Binary oxide catalysts with various weight percentage V2O5 loadings were prepared by solid‐state dispersion and the nanocomposites were modified with surfactants. The catalysts were analyzed using X‐ray diffraction, diffuse‐reflectance spectroscopy, Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and N2 adsorption‐desorption. The photocatalytic activities of the catalysts were evaluated in the degradation of 2,4‐dichlorophenol under ultraviolet irradiation. The photocatalytic activity of 50 wt%V2O5‐TiO2 （50V2O5‐TiO2） was higher than those of pure V2O5, TiO2, and P25. Interactions between V2O5 and TiO2 affected the photocatalytic efficiencies of the binary oxide catalysts. Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide （CTAB） and hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide （HTAB） significantly enhanced the efficiency of the 50V2O5‐TiO2 catalyst. The highest per‐centage of 2,4‐dichlorophenol degradation （100%） and highest reaction rate （2.22 mg/（L·min）） were obtained in 30 min with the （50V2O5‐TiO2）‐CTAB catalyst. It is concluded that the addition of a surfactant to the binary oxide significantly enhanced the photocatalytic activity by modifying the optical and electronic properties of V2O5 and TiO2.

Resistivity and Hall effect measurements on n-type undoped Ga-rich InxGa1-xN （0.06 ≤ x ≤ 0.135） alloys grown by metal-organic vapour phase epitaxy （MOVPE） technique are carried out as a function of temperature （15-350 K）. Within the experimental error, the electron concentration in Inx Ga1-x N alloys is independent of temperature while the resistivity decreases as the temperature increases. Therefore, Inx Ga1-xN （0.06 ≤ x ≤0.135） alloys are considered in the metallic phase near the Mort transition. It has been shown that the temperaturedependent metallic conductivity can be well explained by the Mort model that takes into account electron-electron interactions and weak localization effects.

Rapid development of pharmaceuticals outpaces the efforts to regulate and monitor their trace concentrations in the *** emerging issue can only be solved through field studies,solid fate and transport models,and adequate risk assessment of the concerned *** approach requires the availability of toxicological information about the contaminants along with an understanding of their full potential in different media of the *** review paper focuses on commonly used seven pharmaceutical families across the globe:antacids,antibiotics,antidepressants,antiepileptics,beta blockers,lipid lowering drugs,and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory *** each family,pharmaceuticals which are widely prescribed,studied,and frequently detected in environment were *** concentration levels in the environment,updated physicochemical properties,main natural removal mechanism,and ecological risk assessment towards the receptors of those pharmaceuticals in aquatic and terrestrial systems were *** following results were observed in the literature:1)removal of the pharmaceuticals from wastewater treatment plants is reduced when the dissolved organic matter present;2)many studies have cited older physicochemical properties of the concerned pharmaceuticals assuming relative conditions in their studies which can affect the accuracy of a model;3)the number of studies are very limited for fate and transport in the soil;and 4)there is lack of cumulative risk assessment of mixed pharmaceutical ***,this review will provide modeler with updated physiochemical properties;it will guide researchers to focus on removal of those contaminants at different lifecycle stages;and it will provide guidance to policy makers to develop effective policies and regulations.

AIM: To compare the outcomes achieved with external dacryocystorhinostomy(EX-DCR) and transcanalicular dacryocystorhinostomy(TC-DCR) using a multidiode laser in patients with bilateral nasolacrimal duct obstruction(NLDO).METHODS: This prospective study was conducted on38 eyes of 19 patients with bilateral NLDO. Simultaneous bilateral surgery was performed on all patients. TC-DCR(Group 1) with a diode laser was used in the right eye,and EX-DCR(Group 2) was used in the left eye. All patients were placed under general anesthesia. Routine follow-ups were scheduled at 1wk; 1, 3, 6 and 12 mo postoperative intervals. Objective(lacrimal system irrigation) and subjective [tearing, irritation, pain,discharge and visual analogue scale(VAS) score]outcomes were ***: The overall objective success rate at 12 mo was 73.7%(14/19) in Group 1 and 89.5 %(17/19) in Group2. This difference was statistically significant. There were no significant between-group differences in the subjective results, such as tearing, pain and *** the discharge scores were found to be significantly higher in Group 1 compared to Group 2 at the 1y followup. The average VAS score was 6.8 in Group 1 and 8.7 in Group 2, with no statistically significant ***: Although TC-DCR allows surgeons to perform a minimally invasive and safe procedure, EX-DCR offers better objective and subjective outcomes than TC-DCR.

Retinal vessel diameters and their correlation with retinal nerve fiber layer thickness in patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome

AIM: To compare retinal artery-vein diameters(RAVDs)of patients with pseudoexfoliation(PSX) syndrome with healthy controls and investigate the correlations between retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL) thickness parameters and ***: Seventeen eyes with PSX and 17 eyes of age-matched controls were included in the study. All participants underwent routine ophthalmological examination, Humphrey visual field and RNFL examination by using Stratus OCT. Retinal images were obtained by using a retinal camera(Topcon 501X).RAVDs were measured from inferior nasal, inferior temporal, superior nasal and superior temporal arcuates by using IMAGEnet software. Superior, inferior, nasal,temporal and average RNFL thicknesses were *** and RNFL parameters in groups and correlations were analyzed by Mann-Whitney U and Spearmann correlation ***: Only inferior quadrant and average RNFL thickness were detected thinner in the PSX group compared with control group(P =0.009, P =0.038,respectively). No statistically significant difference regarding RAVDs was found between two ***: RAVDs seems to be comparable in the PSX and control group. RNFL is thinner in the inferior quadrant in the PSX group. RNFL thickness and RAVDs show significant correlations in both groups. This correlation doesn’t seem to be specific to PSX.

Objective:To describe clinical and epidemiological characteristics,antimicrobial susceptibility and mortality-associated factors of healthcare-associated infections(HCAIs)caused by Staphylococcus(S.)aureus in ***:We conducted a retrospective,single-centre study of pediatric HCAIs caused by *** from a tertiary care hospital in Turkey between February 2014 and December *** clinical and epidemiological characteristics and antimicrobial susceptibility of the methicillin-susceptible and methicillin-resistant ***(MSSA and MRSA)isolates was ***:A total of 310 pediatric patients were ***,225(72.6%)isolates were MSSA and 85(27.4%)were *** *** isolates were susceptible to teicoplanin,vancomycin,linezolid,tigecycline,mupirocin,and *** resistance rates were high(89.0%),while fosfomycin,gentamicin,and clindamycin resistance rates were low(1.3%,1.0%,and 2.3%,respectively).Except susceptibility to fosfomycin,which was significantly lower in 2014 compared to 2018 and 2019,no significant difference was found in the antimicrobial susceptibility of *** isolates between the *** characteristics and mortality rate were similar comparing MRSA and MSSA causing *** mortality rate of HCAIs caused by *** was 6.5%(20 patients).Malignancy was an independent risk factor associated with mortality in the multivariate analysis(OR 5.446,95%CI 1.573-18.849).Conclusions:Our findings demonstrate that MSSA remained the most causative agent of HCAIs caused by *** mortality rate was 6.5%,the antibiotic resistance rate was quite high for penicillin and diagnosis of malignancy was the main risk factor for increasing mortality in *** findings could help improve the management of HCAIs caused by *** in children.

The inhibitory sources in the thalamic nuclei are local interneurons and neurons of the thalamic reticular nucleus. Studies of models of absence epilepsy have shown that the seizures are associated with an excess of inhibitory neurotransmission in the thalamus. In the present study, we used light- microscopic gamma-aminobutyric acid （GABA） immunocytochemistry to quantify the interneurons in the lateral geniculate （LGN）, ventral posteromedial （VPM）, and ventral posterolateral （VPL） thalamic nuclei, and compared the values from normal Wistar rats and genetic absence epilepsy rats from Strasbourg （GAERS）. We found that in both Wistar rats and GAERS, the proportion of interneurons was significantly higher in the LGN than in the VPM and VPL. In the LGN of Wistar rats, 16.4% of the neurons were interneurons and in the GAERS, the value was 15.1%. In the VPM, the proportion of interneurons was 4.2% in Wistar and 14.9% in GAERS; in the VPL the values were 3.7% for Wistar and 11.1% for the GAERS. There was no significant difference between Wistar rats and the GAERS regarding the counts of interneurons in the LGN, whereas the VPM and VPL showed significantly higher counts in GAERS. Comparison of the mean areas of both relay cells and interneuronal profiles showed no significant differences between Wistar rats and GAERS. These findings show that in the VPL and the VPM there are relatively more GABAergic interneurons in GAERS than in Wistar rats. This may represent a compensatory response of the thalamocortical circuitry to the absence seizures or may be related to the production of absence seizures.

It is known that Jφrn Utzon(1918-2008),the principal architect for the Sydney Opera House project(1957-66),had a lifetime obsession for Chinese art and ***,previous studies did not explore the relationship between Utzon and his venerated Chinese writer Lin Yutang(1895-1976).How Utzon represented the ideas and ideals he received from Lin Yutang's conceptualization of Chinese art and architecture in My Country and My People(1935)has not been systematically *** this end,this article examines the role of Lin Yutang's work in Utzon's architectural career generally and the architect's Sydney Opera House design in *** argues that My Country and My People nurtured young Utzon's own architectural philosophy,as reflected in his early manifestoes and design ***,Lin Yutang's Chinese aesthetics encapsulated in calligraphy,painting and architecture helped Utzon to initiate,articulate and further communicate the design principles of his Sydney Opera House,as well as several other important architectural works before and *** Utzon never fully realized his Opera House due to forced resignation in 1966,the inspiration from Lin Yutang vividly remains in Utzon's yet to be finished masterpiece.

A Passive Stewart Platform Based Joystick to Control Spatially Moving Objects

Most of the spatially moving vehicles and game controllers use a 2-3 DOF （degrees of freedom） joystick to manipulate objects position. However, most of the spatially moving vehicles have more than 3 degrees of freedom, such as helicopters, quadrotors, and planes. Therefore, additional equipment like pedals or buttons is required during the manipulation. In this study, a passive Stewart platform based 6 degrees of freedom joystick was developed to control spatially moving objects. The Stewart platform mechanism is a 6-degrees of freedom parallel mechanism, which has been used for simulators. The main challenge of using a parallel mechanism to manipulate objects is the computational burden of its forward kinematics. Therefore, an artificial neural network was used for the forward kinematic solution of the Stewart platform mechanism to obtain the fastest response. Linear potentiometers were used for the Stewart platform legs. A mathematical model of a quadrotor was used to test the capability of the joystick. The developed spatial joystick successfully manipulated the virtual quadrotor model.

Contact lens impact on quality of life in keratoconus patients: rigid gas permeable versus soft siliconehydrogel keratoconus lenses

AIMTo determine the impact of rigid gas permeable (RGP) and silicone-hydrogel keratoconus lenses on the quality of life (QoL) in keratoconus (KCN) patients using the self-reported results from the Contact Lens Impact on Quality of Life (CLIQ) *** January 2013 to April 2013, 27 consecutive KCN patients who wore RGP contact lenses (conflexair100 UV KE Zeiss-Wöhlk) or soft silicone-hydrogel contact lenses (SHCLs) for KCN (KeraSoft IC- Bausch&Lomb or Hydrocone Toris K-Swiss lens) completed the CLIQ *** mean age of 27 patients was 29.6±8.0y. Fifteen patients were RGP user. The groups were comparable with respect to the mean patient age, sex, and mean K values (P=0.1, P=0.8 and P=0.1, respectively). The mean CLIQperson measure was 42.8±5.5 in RGP group and 39.6±5.5 in SHCLs for KCN group (P=0.06). CLIQperson measure was positively correlated with steep K value (r=0.301, P=0.04). When eyes were stratified by visual acuity with contact lenses, the mean CLIQperson measure was 42.01±5.6 in eyes with a visual acuity of 20/20-20/25 (n=44) and 38.4±5.26 in eyes with a visual acuity of 20/32 or less (n=10; P=0.097).CONCLUSIONRGP lenses and SHCLs for KCN have similar impact on QoL.
