Objective:To observe and assess the compliance to sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine(SP) one and a half years after phasing out chloroquine(CQ) in Mkuranga District,Coast region,Tanzania. Methods:A randomly controlled baseline community study was conducted in rural areas of Mkuranga district,***-structured questionnaire consisted of open-and closed -ended questions including home stocking,home use,last fever episodes and treatment of underfives with malaria using CQ or ***:The prevalence of fever or reported fever rate during the last 48 hours by their mothers or guardians was high(70%).Of all 117 blood samples,only 8 children after drug analysis were found to have CQ and 13 had SP concentrations within their blood *** of these blood drug levels were above therapeutic ranges. Conclusions:Community interventions are urgently needed in rural communities and should specifically target households nucleus on early malaria fever recognition and provision of recommended antimalarials for the sick underfive ***,sadly,there was an increase in underweight and undernourishment in the study areas,probably because of malaria in the area and poverty which are associated with poor nutrition in these youngsters.

The Chicago Area Waterway System(CAWS)is a 133.9 km branching network of navigable waterways controlled by hydraulic structures,in which the majority of the flow is treated wastewater effluent and there are periods of substantial combined sewer *** CAWS comprises a network of effluent dominated *** stringent dissolved oxygen(DO)standards and a reduced flow augmentation allowance have been recently applied to the ***,a carefully calibrated and verified one-dimensional flow and water quality model was applied to the CAWS to determine emission-based real-time control guidelines for the operation of flow augmentation and aeration *** goal of these guidelines was to attain DO standards at least 95%of the ***“optimal”guidelines were tested for representative normal,dry,and wet *** finally proposed guidelines were found in the simulations to attain the 95%target for nearly all locations in the CAWS for the three test *** developed operational guidelines have been applied since 2018 and have shown improved attainment of the DO standards throughout the CAWS while at the same time achieving similar energy use at the aeration stations on the Calumet River system,greatly lowered energy use on the Chicago River system,and greatly lowered discretionary diversion from Lake Michigan,meeting the recently enacted lower amount of allowed annual discretionary *** case study indicates that emission-based real-time control developed from a well calibrated model holds potential to help many receiving water bodies achieve high attainment of water quality standards.

A rapid,sensitive,and cost-effective analyticalmethod was developed for the analysis of selected semivolatileorganic compounds in *** method used anautomated online solid-phase extraction technique coupledwith programmed-temperature vaporization large-volumeinjection gas chromatography/mass *** samples were extracted by using a fully automatedmobile rack system based on x-y-z robotic techniquesusing syringes and disposable 96-well extraction *** method was validated for the analysis of 30 semivolatileanalytes in drinking water,groundwater,andsurface *** a sample volume of 10 mL,the linearcalibrations ranged from 0.01 or 0.05 to 2.5μg·L^(-1),and themethod detection limits were less than 0.1μg·L^(-1).For thereagent water samples fortified at 1.0μg·L^(-1)and2.0μg·L^(-1),the obtained mean absolute recoveries were70%-130%with relative standard deviations of less than20%for most *** the drinking water,groundwater,and surface water samples fortified at 1.0μg·L^(-1),theobtained mean absolute recoveries were 50%-130%withrelative standard deviations of less than 20%for *** new method demonstrated three advantages:1)no manipulation except the fortification of surrogatestandards prior to extraction;2)significant cost reductionassociated with sample collection,shipping,storage,andpreparation;and 3)reduced exposure to hazardous solventsand other *** a result,this new automatedmethod can be used as an effective approach for screeningand/or compliance monitoring of selected semi-volatileorganic compounds in water.

Thirteen-year growth response of ponderosa pine plantations to dominant shrubs(Arctostaphylos and Ceanothus)

Thirteen-year growth response of ponderosa pine to various manipulations of understory vegetation was studied to determine if a threshold of understory cover can be established for plantation productivity and whether nitrogen-fixing Ceanothus species benefit plantation growth compared to non N-fixing Arctostaphylos species,given their ability to improve site *** showed that completely controlling competing vegetation increased plantation growth,as was universally expected,but the effects of partial shrub control on plantation performance was *** did not find a benefit of nitrogenfixing shrubs on tree growth,as young plantation growth was slightly better in the non N-fixing plots compared to the N-fixing plots due to differences in shrub *** understory cover threshold for tree growth was not *** to the overriding effect of shrub competition,controlling herbaceous species had little effect on plantation growth even though it benefited tree seedling survival.A long-term value of N-fixing shrubs at these sites,if there is one,must be balanced by successful plantation establishment and rapid early growth.

Soundscape Dynamics at Anuran Reproductive Sites in Pannonian Biogeographical Region：Effects of Road Noise on Vocal Activity

The emerging field of soundscape ecology views ecosystems in terms of biophony, geophony and anthrophony. Soundscape ecology considers the effects of sound on fauna, and this research focuses on anuran breeding lek soundscapes. The sensitivity of anuran breeding leks to acoustic disturbances makes breeding leks an important venue for a comparative soundscape study. We made long-term（〉 24 h） sound recordings in three representative wetlands and short-term（〈 30 min） recordings in ten sites in the Pannonian Biogeographical Region of Hungary and around the Hungary and Slovakia border. Long-term soundscapes of the floodplain stretch, where there is relatively minor anthrophonical disturbance, showed an obvious circadian change in sound intensities. The site with moderate sound contamination exhibited a disturbed pattern of circadian sound variation, while the site with heavy traffic noise displayed an apparently random temporal soundscape. At different amphibian breeding sites during mating season, our short-term recordings were dominated by anuran calls, bird songs and wind noises, while insect calls and rain were present to a lesser degree. Our study indicates that vehicle traffic noise is a severe imposition to the natural soundscape, and suggests that soundscape monitoring can provide a reliable and sensitive index of environmental change for both short-term and long-term periods.

Online Food Delivery Platforms(OFDPs)has witnessed phenomenal growth in the past few years,especially this year due to the COVID-19 *** Pandemic has forced many governments across the world to give momentum to OFD services and make their presence among the *** Presence of several multinational and national companies in this sector has enhanced the competition and companies are trying to adapt various marketing strategies and exploring the brand experience(BEX)dimension that helps in enhancing the brand equity(BE)of *** are critical for building brand loyalty(BL)and making companies *** can experience different kinds of brand experiences through feeling,emotions,affection,behavior,and *** present research work is taken up to analyze the factors affecting BEX and its impact on BL and BE of the OFDPs and analyze the mediating role of BL in the relationship between BEX and BE of the OFDPs in the Indian context.A survey of 457 Indian customers was carried out.A questionnaire was used for data collection and a mediation study was used to test hypothesized *** computational analysis reveals that BEX influences the BL and BE of *** study further indicates that BL mediates the relationship between BEX and BE of *** effective marketing and relationship management practices will help company to enhance BEX that will enable in enhancing BL and raising BE of their *** therefore provides a more thorough analysis of BEX constructs and their consequences than previous *** of the managerial implication,limitations,and scope of future research are also presented in the study.

Cadmium(Cd)induces several effects in different tissues,but our knowledge of the toxic effects on organelles is insuffi *** observe the progression of Cd effects on organelle structure and function,HuH-7 cells(human hepatic carcinoma cell line)were exposed to CdCl2 in increasing concentrations(1μM–20μM)and exposure times(2 h–24 h).During Cd treatment,the cells exhibited a progressive decrease in viability that was both time-and *** treated cells displayed progressive morphological changes that included cytoplasm retraction and nuclear condensation preceding a total loss of cell *** with 10μM for 12 h led to irreversible *** these drastic and irreparable damages,treated cells(5μM for 12 h)presented a progressive loss of mitochondrial function and cytoplasm acidifi cation as well as dysfunction and disorganization of microfi laments and endoplasmic *** damages led to the induction of apoptotic events and an increase in autophagic bodies in the *** results revealed that Cd affects multiple intra-cellular targets that induce alterations in the mitochondria,cytoskeleton,endoplasmic reticulum and acidic compartments,ultimately culminating in cell death via apoptotic and autophagic pathways.

Over the last half century,surgical aortic valve replacement(SAVR)has evolved to offer a durable and efficient valve haemodynamically,with low procedural complications that allows favourable remodelling of left ventricular(LV)structure and *** latter has become more challenging among elderly patients,particularly following trans-catheter aortic valve implantation(TAVI).Precise understanding of myocardial adaptation to pressure and volume overloading and its responses to valve surgery requires comprehensive assessments from aortic valve energy loss,valvular-vascular impedance to myocardial activation,force-velocity relationship,and myocardial *** hypertrophy and myocardial fibrosis remains as the structural and morphological focus in this *** intervention in asymptomatic aortic stenosis or regurgitation along with individualised management of hypertension and atrial fibrillation is likely to improve patient *** pacing via the His-Purkinje system for conduction abnormalities,further reduction in para-valvular aortic regurgitation along with therapy of angiotensin receptor blockade will improve patient outcome by facilitating hypertrophy regression,LV coordinate contraction,and global vascular *** leaflet thromboses require anticoagulation while impaired access to coronary ostia risks future TAVI-in-TAVI or coronary *** comparable long-term durability and the resolution of TAVI related complications become available,SAVR remains the first choice for lower risk younger patients.
