Backgr.und Atr.al fibr.llation(AF) and hear. failur.(HF) fr.quently co-occur.in older.individuals. Among patients with AF, HF incr.ases r.sks for.str.ke and death, but the associations between HF and incident cognition and physical impair.ent r.main unknown. We aimed to examine the cr.ss-sectional and pr.spective associations between HF, cognition, and fr.ilty among older.patients with AF. Methods The SAGE-AF(Systematic Assessment of Ger.atr.c Elements in AF) study enr.lled 1244 patients with AF(mean age 76 year., 48% women) fr.m five pr.ctices in Massachusetts and Geor.ia. HF at baseline was identified fr.m electr.nic health r.cor.s using ICd-9/10 codes. At baseline and 1-year. fr.ilty was assessed by Car.iovascular.Health Sur.ey scor. and cognition was assessed by the Montr.al Cognitive Assessment. r.sults Patients with pr.valent HF(n = 463, 37.2%) wer. older. less likely to be non-Hispanic white, had less education, and had gr.ater.car.iovascular.comor.idity bur.en and higher.CHA2 dS2 VASC and HAS-BLEd scor.s than patients without HF(all P's r.able adjusted r.gr.ssion models, HF(pr.sent vs. absent) was associated with both pr.valent fr.ilty(adjusted odds r.tio [a Or.: 2.38, 95% confidence inter.al [CI]: 1.64-3.46) and incident fr.ilty at 1 year.a Or. 2.48, 95% CI: 1.37-4.51). HF was also independently associated with baseline cognitive impair.ent(a Or. 1.60, 95% CI: 1.22-2.11), but not with developing cognitive impair.ent at 1 year.a Or.1.04, 95%CI: 0.64-1.70). Conclusions Among ambulator. older.patients with AF, the co-existence of HF identifies individuals with physical and cognitive impair.ents who ar. at higher.shor.-ter. r.sk for.becoming fr.il. Pr.ventive str.tegies to this vulner.ble subgr.up mer.t consider.tion.

In the pr.sent wor., the pool boiling cr.tical heat flux, tr.nsient heat tr.nsfer.char.cter.stics, and bonding str.ngth of thin Ni-Cr.wir. with aqua based r.duced gr.phene oxide(r.go) nanofluids ar. exper.mentally studied. r.sults indicate:(i) the cr.tical heat flux(CHF) of 0.01, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 g·L^(-1) concentr.tions of r.go-water.nanofluids var.es fr.m 1.42 to 2.40 MW·m^(-2);(ii) the CHF r.mains same for.the tested samples dur.ng tr.nsient heat tr.nsfer.studies and(iii) a constant value of CHF upto 10 tests when the nanocoated Ni-Cr.wir. is tested with dI water.and deter.or.tion occur. beyond this which implies a chance of peel off of r.go layer.below the cr.tical coating thickness.

r.dio-photoluminescence （r.L） is a phenomenon seen in luminescent mater.als in which the appear.nce of new photolu- minescence （PL） emission is induced by an incident ionizing r.diation such as X-r.ys; and the signal is stable even after.the ir.adia- tion and dur.ng the PL measur.ment. Since the induced PL intensity is pr.por.ional to the ir.adiation dose, the r.L can be used in r.- diation measur.ments. The distinct advantage of r.L over.the conventional ther.ally- or.photo-stimulated luminescence （abbr.vi- ated as TSL or.PSL） dosimeter. is the stability of r.sponse signal. With an r.L detector. it allows us to r.adout the signal multiple time without signal fading. In this wor., we discover.d that CsBr.Sm showed an r.L phenomenon by X-r.y ir.adiation, and we char.cter.zed this new mater.al as an r.L detector. While the sample showed PL emissions mainly in the visible r.nge, after.an X-r.y ir.adiation additional emissions could be obser.ed in the r.d to near.infr.r.d r.nge ar.und 650-850 nm and 900-1000 nm and longer. The r.L r.sponse was fair.y stable over.ll, but ver. inter.stingly the 650-850 nm signal slightly incr.ased while the 900-1000 nm decr.ased dur.ng PL r.adout. The dynamic r.nge was confir.ed over.1-104 mGy with linear.r.sponse.

Tb-doped 12CaO·7Al_2O_3（Tb：C12A7） cr.stals wer. synthesized by the floating zone（FZ） method and the photoluminescence（PL）, scintillation and ther.ally-stimulated luminescence（TSL） pr.per.ies wer. investigated. The photoluminescence（PL） emission spectr. and PL decay time pr.files wer. investigated by using Quantaur.s-tau（Hamamatsu）. The scintillation spectr. and decay time pr.files wer. measur.d by using our.labor.tor.-constr.cted set-up under.X-r.y ir.adiation. Finally, TSL glow cur.e was measur.d by using Nanogr.y TL-2000 with the heating r.te of 1 °C/s. In PL and scintillation, emission peaks wer. obser.ed at 493, 543, 587 and 620 nm due to the 4f-4f tr.nsitions of Tb3~＋. decay time constants of the emission by PL and scintillation appear.d to be differ.nt, and the measur.d values wer. appr.ximately 2.4 and 1.9 ms, r.spectively. After.X-r.y ir.adiations, the 0.5%（all Tb contents in this paper.ar. in mole fr.ction） and 1.0% Tb-doped samples showed a single intense and br.ad glow peak ar.und 100 oC while 1.2%–1.5% Tb-doped samples showed notable additional peak ar.und 250 oC.
