Research to date indicates that the number of coronary artery bypass graft （CABG） surgery patients affected by depression （i.e., major, minor, dysthymia） approximates between 30% and 40% of all cases. A longstanding empirical interest on psychosocial factors in CABG surgery patients highlights an association with increased risk of morbidity in the short and longer term. Recent evidence suggests that both depression and anxiety increase the risk for mortality and morbidity after CABG surgery independent of medical factors, although the behavioral and biological mechanisms are poorly understood. Though neither depression nor anxiety seem to markedly affect neuropsy- chological dysfunction, depression confers a risk for incident delirium. Following a comprehensive overview of recent literature, practical advice is described for clinicians taking into consideration possible screening aids to improve recognition of anxiety and depression among CABG surgery patients. An overview of contemporary interventions and randomized, controlled trials are described, along with suggestions for future CABG surgery research.

The paper by Lu et al. [1] ＂A survey on the status of semen analysis in 118 laboratories in China＂ provides a major review of the current methods of semen analysis in China's Mainland. It involved a 36-item questionnaire completed by technicians in 118 of a possible 145 potential semen laboratories. Recruitment for the study was via contacts developed at Chinese Andrology meetings and training sessions between 2005 and 2007. It is not stated how comprehensive this strategy would be for accessing all semen laboratories in China. About half the participating laboratories were in general hospitals and the others in hospitals with academic affiliations or family planning institutes.

Four Steels,C-Mn-0.05V,C-Mn-0.11V,C-Mn-0.03Nb and C-Mn were subjected to heat treatment to simulate the microstructure of a coarse grained heat affected zone (CGHAZ) and an intercritically reheated coarse grained heat affected zone (ICCGHAZ).This involved reheating to 1350°C,rapid cooling (Δt 8/5 =24s) to room temperature and then reheating to either 750°C or 800°*** toughness of the HAZs was assessed using both Charpy and CTOD *** features were characterised by optical,scanning` and transmission electron *** examinations of the Charpy and CTOD specimens were carried out to understand the micromechanism of fracture under different microstructural and test *** CGHAZ toughness was similar for the steels except that Steel C-Mn-0.05V had a slightly lower ITT compared to the *** toughness deteriorated in the ICCGHAZ for all the steels,again Steel C-Mn-0.05V had a superior toughness compared to the other three steels in both ICCGHAZ *** the level of vanadium to 0.11% caused a decrease in ICCGHAZ *** C-Mn-Nb exhibited a greater degradation of impact toughness after the intercritical *** presence of M-A constituents was the dominant factor in determining the toughness of the *** size and area fraction of the M-A constituents were the smallest in Steel *** vanadium level to 0.11% resulted in a greater area fraction of the M-A constituents,larger average and maximum sizes of M-A particles,and significantly more fields containing the *** addition of 0.031% Nb produced the largest M-A particles and the greatest area fraction for the steels tested.

Functional dyspepsia is a common clinical condition characterised by chronic or recurrent upper abdominal pain or discomfort commonly associated with a variety of associated gastrointestinal symptoms and a normal endoscopy. To standardise research-based approaches, an initial categorisation of into sub groups was agreed to, based on clusters of symptoms. However the early expectation that these subgroups would be associated with distinct pathophysiologies amenable to specific therapy has not been realised. A classification based on the most troublesome symptom has been suggested but the utility of this is also unclear. More recent data suggest that some of the pathophysiologic dysfunctions may be associated with specific symptoms and so provide a better tool for grouping patients. But this approach remains incomplete as current insights into the pathogenesis are still too limited for this to be satisfactory. In conclusion, no classification provides for an adequate treatment-based approach to the syndrome of functional dyspepsia. As a consequence treatment remains largely empiric.

Polysilicon Microelectromechanical systems(MEMS) are the subject of intensive researches. Surface chemistry and topography of a MEMS test structure fabricated at Sandia National Laboratory, USA, were studied by means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and atomic force microscopy(AFM). XPS C_ 1sand Si_ 2pspectra from the polysilicon components, silicon nitride substrate and a reference silicon wafer were compared. The results confirm the presence of a self-assembled monolayer(SAM) on the MEMS surface. An island-like morphology was found on both polysilicon and silicon nitride surfaces of the MEMS. The islands take the form of caps, being up to 0.5 μm in diameter and 20 nm in height. It is concluded that the co-existence of columnar growth and equiaxed growth during the low pressure chemical vapor deposition(LPCVD) of these layers leads to the observed morphology and the islands are caps to the columnar structures.

Objective: To observe the synergistic efficacy between Adenovirus-mediated bcl-Xs(Adv-bcl-Xs) gene transfer and chemotherapy on ovarian cancer cell growth. Methods: NuTu-19 cells were infected by different titers of Adv-bcl-Xs and treated with topotecan in the meantime. Cell proliferation was measured 3 days later by MTT. Graphical representations and statistical analyses for their interaction in tumor cells were done. Results: The statistical result and Graphical representations of the statistical modeling showed synergy effect on cell growth inhibition (P<0.01). Conclusion: There were synergistic efficacies between Adv-bcl-Xs gene therapy and Topotecan in ovarian cancer cell growth.
