Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is a disease produced by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SArS-CoV-2)and it is currently causing a catastrophic pandemic affecting humans *** disease has been lethal for approximately 3.12 million people around the world since January ***,among the most affected countries,Mexico ranks third in deaths after the United States of America and *** the high number of deceased people might also be explained by social aspects and lifestyle customs in Mexico,there is a relationship between this high proportion of deaths and comorbidities such as high blood pressure(HBp),type 2 diabetes,obesity,and metabolic *** official epidemiological figures reported by the Mexican government have indicated that 18.4%of the population suffers from HBp,close to 10.3%of adults suffer from type 2 diabetes,and approximately 36.1%of the population suffers from *** in the gut microbiota(GM)have been associated with these diseases and with COVID-19 severity,presumably due to inflammatory *** data about the association between GM dysbiosis and metabolic diseases could suggest that the high levels of susceptibility to SArSCoV-2 infection and COVID-19 morbidity in the Mexican population are primarily due to the prevalence of type 2 diabetes,obesity,and metabolic syndrome.

Objectives:To determine whether air pollution or changes in SArS-CoV-2 lineages lead to an increase in ***:Descriptive statistics were used to calculate rates of infection(2020-2021).rT epCr was used to compare viral loads from October 2020 to February *** sequencing(NGS)(n=92)was used to examine and phylogenetically map SArS-CoV-2 lineages.A correlative“air pollution/temperature”index(I)was developed using regression ***_(2.5),pM_(10),O_(3),NO_(2),SO_(2),and CO concentrations were analyzed and compared to the ***:The mortality rate during the last year was~32%.relative SArS-CoV-2 viral loads increased in December 2020 and January *** revealed that approximately 80%of SArS-CoV-2 linages were B.1.243(33.7%),B1.1.222(11.2%),B.1.1(9%),B.1(7%),B.1.1.159(7%),and B.1.2(7%).Two periods were analyzed,the prehigh-and high-mortality periods and no significant lineage differences or new lineages were *** correlations of air pollution/temperature index values with mortality were found for IpM_(2.5) and IpM_(10).INO_(2).ISO_(2),and ICO but not for O_(3).Using ICO,we developed a model to predict mortality with an estimated variation of~±5 deaths per day.

Maize seed coatings and seedling sprayings with chitosan and hydrogen peroxide:their influence on some phenological and biochemical behaviors

Objective： To evaluate the effect of chitosan （CH） and hydrogen peroxide （H2O） seed coatings and seedling sprinklings on two different maize varieties by measuring their phenology, the H202 presence, the catalase （CAT） activity, and the protein quantity. Methods： Seven groups of ten seeds for each maize variety were treated with CH （2% （20 g/L） and 0.2% （2 g/L）） or H2O2 （8 mmol/L） by coating, sprinkling, or both. Germination and seedling growth were measured. One month after germination, the presence of H202 in seedlings in the coated seed treatments was evaluated. protein content and CAT activity were determined under all treatments. results： H2O2 seed coating en- hanced the germination rate and increased seedling and stem length in the quality protein maize （QpM） variety. Seedlings had a higher emergence velocity under this treatment in both varieties. CH and H2O2 sprinklings did not have an effect on seedling phenology. Exogenous application of H2O2 promoted an increase of endogenousH2O2. OH and H2O2seedling sprinkling increased the protein content in both maize varieties, while there was no significant effect on the CAT activity of treated seeds and seedlings. Conclusions： CH and H2O2 enhance some phenological and biochemical features of maize depending on their method of application.

The present work was aimed to obtain a model for the determination of the leaf area in function of the length and width of the leaves in pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) hybrid Salvador. The research was carried out in nursery conditions at the Experimental Campus La Teodomira, located in the parish of Lodana, Santa Ana, province of Manabí, Ecuador, in 2016, in the stages of initiation of flowering and flowering-fructification. In each phase 100 physiologically mature leaves of different sizes were collected. Leaves were digitalized in a rectangle with known dimensions, which allowed the area to be calculated through the percentage of pixels of different colors. From the determination of the length and maximum width of each leaf and the estimated area through the digitization process, the regression models were obtained, selecting the better fit generated between the leaf area and the product of the length by the maximum width of the leaf (). In the initiation of flowering stage the quadratic model generated the best coefficient of determination (r2 = 0.958), whereas in the flowering-fructification stage the best coefficient of determination was achieved by the cubic model (r2 = 0.955). The practical applicability of other simpler models among the tested ones, which show a high accuracy and sacrifice a low percentage of error, is discussed.

Automatic System for Failure Detection in Hydro-power Generators

This paper presents an automatic system for failure detection in hydro-power generators. The main idea of this system is to detect failure using current and voltage signals acquired without any type of internal interference in the generator operation. The detected failures could be mechanical or electrical origins, such as: problems in bearings, unwanted vibrations, partial discharges, misalignment, unbalancing, among others. It is possible because the generator acts as a transducer for mechanical problems, and they appear in current and voltage signals. This automatic system based on electric signature analysis has been installed in Itapebi power plant generators since 2012. Some results are presented in this paper.

Electrochemical and Microstructural Study of Ni-Cr-Mo Alloys Used in Dental prostheses

Ni-Cr-Mo alloys have been widely used as fixed dental prostheses. recast process influence on corrosion behavior of Ni-Cr-Mo dental alloy in simulated physiological serum has been investigated using chemical and electrochemical techniques. Ni-Cr-Mo alloy recast by induction (induction) or by blowtorch (torch) has exhibited similar dendritic structures with wide and precipitate grains in their boundaries. The torch alloy has presented good corrosion resistance in physiological serum. passivation process provides this corrosion resistance. passivation of Ni-Cr-Mo alloy is often attributed to the formation of a thin and compact layer of chromium oxide (Cr2O3). This film is self-limiting because it acts as a barrier to the oxygen transport and metal ions. This film stability will depend on its solubility to the working temperature. Different recast procedures change electrochemical parameters as stabilizing potential in open circuit, current density and passivation interval.

Classification of Ultrasonic Signs pre-processed by Fourier Transform through Artificial Neural Network Using the Echo pulse Technique for the Identification of Defects in Welded Joints of Structural Steel

It is due to the need to ensure the security and integrity of equipment, that the non-destructive tests have been increasingly used in the industrial sector. Among these, the ultrasonic pulse echo technique is the most used in industry, mainly for its simplicity and efficiency. With one transducer only, it is possible to emit the ultrasonic and receive the echo pulse. The ANNs （artificial neural networks） are artificial intelligence techniques that, when properly trained, align themselves to inspection tests becoming a powerful tool in the detection and fault identification. In this work, the echo pulse technique was used to detect discontinuities in welds, where ANNs were fed from the information obtained by digital signal processing techniques （Fourier transform）, to identify and classify three distinct classes of defects. results showed that with the combination of feature extraction by Fourier transformation and classification with neural networks, it is possible to obtain an automatic defect detection system in welded joints with average efficiency.

Oregano and Composite Substrates： A Mitigation Alternative for Heavy Metals Emission from Tailings Deposits in parral, Chihuahua, Mexico

The Mexican oregano ＂Lippia berlandieri Shauer＂ is a versatile plant, for multiple purposes and high potential adaptative capabilities. To evaluate the possibility to use oregano as a cover surface on tailings deposits and thereby mitigate the emission of particulate material with metals content, an experiment was carried out comparing the plant growing rate over a period of six-month in four substrates： tailings, vermicompost, ＂soil＂ of the region and a mixture of ＂tailings plus vermicompost＂. The statistical analysis shows a significant difference between treatments, resulting in the ＂soil＂ substrate with the best performance, followed by the mixture of＂tailings plus vermicompost＂ treatment. The low permeability oftailings strongly affects the adaptability and growth of the oregano plant; however, the adaptation possibilities increase in the mixture oftailings with vermicompost or ＂soil＂ of the region.

The American Kennel Club and the Fédération Cynologique Internationale recognize two phenotypic variants of Great Dane breed denominated American and European varieties. Historically, these varieties have been segregated according to morphological characteristics. In an attempt to obtain a better character.zation, breeders have been interested in the genetic parameters that could evaluate the within-breed diversity. In this document, we studied the genetic structure of Great Dane breed with 10 STr markers in 88 dogs using capillary electrophoresis. Cluster analysis, population differentiation and phylogenetic analyses revealed that American and European varieties are genetically independent. Nevertheless, within the American variety a genetic stratification was found. Additionally, a high misclassification (28%) was detected, which could be due to wrong registration or false paternity. Our results support the importance to deem genetic markers as useful tools in breeding control. Similarly, these studies serve as an accurate reference to establish standards by dog breeding associations and for choosing among dogs for inter-breeding. Nevertheless, genetic tools are only a complement of morphological methods, since both are reshuffling the control over the breeding line. Notwithstanding, this database provides an overall and scape concerning the impact of genetic diversity within-breed. Unmistakably, more databases are needed to increase the quality of the breeding line as well as the number of STr in order to study, with more detail, the genetic structure in the Great Dane race.

Early Failure Detection in power Transformers

This paper presents equipment for early detection of failures in the insulation of power transformers, checking existing partial discharges inside. The equipment involves hardware, control and signal acquisition software, and signal analysis software. This equipment has a set of algorithms that were made with intelligent extraction techniques and interpretation of data. The degradation diagnosis of the equipment insulation is based on digital signal processing algorithms for extraction of features and also in artificial intelligence algorithms that allies a mining involving all the data linked to the equipment throughout its operating life can make an assessment of the operating conditions of the equipment and suggest interventions and provide an estimated time so that they have to be made.
