The Lusitanian(Microtus lusitanicus)and the Mediterranean(Microtus duodecimcostatus)p.ne voles are recently diverged sister sp.cies endemic of.the Iberian p.ninsula that can be identiﬁed with ecological and morp.ological characters,but in areas where the 2 sp.cies co-occur,sp.cies designation may be dif.*** discrimination between *** and *** has not been achieved yet p.ssibly because of.their estimated re-cent sp.it and an evolutionary history that includes inter-sp.cies geneﬂ*** our p.evious observations on exons 5–7 of.the p.3 gene,here we analyze the p.tential use of.the p.3 genomic region as a discrimination marker of.these sp.cies by extending our analyses to several kb up.tream and downstream of.the p.3 gene and charac-terizing the degree of.genetic dif.erentiation in 7 markers within this ***,we f.lly sequenced the p.3 p.otein of.both *** observed:(i)generally high dif.erentiation in this region;(ii)*** showed in general higher values of.nucleotide and hap.otyp. diversities;(iii)the concatenated p.ylogenetic tree sep.rates the 2 sp.cies;(iv)the 2 p.3 p.oteins only dif.er in 1 amino acid;(v)4 of.the markers,2 in p.3,one in Atp.b2,and another in Wrap.3,contain sp.cies-sp.ciﬁc genetic variation thus allowing a reliable discrimination between sp.cimens f.om both sp.cies,irresp.ctive of.samp.ing location or introgression *** p.ovide ad-ditional data on the p.tative role of.p.3 in the evolution of.these sp.cies and p.esent researchers with a f.st and cost-ef.ective resource f.r *** and *** identiﬁcation.

In this work,the imp.ct of.the dop.ng p.ocess on the p.otoluminescence emission of.CaWO_(4) as a f.nction of.the concentration of.Eu^(3+) cation(0.01 mol%,0.02 mol%,0.04 mol%,0.06 mol%,0.08 mol%,and 0.10 mol%) is discussed in ***_(1-x)WO~4:xEu^(3+) samp.es were successf.lly synthesized by a simp.e cop.ecip.tation method f.llowed by microwave *** blue shif. in the absorp.ion edge conf.rms the quantum conf.nement ef.ect and the band gap.energy covers the range f.om 3.91 to 4.18 eV,as the amount of.Eu^(3+) cations *** exp.rimental results are sustained by f.rst-p.incip.es calculations,at the density f.nctional theory level,to decip.er the geometry and electronic p.op.rties,thereby enabling a more accurate and direct comp.rison between theory and exp.riment f.r the Ca_(1-x)WO_(4):xEu^(3+) structure.

The sensing cap.bility of.a Tb^(3+)-metal-organic f.amework, based on its p.otoluminescence, was used f.r detection of.methanol in ethanol f.el. It was synthesized using terbium and trimesic acid as a metal ion center and ligand, resp.ctively. p.wder X-ray dif.raction, inf.ared sp.ctroscop., thermogravimetric analysis and scanning electron microscop. were emp.oyed to characterize the synthesized MOf.76 structural f.atures. According to the results, MOf.76 was successf.lly obtained with minor synthetic modif.cation and its activated f.rm(named TbTMA) was tested as a sensor f.r methanol. Tb^(3+) luminescence intensity increases as the methanol concentration in ethanol f.el also increases and the water content does not af.ect this resp.nse. Our f.ndings indicate TbTMA as an ap.rop.iate sensor f.r evaluating ethanol f.el adulteration by methanol addition above the allowed limit.

ANN （artif.cial neural network） is a technique successf.lly emp.oyed in many ap.lications on several research f.elds. An ap.rop.iate conf.guration f.r neural networks is a tedious task, and it of.en requires the knowledge of.an exp.rt on the ap.lication. In this p.p.r, a technique f.r automatic conf.guration f.r two typ.s of.neural networks is p.esented. The multilayer p.rcep.ron and recurrent Elman are the neural networks used here. The determination of.op.imal p.rameters f.r the neural network is f.rmulated as an op.imization p.oblem, solved with the use of.meta-heuristic Mp.A （multip.e p.rticle collision algorithm）. The self.conf.guring networks are ap.lied to p.rf.rm data assimilation.

The adsorp.ion cap.cities f.r the removal of.hexavalent chromium f.om aqueous solutions by six carbon nanomaterials have been evaluated. Single-walled and multi-walled carbon nanotubes as received and af.er oxidation treatment, grap.ene oxide and reduced grap.ene oxide are the materials with dif.erent dimension and f.nctionalization comp.red in this research. Carbon nanotubes have been modif.ed using hydrogen p.roxide as oxidizing agent under microwave radiation. The oxidation treatment on carbon nanotubes has a p.sitive ef.ect increasing the adsorbent–adsorbate interaction. Rate-controlling mechanisms and equilibrium data are analyzed using non-linear models. Non-linear method is p.op.sed as the most suitable method f.r determining the kinetic and equilibrium p.rameters. The values of.adsorp.ion energy(E) obtained f.om the Dubinin–Radushkevich isotherm,have been f.und around 0.371 and 0.870 k J·mol-1, indicating p.ysical adsorp.ion. Theref.re, the p.eudo-second order model rep.esents better the kinetic exp.rimental data. The results show that the Langmuir isotherm p.ovides a slightly better f.t to the exp.rimental data comp.red with the f.eundlich isotherm, indicating homogeneous distribution of.active sites on carbon nanomaterials and monolayer adsorp.ion. The sep.ration f.ctors RLare f.und in the range of.0–1, suggesting that the adsorp.ion p.ocess is suitable f.r all adsorbents. The mechanisms f.r hexavalent chromium removal have been p.op.sed as electrostatic interactions and hydrogen bonding.

The Lusitanian and the Mediterranean p.ne voles(Microtus lusitanicus Gerbe,1879 and Microtus duodecimcostatus de Selys-Longchamp.,1839)are f.ssorial sister sp.cies and have an allop.tric p.ttern of.distribution in p.rtugal,which includes a p.tential symp.try area in the centre of.the *** p.esent study aimed to determine the validity of.using p.esence signs in the f.eld f.r discrimination of.the two sp.cies in an area of.symp.try(Northern Alentejo)and the characteristics that achieve the best classif.cation accuracy.A total of.175 trap.ing p.ots were samp.ed across the study *** to the set up.of.trap.,ten p.esence signs were randomly selected f.r measure-ments of.f.ur variables:p.op.rtion of.soil mounds,mean diameter of.mounds,p.op.rtion of.burrow op.nings and mean diameter of.burrow *** the basis of.a classif.cation tree analysis,results showed that p.esence signs can be used to discriminate p.ots inhabited by one or the other sp.cies in the studied symp.try *** character-istic that most accurately enables sp.cies identif.cation is the p.op.rtion of.burrow op.nings:f.r every ten p.es-ence signs f.und in a p.ot,if.more than eight have an op.ning,then it is inhabited by ***(*** burrow op.nings with f.w or no mounds p.esent);if.eight or f.wer have an op.ning,*** is p.esent(*** mounds with f.w or no burrow op.nings).

Unhealthy behaviors of.medical students inf.uence their attitudes toward p.eventive counseling. The burden of.chronic diseases is continually growing in develop.ng countries, emp.asizing the need f.r the increased role of.general p.actitioners in p.eventive counseling. The objective of.this study was to describe the ef.ect of.medical training on the risk p.of.les and attitudes of.medical students toward p.eventive counseling in a Colombian university. Students in their f.rst and f.f.h years of.training were surveyed using the ＂Healthy Doctor = Healthy p.tient＂ questionnaire to assess counseling attitudes; p.rsonal p.actices, such as risky drinking, smoking, inadequate nutrition, and non-comp.iance with p.ysical activity recommendations; and the university environment. The association among these comp.nents was estimated, as well as the ef.ect of.the university environment. Risky drinking and smoking decreased f.om f.rst to f.f.h year （59.3% vs. 37.1%, p.= 0.021 and 31.5~ vs. 25.9%, p.= 0.51, resp.ctively）, whereas inadequate nutrition and non-comp.iance with p.ysical activity recommendations increased. p.ysical activity （p.） was associated with p.sitive counseling attitude （ORs： nutrition 7.6; alcohol 5.2; p. 10.6）. Areas governed by institutional p.licies that are emp.asized in the curriculum p.sitively af.ected student p.actices. p. p.omoted p.eventive counseling and healthy lif.styles most ef.ectively. Universities should theref.re strengthen their p.eventive medicine curricula and modif. social determinants.
