Raising the efficiency of production, for the most part depends on the use of secondary material resources, particularly such wastes as metallurgical slags of the operating plants. Huge quantity of such slags generates an urgent problem of their reasonable utilization with maximum extraction of valuable metals. The objective of the thesis is the development of an efficient technology for obtaining powder iron-monosilicon alloy by means of processing of iron and silicon containing dump slags on the basis of out-of-furnace aluminothermic reduction. Thus, structure of the obtained alloy strоngly depends on the state of the initial slags, on their correlation and on the amount of components contained in the complement of the burden. The structurization processes of the iron powder-like silicide obtained by the method of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis of the preliminarily mechano activated burden are investigated. The combination of these two methods allows to form unique materials and alloys, significantly reducing the power expenditure by applying the exothermal effect of the reactions, and to obtain a product with special physico-chemical properties. The results of the investigation are to obtain monophase iron silicide by preliminary mechano-chemical activation of the burden, containing a mixture of wastes of a certain composition obtained from metallurgical production—the Alaverdi copper-smelting and the Yerevan molybdenum factories, as well as KNO3 and CaO by combined aluminothermal reduction in the SHS regime. By the X-ray fluorescent method of analysis, the structurization process of the obtained alloy is studied. It is shown that, at the expense of preliminary mechano-chemical activation of the burden, a finer and homogeneous structure of powder-like iron silicide is formed.

High precision manufacturing, e.g. milling and grinding, which have manufacturing tolerances in the range of <10 μm require microscopic measurement techniques for the inspection of the manufactured components. These measurement techniques are very sensitive to cooling liquids and lubricants which are essential for many manufacturing processes. Therefore, the measurement of the components is usually conducted in separate and clean laboratories and not directly in the manufacturing machine. This approach has some major drawbacks, e.g. high time consumption and no possibility for online process monitoring. In this article, a novel concept for the integration of high precision optical topography measurement systems into the manufacturing machine is introduced and compared to other concepts. The introduced concept uses a reservoir with cooling liquid in which the measurement object is immersed during the measurement. Thereby, measurement disturbance by splashing cooling liquids and lubricants can effectively be avoided.

Powder iron monosilicide with certain structure exhibits magnetic properties and can be used as an alloying additive in the production of electrical steels and silicon alloys with special physical and chemical properties. From this point of view, development of the energy-saving technology for receiving such a valuable alloying agent with the disposal of secondary waste is an urgent task. For this purpose, the method of joint aluminothermic reduction of preliminary mechanically activated metallurgical waste is offered. Recently, a method for combining the self-propagating high-temperature synthesis and preliminary mechanical activation for obtaining metal powders with certain phase composition and structure is considered as one of the efficient ones. As the initial materials for obtaining iron monosilicide, the waste (or converter) slags of the Alaverdi copper-smelting plant and molybdenum slags of the Yerevan Pure Iron Plant are used. Besides the mentioned slags, NaNO3 and CaO are added. Properties and structure of the received silicide depend on the contents, quantity of components, and the mass relation of two wastes in the burden. Therefore, the processes of structure formation of the iron monosilicide received from metallurgical waste are investigated. Studies have shown that the best results are obtained in case of waste and molybdenum slag relation of 4:1, when the 60-minute grinding in the vibromill leads to a significant increase in the mechanical activation of the burden. At this relation of FeO and SiO2, a condition is created for receiving iron monosilicide showing magnetic properties. On the whole, those transformations lead to a decrease in the reaction activation power of the interacting substances, an increase of the reactivity capacities, as well as to a new original course of reactions and new modified materials.

Retrotransposons,a type of DNA fragment that can mobilize itself on genome,can generate genetic variations and develop for molecular markers based on the insertion *** finger proteins(ZNFs)are among the most abundant proteins in eukaryotic animals,and their functions are extraordinarily diverse and particularly important in gene *** the current study,bioinformatic prediction was performed to screen for retrotransposon insertion polymorphisms(RIPs)in six ZNF genes(ZNF2,ZNF3,ZNF7,ZNF8,ZNF10 and ZNF12).Six RIPs in these ZNFs,including one short interspersed nuclear element(SINE)RIP in intron 1 and one long interspersed nuclear element 1(L1)RIP in intron 3 of ZNF2,one SINE RIP in 5′flanking region and one SINE RIP in intron 2 of ZNF3,one SINE RIP in 3′UTR of ZNF7 and one L1 RIP in intron 2 of ZNF12,were discovered and their presence was confirmed by *** impact of the SINE RIP in the first intron of ZNF2,which is close to the core promoter of ZNF2,on the gene activity was investigated by dual-luciferase assay in three cell *** results showed that the SINE insertion in the intron 1 of ZNF2 repressed the core promoter activity extremely significantly(P<0.01)in cervical cancer cells and porcine primary embryonic fibroblasts(HeLa and PEF),thus SINE may act as a *** SINE RIP also significantly(P<0.05)affected the corrected back fat thickness in Yorkshire *** corrected back fat thickness of individuals with SINE insertion in the first intron of ZNF2 was significantly(P<0.05)higher than that of individuals without SINE *** summary,our data suggested that RIPs play important roles in the genetic variations of these ZNF genes and SINE RIP in the intron 1 of ZNF2 may provide a useful molecular marker for the screening of fat deposition in the pig breeding.

Comparison of the patient and partner satisfaction with 700CX and Titan penile prostheses

Most widespread three-component penile prosthesis models are 700CXTM and Titan~. Our purpose is to assess patient and partner satisfaction after the first implant. This is a multicenter, retrospective, nonrandomized study in which all patients who met the inclusion criteria between 2009 and 2013 were included. In total, 248 patients agreed to participate. To evaluate patient satisfaction, a validated but modified 11-question questionnaire was completed （EDITS）; and a nonvalidated two-item questionnaire was given to the partner. Statistical analysis used an ordinal logistic regression model. Two hundred and forty-eight patients （194 with 700CXTM vs 54 with Titan） and 207 couples completed the questionnaire （165 with 700CXTM vs 42 with Titan）. Overall satisfaction was high. Both showed great reliability for sexual intercourse and high compliance with prior expectations. Most patients were able to manage the penile prosthesis correctly within 6 months. Postoperative penile shortening led to some dissatisfaction in 42% and 46% of cases （700CX/Titan）. Significant differences were found in three questions of patients＇ questionnaire. There were more patients satisfied with the 700CXTM （P= 0.0001）. No patient with Titan implant took longer than 6 months to optimal management. Only 4% of patients with 700CXTM implant were dissatisfied with the deflation, in contrast to 24% with the Titan （P = 0.0031）. Of the two partners＇ questions, one showed a statistically significant difference （P = 0.0026）. It seems that group 700CX＂ would recommend to re-implant the prosthesis with a greater tendency. The overall satisfaction was very high for both prostheses. The final aspect of the erected and flaccid penis was satisfactory, but both groups showed significant discontent with its final size. Partners＇ overall satisfaction was high.

One of important tasks of IFToMM is attraction of youth attention to profound study of mechanism and machine science. To solve this task, special youth programs are developed, various discounts are provided for young researchers＇ participation in IFToMM congresses and conferences. A new progressive type of such an activity is organization of Student International Olympiads （SIO） on Mechanism and Machine Science （MMS） which can be considered a new advantageous form of MMS study. The paper describes experiences of organization and holding the first SIO MMS, which took place on April 19-21,2011 in Izhevsk （Russia） at Izhevsk State Technical University.

Headphones with an integrated active noise cancellation system have been increasingly introduced to the consumer market in recent years. When exposing the human ear to active noise sources in this striking distance, the ensuring of a safe sound pressure level is vital. In feedback systems, this is coupled with the stability of the closed control loop; stable controller design is thus essential. However, changes in the control path during run-time can cause the stable control system to become unstable, resulting in an overdrive of the speakers in the headphones. This paper proposes a method, which enables the real-time analysis of the current system state and if necessary stabilizes the closed loop while maintaining the active noise reduction. This is achieved by estimating and evaluating the open loop behavior with an adaptive filter and subsequently limiting the controller gain in respect to the stability margin.

A mechatronic system based on the micro-macro-kinematic consists of an industrial robot and a piezoelectric stage mounted on the robot’s end-effector and has to carry out operations like micro-assembly or micro-milling. The piezoelectric stage has to compensate the positioning error of the robot. Therefore, the position of the robot’s end-effector has to be measured with high accuracy. This paper presents a high accuracy 6D-measurement system, which is used to determine the position and orientation of the robot’s end-effector. We start with the description of the operational concept and components of the measurement system. Then we look at image processing methods, camera calibration and reconstruction methods and choose the most accurate ones. We apply the well-known pin-hole camera model to calibrate single cameras. Then we apply the epipolar geometry to describe the relationship between two cameras and calibrate them as a stereo vision system. A distortion model is also applied to enhance the accuracy of the system. The measurement results are presented in the end of the paper.
