A novel complex [cd2(phen)4(fca)2](clO4)2(H2O)2 (fca = dianion of 3-ferrocenyl- 2-crotonic acid, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray single-crystal structure analysis. It crystallizes in triclinic system, space group P?with a = 11.6297(5), b = 12.5165(5), c = 13.8986(6) ? a = 63.345(1), b = 87.747(1), g = 71.862(1), V = 1706.20(1) ?, Z = 1, Dc = 1.673 g/cm3, F(000) = 868 and m(MoKa) = 1.185 mm-1 (l = 0.71073 ). R = 0.0800 and wR = 0.1793 for 7653 observed reflections (I > 2s(I)). The structure consists of a dinuclear cation [cd2(phen)4(fca)2]2+, two discrete perchlorate anions and two water molecules. The cationic part of the complex shows a tetrametallic core in which two fca groups act as the (O, O) bridging ligands between two cadmium(Ⅱ) ions with a distorted octahedral environment. The cd…cd intradimer distance is 4.128 ?

Estimates of early atmosphere compositions from metamorphosed banded iron formations(BIFs)including the well-studied ≥3.7 BIFs of the Isua supracrustal belt(Greenland)are dependent on knowledge of primary versus secondary Fe-mineralogical *** new observations from locally well preserved domains,we interpret that a previously assumed primary redox indicator mineral,magnetite,is secondary after sedimentary Fe-clays(probably greenalite)±*** ~3.7 Ga Isua BIF,pre-tectonic nodules of quartz+Fe-rich amphibole±calcite reside in a finegrained(≤100 μm)quartz+magnetite *** interpret the Isua nodule amphibole as the metamorphosed equivalent of primary Fe-rich clays,armoured from diagenetic oxidative reactions by early silica ***,in another low strain lacunae,~3.76 Ga BIF layering is not solid magnetite but instead fine-grained magnetite+quartz *** magnetite+quartz aggregates are interpreted as the metamorphosed equivalent of Fe-clay-rich layers that were oxidised during diagenesis,because they were not armoured by early *** almost all Isua BIF exposures,this evidence has been destroyed by strong ductile *** Fe-clays likely formed by abiotic reactions between aqueous Fe^(2+)and *** clays along with silica±carbonate were deposited below an oceanic Fe-chemocline as the sedimentary precursors of *** of the clays on the sea floor may have been by anaerobic oxidation of Fe^(2+),a mechanism compatible with iron isotopic data previously published on these *** new determinations of the primary redoxsensitive Fe-mineralogy of BIF significantly revise estimates of early Earth atmospheric oxygen and cO_2 content,with formation of protolith Fe-rich clays and carbonates compatible with an anoxic Eoarchean atmosphere with much higher cO_2 levels than previously estimated for Isua and in the present-day atmosphere.

The habituation of cell cultures to cellulose biosynthesis inhibitors such as dichlobenil （DcB） represents a valu- able tool to improve our knowledge of the mechanisms involved in plant cell wall structural plasticity. Maize cell lines habituated to lethal concentrations of DcB were able to grow through the acquisition of a modified cell wall in which cellulose was partially replaced by a more extensive network of arabinoxylans. The aim of this work was to investigate the phenolic metabolism of non-habituated and DcB-habituated maize cell cultures. Maize cell cultures were fed [14c]cinnamate and the fate of the radioactivity in different intra-protoplasmic and wall-localized fractions throughout the culture cycle was analyzed by autoradiography and scintillation counting. Non-habituated and habituated cultures did not markedly differ in their ability to uptake exogenous [14c]cinnamic acid. However, interesting differences were found in the radiolabeling of low- and high-Mr metabolites. Habituated cultures displayed a higher number and amount of radiola-beled low-Mr compounds, which could act as reserves later used for polysaccharide feruloylation. DcB-habituated cultures were highly enriched in esterified [14c]dehydrodiferulates and larger coupling products. In conclusion, an extensive and early cross-linking of hydroxycinnamates was observed in DcB-habituated cultures, probably strengthening their cellulose-deficient walls.

AIM:To investigate possible differences in dendritic cells(Dc)within intestinal tissue of mice before and after induction of colitis. METHODS:Mucosal Dc derived from intestinal tissue,as well as from mesenteric lymph nodes and spleen,were analyzed by fluorescence activated cell sorting(FAcS) *** of these cells were analyzed for secretion of different pro-and anti-inflammatory cytokines. Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence were performed on cryosections of mucosal tissue derived from animals with colitis as well as from healthy mice. RESULTS:It was shown that Dc derived from healthy intestinal lamina propria(LP)represented an immature phenotype as characterized by low-level expression of costimulatory *** contrast to Dc from spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes(MLN)that secreted proinflammatory cytokines,LP-Dc produced high levels of the anti-inflammatory cytokine *** induction of mu-rine colitis in a cD4 + cD62L + transfer model or in chronic Dextran sulfate sodium-colitis,a marked increase of activated cD80 + Dc could be observed within the inflamed colonic ***,in contrast to splenic Dc,a significant population of Dc within MLN and colonic LP expressed the mucosal integrin cD103 which was lost during colitis. cONcLUSION:The constitutive secretion of antiinflammatory cytokines by immature Dc within the intestinal LP might regulate the homeostatic balance between mucosal immunity and ***103 + Dc could mediate this important function.

In the present study, polyvoltine germplasm stock of Andhra Pradesh State Sericulture Research and Development, Institute (APSSRDI) was evaluated for its performance based on quantitative and qualitative traits. Twenty-one oval and 10 peanut cocoon shaped lines were reared in different seasons of the year. Since the polyvoltines are non-diapausing, six generations were reared and evaluated for various economically important traits based on evaluation index and sub-ordinate function statistical methods. Ten top ranked lines obtained by using both the methods were identified as potential parental strains. Among oval lines, APM14, APM11, APM18, APMW9, and APM19, and among peanut lines APMD5, APMD1, APMD3, APMD9 and APMD8 were selected as base material. The identified high yielding lines will be used in various breeding programmes as initial parents for the synthesis of superior polyvoltine breeds/hybrids.
