Exhaust gas recirculation(EGR)is one of the main techniques to enable the use of oxyfuel combustion for carbon capture and storage(CCs).However,the use of recirculated streams with elevated carbon dioxide poses different ***,more research is required about the cumulative effects on the desirable outcomes of the combustion processes such as thermal efficiency,reduced emissions and system operability,when fuels with high CO_(2) concentration for CCs exhaust gas recirculation or biogas are ***,this study evaluates the use of various CO_(2) enriched methane blends and their response towards the formation of a great variety of structures that appear in swirling flows,which are the main mechanism for combustion control in current gas turbines *** study uses 100 kW acoustically excited swirl-stabilised burner to investigate the flow field response to the resultant effects of the variation in the swirl strength,excitation under isothermal condition and the corresponding effects during combustion with different fuels at various CO_(2) *** show changes in size and location of flow structures as a result of the changes in the mean and turbulent velocities of the flow field,consequence of the imposition of different swirl and forcing *** thermal efficiency is also observed in the system when using high swirl and forcing while the blend of CO_(2) with methane balanced the heat release fluctuation with a corresponding reduction in the acoustic amplitudes of the combustion response,suggesting that certain CO_(2) concentrations in the fuel can provide more stable *** between 10%to 15%CO_(2) volume show great promise for stability improvement,with the potential of using these findings in larger units that employ CCs technologies.

This letter presents an autofocus （AF） method to position a high-magnification microscope lens that automatically captures hundreds of images from a single moving slide. These images are taken by a mobile clinic unit in a rural location, and are later automatically processed and revised by a remote specialist. This process requires high focus precision to enable image processing techniques to achieve proper results. Low focusing times are also required for the system to be operative. We propose a novel method that combines two focus measures with an adapted searching scheme to cope with both constraints.

surgical management of hepato-pancreatic metastasis from renal cell carcinoma

AIM To investigate the outcomes of liver and pancreatic resections for renal cell carcinoma(RCC) metastatic disease. METHODs This is a retrospective, single centre review of liver and/or pancreatic resections for RCC metastases between January 2003 and December 2015. Descriptive statistical analysis and survival analysis using the Kaplan-Meier estimation were *** Thirteen patients h ad 7 pancreatic and 7 liver resections, with median follow-up 33 mo(range: 3-98). Postoperative complications were recorded in 5 cases, with no postoperative mortality. Three patients after hepatic and 5 after pancreatic resection developed recurrent disease. Median overall survival was 94 mo(range: 23-94) after liver and 98 mo(range: 3-98) after pancreatic resection. Disease-free survival was 10 mo(range 3-55) after liver and 28 mo(range 3-53) after pancreatic resection. CONCLUsION Our study shows that despite the high incidence of recurrence, long term survival can be achieved with resection of hepatic and pancreatic RCC metastases in selected cases and should be considered as a management option in patients with oligometastatic disease.

The starting point of this research is the urban model promoted by the United Nations through the sustainable Development Goals(sDGs).The importance of public spaces is especially highlighted in Goal 11.7:“provide universal access to safe,inclusive,and accessible,green,and public spaces.”The quality of public spaces can be properly assessed by reconsidering the quality indicators and investigating their development potential,which is the main focus of our *** study is based on a theoretical and methodological reflection on the quality of public space,considering the contributions of some contemporary urban traditions and a few recent *** this perspective,a variety of public space projects developed in the European sphere have been selected and *** quality parameters identified in this initial analysis were then applied to the analysis of nine representative case studies in three spanish cities(Madrid,Barcelona,and Zaragoza).The main goal is to propose a methodology that helps to evaluate the quality of those public spaces and determine its relationship with the safety,accessibility,and inclusiveness conditions they offer.

Land cover change and carbon stores in a tropical montane cloud forest in the sierra Madre Oriental,Mexico

Tropical montane cloud forest is one of the ecosystems with the highest biomass worldwide, representing an important carbon store. Globally its deforestation index is –1.1%, but in Mexico it is higher than –3%. Carbon estimates are scarce globally, particularly in Mexico. The objective of this study was to simulate future land-cover scenarios for the sierra Madre Oriental in Mexico, by analyzing past forest cover changes. Another objective was to estimate stored carbon in the two study areas. These objectives involve the generation of information that could be useful inputs to anti-deforestation public policy such as the REDD+ strategy. Remote sensing was used to measure land cover change and estimate carbon stocks. satellite images from 2015, 2000 and 1986 were used, and Dinamica EGO freeware generatedmodels of future projections. Between 1986 and 2015, 5171 ha of forest were converted to pasture. The annual deforestation rates were –1.5% for Tlanchinol and –1.3% for the san Bartolo Tutotepec sites. Distance to roads and marginalization were highly correlated with deforestation. By 2030, an estimated 3608 ha of forest in these sites will have been converted to pasture. stored carbon was estimated at 16.35 Mg C ha-1 for the Tlanchinol site and 12.7 Mg C ha-1 for the san Bartolo site. In the sierra Madre Oriental deforestation due to land cover change(–1.4%) is higher than levels reported worldwide. Besides having high values of stored carbon(14.5 Mg C ha-1), these forests have high biodiversity. The models' outputs show that the deforestation process will continue if action is not taken to avoid the expansion of livestock pasturing. This can be done by paying incentives for forest conservation to the owners of the land. The results suggest that REDD+ is currently the most viable strategy for reducing deforestation rates in tropical montane cloud forests in sierra Madre Oriental.

Intravitreal dexamethasone implant in naive and previously treated patients with diabetic macular edema:a retrospective study

AIM:To assess the effect of the intravitreal dexamethasone implant(DEX)Ozurdex on the best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and central retinal thickness(CRT)in patients with diabetic macular edema(DME).METHODs:Totally 43 eyes(24 naive and 19 previously treated)were included in the *** and single-center study involved patients with a clinical diagnosed of DME,who received treatment with DEX implant and had a follow-up of at least 12 *** endpoints included changes in BCVA and ***:At month 12,mean improvement in BCVA from baseline was 20.4±20.8 letters and 6.8±6.9 letters in naive and previously treated patients,respectively(P=0.0132).The naive patients achieved the BCVA improvement significantly faster(2.4±1.5 mo)than the previously treated ones(3.5±2.4 mo,P=0.0298;MannWhitney test).The proportion of eyes gaining≥15 letters was 54.2%and 21.1%in the non-previously treated and previously treated groups,respectively(P=0.0293).CRT was significantly reduced from 484.0±119.8 and 487.5±159.9μm to 272.0±39.2 and 233.5±65.7μm in the naive and previously treated patients,respectively;Psence of subretinal fluid was significantly associated with the proportion of patients achieving a BCVA improvement≥5 letters[HR(95%CI),1.23(1.04 to 1.45),P=0.0145];≥10 letters[HR(95%CI),1.75(1.10 to 2.77),P=0.0182];and≥15 letters[HR(95%CI),2.04(1.03 to 4.02),P=0.0407].Naive patients received less DEX implants throughout the study than the previously treated ones(1.8±0.6 vs 2.3±0.6,P=0.0172,respectively).Totally 9 patients(20.9%)have developed ocular hypertension,which was successfully controlled with topical hypotensive *** the 23 phakic eyes at baseline,5 eyes(21.7%)either had new onset lens opacity or progression of an existing opacity during the study *** of them(2 in the naive group and 2 in the previously treated one)required cataract surgery at months 4,6,6,and 6,***:The results obtained in this

Determination of functional fitness age in women aged 50 and older

Background: The construction of useful and attainable indicators of fitness assessment deserves special attention in clinical practice. We aimed to construct an indicator of the functional fitness age(FFA) of women aged 50 and older by an equation using fitness outcomes and its correlation with chronological age(CA) and to analyze the external validity of our results by comparing our sample to ***: Participants(n=459, age: 70.3 ± 7.9 years, mean ± sD) were evaluated using the senior Fitness Test battery. We applied a multiple regression and a subsequent Holt's exponential smoothing to analyze the ***: We obtained a statistically significant expression of F(6, 452) = 328.384; p s of the equation explain81% of variability(R_(corrected)~2 = 0.813). The development of plant-derived products to control Bemisia tabaci Genn.(Hemiptera:Aleyrodidae)is an urgent need for production of horticultural *** extracts and essential oils of several species of the genus Eugenia(Myrtaceae)have shown insecticidal *** southern Mexico,leaf extracts from Eugenia winzerlingii showed nematicidal effect but its insecticidal properties have not been ***,the objective of this study was to evaluate the insecticidal effect of aqueous and organic extracts from *** leaves on *** egg,nymph and adult stages,and else to explore its nursery ***,extracts of this species were obtained by maceration with different polarity *** were carried out on Capsicum chinense *** assays showed that aqueous and total crude ethanol(TCE)extracts necrosed the eggs(LC50=0.21%w/v and 4.68 mg/mL,respectively),whereas hexane,ethyl acetate(ETA),residual ethanol and TCE extracts affected the nymphs(LC50=0.25-4.85 mg/mL).In adults,oviposition inhibition by free choice assay indicated that TCE and ETA extracts had major activity(EC50=14.62 and 27.86μg/cm2,respectively).On other hand,the sexual and vegetative propagation of *** showed that this species can be easily cultivated by *** conclusion,extracts of *** leaves are highly effective in controlling *** extract,in particular,was toxic to three stages of *** plant could be a potential alternative to develop a novel botanical insecticide to manage this destructive pest.

Bile acids (BAs) have a long established role in fat digestion in the intestine by acting as tensioactives, due to their amphipatic characteristics. BAs are reabsorbed very efficiently by the intestinal epithelium and recycled back to the liver via transport mechanisms that have been largely elucidated. The transport and synthesis of BAs are tightly regulated in part by specific plasma membrane receptors and nuclear receptors. In addition to their primary effect, BAs have been claimed to play a role in gastrointestinal cancer, intestinal inflammation and intestinal ionic transport. BAs are not equivalent in any of these biological activities, and structural requirements have been generally identified. In particular, some BAs may be useful for cancer chemoprevention and perhaps in inflammatory bowel disease, although further research is necessary in this field. This review covers the most recent developments in these aspects of BA intestinal biology.
