1 Introduction Sacubitril/valsartan(SV)is a first in class dual action molecule of the neprilysin(NEP)inhibitor prodrug sacubitril(AHU377)and the angiotensin II receptor(Ang-II)type 1 antagonist valsartanJ11 It is the first angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor(ARNI)whose pharmacodynamic effects are consistent with a simultaneous stimulation of the natriuretic peptides system(via NEP inhibition)and the blockade of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system(valsartan effect)that finally results in systemic vasodilation,increased diuresis and natriuresis,reduction of plasmatic volume and diminution of peripheral vascular resistance.

Seamount chains and hotspot tracks:Superficially similar,deeply different

Nearly 80%of the seafloor extension has not been covered by high-resolution bathymetry,impeding direct observation of ***,lists of seamount location and height at a global scale have been produced using different *** this work four of such databases(publicly available)are compared with each other to assess their *** identify large differences among databases that could have exerted strong influences on models of seamount production and associated geodynamic *** those differences,it is shown that all databases allow the identification of seamount lines both along the present-day Mid Ocean Ridge(MOR)system and on intraplate ***,those seamount lines do not coincide with the so-called hotspot tracks that commonly were defined by selectively focusing attention on the larger *** of all the databases also shows that distinction based only on seamount size between seamounts produced at Mid-Ocean Ridge(MOR)environments from those associated with mantle-plum fed-hotspot activity has been ***,combined with the fact that most seamount lines defined by the available databases can be traced back to past locations of MOR indicates that most of the present-day intraplate linear arrays of seamounts,which include some large seamounts,were not produced by the action of underlying mantle anomalies envisaged in the form of mantle *** evidence presented here calls for a reassessment of the form in which volcanic and tectonic activities are conceptually related to each other.

Biosorption of mercury by Macrocystis pyrifera and Undaria pinnatifida:Influence of zinc,cadmium and nickel

This study investigated the adsorption of Hg（Ⅱ） on Macrocystis pyrifera and Undaria pinnatifida in monometallic system in the presence of Zn（II）,Cd（Ⅱ） and Ni（II）.The two biosorbents reached the same maximum sorption capacity （q m = 0.8 mmol/g） for *** showed a greater affinity （given by the coefficient b of the Langmuir equation） for mercury compared to *** （4.4 versus 2.7 L/mmol）.Mercury uptake was significantly reduced （by more than 50%） in the presence of competitor heavy metals such as Zn（II）,Cd（II） and Ni（Ⅱ）.Samples analysis using an environmental scanning electron microscopy equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis showed that mercury was heterogeneously adsorbed on the surface of both biomaterials,while the other heavy metals were homogeneous *** analysis of biosorbents by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry indicated that Hg（Ⅱ） binding occurred on S=O （sulfonate） and N-H （amine） functional groups.

Changing the treatment of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction： clinical use of sacubitril-valsartan combination

Despite significant therapeutic advances, patients with chronic heart failure （HF） remain at high risk of morbidity and mortality. Sacubitill valsartan （previously known as LCZ696） is a new oral agent approved for the treatment of symptomatic chronic heart failure in adults with reduced ejection fraction. It is described as the fast in class angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitor （ARNI） since it incorporates the neprilysin inhibitor, sacubitril and the angiotensin Ⅱ receptor antagonist, valsartan. Neprilysin is an endopeptidase that breaks down several vasoactive peptides including natriuretic peptides （NPs）, bradykinin, endothelin and angiotensin II （Ang-II）. Therefore, a natural consequence of its inhibition is an increase of plasmatic levels of both, NPs and Ang-Ⅱ （with opposite biological actions）. So, a combined inhibition of these both systems （Sacubitril / valsartan） may enhance the benefits of NPs effects in HF （natriuresis, diuresis, etc） while Ang-Ⅱ receptor is inhibited （reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone release）. In a large clinical trial （PARADIGM-HF with 8442 patients）, this new agent was found to significantly reduce cardiovascular and all cause mortality as well as hospitalizations due to HF （compared to enalapril）. This manuscript reviews clinical evidence for sacubitril valsartan, dosing and cautions, future directions and its considered place in the therapy of HF with reduced ejection fraction.

1 Introduction Heart failure （HF） is a global health problem with an estimated prevalence of over 5.8 million in the USA and over 23 million *** represents the most common cause of hospitalization in elderly patients （〉 65 years） and its incidence has a growing trend mainly due to the aging of the population. Neurohumoral activation plays a major role in the pathophysiology. So in consequence, the cornerstone of its medical treatment is based on the inhibition of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system （RAAS） and the sympathetic nervous system, According to this, all patients with HF and reduced ejection fraction should be treated with an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor （ACEI） or an angiotensin receptor blocker （ARB） plus a beta blocker （BB） and if needed, a mineralocorticoid recep- tor antagonist （MRA）.

Evaluation of ligninolytic activity in spent mushroom substrate from four cultivated mushrooms

Spent mushroom substrate(SMS)is an abundant residue generated by the mushroom industry,which is mostly *** this study,the SMS of four cultivated mushrooms were evaluated as potential sources of ligninolytic *** ostreatus,***,*** and Ganoderma lucidum were cultivated in two different substrates to determine growth,mushroom yields and ligninolytic activity of laccase(Lac)and manganese peroxidase(MnP).Maximum activities in the SMS were 3.731 U/g Lac and 0.191 U/g MnP,both for *** mushroom substrates were also analyzed,and higher activities were found in almost all samples.A correlation test between mushroom yields and ligninolytic activities of each culture was made,and we found that high enzymatic activity in the substrate did not result in high mushroom productivity or vice *** SMS was a good source of ligninolytic *** activity depended on the mushroom species and its affinity to the substrate,and it was not influenced by the mushroom *** of mushrooms in diverse lignocellulosic substrates is gaining interest,and ob-taining ligninolytic enzymes from residual SMS is an excellent alternative in the circular economy concept.

Improving zinc recovery by thermoacidophilic archaeon Acidianus copahuensis using tetrathionate

The attachment and bioleaching experiments were conducted to evaluate the zinc recovery from Hualilan ore by thethermoacidophilic archaeon Acidianus copahuensis. Cells of this species pregrown on tetrathionate showed higher capability ofattachment to the ore than cells pregrown on other energy sources and such attachment seemed to be mediated by the product ofextracellular polymeric substances. A. copahuensis achieved a successful bioleaching of the ore reaching 100% of zinc recoverywhen tetrathionate was added. Simultaneous addition of yeast extract and tetrathionate maintained the zinc extraction at higher *** dissolution kinetics was controlled by chemical reaction in cultures with the external addition of tetrathionate but by thediffusion through a product layer of jarosite in the other cultures.

Financial Constraints and Multilevel Perspective： The Case of the Italian Manufacturing Enterprises

Following a multi-level perspective （MLP）, a sustainability transition is the consequence of destabilization pressures from the landscape level that are exerted towards the current unsustainable regime contributing thus to the emergence of niche-level eco-innovations （El）. However, the existence of financial barriers to eco-innovative companies may hinder the development and diffusion of EIs at regime level, jeopardising the creation of windows of opportunity that are necessary for niche-level innovations to succeed. In this framework, the present paper investigates to what extent financial constraints are hampering the eco-innovative investments at regime level, by employing an ad hoc designed survey addressed to a sample of Italian manufacturing enterprises. Results reveal the existence of significant financial barriers to eco-innovative companies which are hindering the development and adoption of incremental technological EIs and organizational EIs at regime level, delaying the transition towards a more sustainable regime. Moreover, findings suggest that environmental reputation of companies can positively contribute to reducing asymmetric information in eco-innovative investments, relieving thus the financial constraints faced by eco-innovative enterprises.
