The environmental protection of tropical marine and coastal areas faces different challenges due to the diversity of aspects related to these areas, which include natural, social and economical issues. Despite these challenges, efforts for the protection of these areas are urgent nowadays because of the dramatical increase of human related threats like habitat destruction and population growth. Malaga Bay (MB) is a tectonic estuarine system located in Panama Bight (central region of the Colombian Pacific coast), which due to its origin shows important environmental characteristics of few sites in the Tropical Eastern Pacific (TEP) match. For these reasons, the government of Colombia declared in 2010, the bay’s marine area as a Marine National Natural Park in order to preserve its unique estuarine marine biodiversity. Despite this measure, MB presents several conditions that make environmental protection a very difficult task. In this paper, we present the geographical context, biodiversity and natural resources, environmental threats, the complexity of economic and social context, and the institutional and legal context of MB, to exemplify the difficulty that the protection of marine areas face in the TEP.

Nearly 80%of the seafloor extension has not been covered by high-resolution bathymetry,impeding direct observation of seamounts.Nevertheless,lists of seamount location and height at a global scale have been produced using different techniques.In this work four of such databases(publicly available)are compared with each other to assess their differences.Results identify large differences among databases that could have exerted strong influences on models of seamount production and associated geodynamic processes.Despite those differences,it is shown that all databases allow the identification of seamount lines both along the present-day Mid Ocean Ridge(MOR)system and on intraplate settings.Notably,those seamount lines do not coincide with the so-called hotspot tracks that commonly were defined by selectively focusing attention on the larger seamounts.Examination of all the databases also shows that distinction based only on seamount size between seamounts produced at Mid-Ocean Ridge(MOR)environments from those associated with mantle-plum fed-hotspot activity has been overestimated.This,combined with the fact that most seamount lines defined by the available databases can be traced back to past locations of MOR indicates that most of the present-day intraplate linear arrays of seamounts,which include some large seamounts,were not produced by the action of underlying mantle anomalies envisaged in the form of mantle plumes.The evidence presented here calls for a reassessment of the form in which volcanic and tectonic activities are conceptually related to each other.

1 Introduction Sacubitril/valsartan(SV)is a first in class dual action molecule of the neprilysin(NEP)inhibitor prodrug sacubitril(AHU377)and the angiotensin II receptor(Ang-II)type 1 antagonist valsartanJ11 It is the first angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor(ARNI)whose pharmacodynamic effects are consistent with a simultaneous stimulation of the natriuretic peptides system(via NEP inhibition)and the blockade of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system(valsartan effect)that finally results in systemic vasodilation,increased diuresis and natriuresis,reduction of plasmatic volume and diminution of peripheral vascular resistance.

1 Introduction Heart failure (HF) is a global health problem with an estimated prevalence of over 5.8million in the USA and over 23million worldwide.It represents the most common cause of hospitalization in elderly patients (> 65 years) and its incidence has a growing trend mainly due to the aging of the population. Neurohumoral activation plays a major role in the pathophysiology. So in consequence, the cornerstone of its medical treatment is based on the inhibition of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) and the sympathetic nervous system, According to this, all patients with HF and reduced ejection fraction should be treated with an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) or an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) plus a beta blocker (BB) and if needed, a mineralocorticoid recep- tor antagonist (MRA).

通过吸附和生物浸出实验考察利用嗜酸热古菌Acidianus copahuensis从Hualian矿中回收锌。经过在连四硫酸盐表面预处理的菌种具有比经其他能量供给剂预处理的菌种更强的矿物吸附能力,且此吸附能力可由所产生的体外聚合物调节。当加入连四硫酸盐时,用A.copahuensis生物浸取Hualian矿中的锌,其浸出率达100%。同时添加酵母和连四硫酸盐不仅能保持较高的锌浸出率,而且能加快浸出速率。添加连四硫酸盐后,培养基中锌的溶解动力学受化学反应控制;而在未添加连四硫酸盐培养基中,锌的溶解动力学受经过黄钾铁矾反应层的扩散控制。

Spent mushroom substrate(SMS)is an abundant residue generated by the mushroom industry,which is mostly discarded.In this study,the SMS of four cultivated mushrooms were evaluated as potential sources of ligninolytic enzymes.Pleurotus ostreatus,P.eryngii,P.djamor and Ganoderma lucidum were cultivated in two different substrates to determine growth,mushroom yields and ligninolytic activity of laccase(Lac)and manganese peroxidase(MnP).Maximum activities in the SMS were 3.731 U/g Lac and 0.191 U/g MnP,both for P.eryngii.Colonized mushroom substrates were also analyzed,and higher activities were found in almost all samples.A correlation test between mushroom yields and ligninolytic activities of each culture was made,and we found that high enzymatic activity in the substrate did not result in high mushroom productivity or vice versa.The SMS was a good source of ligninolytic enzymes.Enzymatic activity depended on the mushroom species and its affinity to the substrate,and it was not influenced by the mushroom yields.Production of mushrooms in diverse lignocellulosic substrates is gaining interest,and ob-taining ligninolytic enzymes from residual SMS is an excellent alternative in the circular economy concept.

This study investigated the adsorption of Hg（Ⅱ） on Macrocystis pyrifera and Undaria pinnatifida in monometallic system in the presence of Zn（II）,Cd（Ⅱ） and Ni（II）.The two biosorbents reached the same maximum sorption capacity （q m = 0.8 mmol/g） for mercury.U.pinnatifida showed a greater affinity （given by the coefficient b of the Langmuir equation） for mercury compared to M.pyrifera （4.4 versus 2.7 L/mmol）.Mercury uptake was significantly reduced （by more than 50%） in the presence of competitor heavy metals such as Zn（II）,Cd（II） and Ni（Ⅱ）.Samples analysis using an environmental scanning electron microscopy equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis showed that mercury was heterogeneously adsorbed on the surface of both biomaterials,while the other heavy metals were homogeneous distributed.The analysis of biosorbents by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry indicated that Hg（Ⅱ） binding occurred on S=O （sulfonate） and N-H （amine） functional groups.

Financial Constraints and Multilevel Perspective： The Case of the Italian Manufacturing Enterprises

Following a multi-level perspective (MLP), a sustainability transition is the consequence of destabilization pressures from the landscape level that are exerted towards the current unsustainable regime contributing thus to the emergence of niche-level eco-innovations (EI). However, the existence of financial barriers to eco-innovative companies may hinder the development and diffusion of EIs at regime level, jeopardising the creation of windows of opportunity that are necessary for niche-level innovations to succeed. In this framework, the present paper investigates to what extent financial constraints are hampering the eco-innovative investments at regime level, by employing an ad hoc designed survey addressed to a sample of Italian manufacturing enterprises. Results reveal the existence of significant financial barriers to eco-innovative companies which are hindering the development and adoption of incremental technological EIs and organizational EIs at regime level, delaying the transition towards a more sustainable regime. Moreover, findings suggest that environmental reputation of companies can positively contribute to reducing asymmetric information in eco-innovative investments, relieving thus the financial constraints faced by eco-innovative enterprises.
