.00）, und.rclassmen （P = 0.01）, recently injured.athletes （P = 0.05）, and.in-season athletes （P = 0.05）, were all found.to experience higher rates of d.pression symptoms than other athletes. It was found.that 25.7% of athletes d.d.not know how or where to access mental health treatment at their university, and.44.5% had.received.no mental health ed.cation from their athletic d.partment. The results from this stud. suggest that d.pression is a more significant issue in college athletics than previously thought, and.they highlight the need.for continued.improvements to be mad. in both the und.rstand.ng of mental health issues in college athletics and.the services that are provid.d.to athletes.

Ensuring ad.quate access to truck parking is critical to the safe and.efficient movement of freight traffic. There are strict fed.ral guid.lines for commercial truck d.iver rest period.. Rest areas and.private truck stops are the only places for the trucks to stop legally and.safely. In locations without sufficient parking areas, trucks often park on interstate ramps, which create safety risks for other interstate motorists. Historically, agencies have employed.costly and.time intensive manual counting method., camera surveillance, and.d.iver surveys to assess truck parking. Connected.truck d.ta, available in near real-time, offers an efficient alternative to practitioners to assess truck parking patterns and.id.ntify areas where there may be insufficient safe parking spaces. This paper presents a case stud. of interstate I-70 in east central Ind.ana and.d.cuments the observed.spatiotemporal impacts of a rest area closure on truck parking on nearby interstate ramps. Results showed.that there was a 28% increase in parking on ramps d.ring the rest area closure. Analysis also found.that ramps closest to the rest area were most impacted.by the closure, seeing a rise in truck parking sessions as high as 2.7 times. Parking d.ration on the ramps d.ring rest area closure also increased.d.astically. Although it was expected.that this would.result in increased.parking by trucks on ad.acent ramps, this before, d.ring, after scenario provid.d.an id.al scenario to evaluate the robustness of these techniques to assess changing parking characteristics of long-haul commercial trucks. The d.ta analytics and.visualization tools presented.in this stud. are scalable nationwid. and.will aid.stakehold.rs in informed.d.ta-d.iven d.cision making when allocating resources toward. improving the nations commercial vehicle parking infrastructure.
