AIM： To compare two different H pylori stool antigen tests as noninvasive diagnostic methods. METHODS： The study population consisted of 22 upper gastrointestinal system bleeding patients. Urea breath test （UBT）, rapid urease test （RUT） and histopathological examination were applied to all patients. Stool specimens from these patients were examined by rapid STPIP!HpSA and one step simple H pylori antigen cassette test for the detection of Hpylori antigens. RESULTS： For these 22 patients, 15 （68.2%） were diagnosed as positive and seven （31.8%） were diagnosed negative for H pylori infection by the gold standard methods. Whereas 10 （45.5%） were positive and 12 （54.5%） were diagnosed negative by the rapid STPIP!HpSA test. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values were 60%, 86%, 90% and 50%, respectively. When compared to the gold standard methods, these differences were not significant. However, six patients （27.3%） were positive, and 16 （72.7%） were negative by the simple H pylori stool antigen cassette test. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values were 33%, 86%, 83% and 38%, respectively. Compared to the gold standard methods, the simple H pylori stool antigen cassette test results were significantly different （P = 0.012）. CONCLUSION： Rapid STRIP!HpSA test could be used as a routine diagnostic tool in the microbiology laboratory for assessing clinical significance and eradication control of H pylori in upper gastrointestinal system bleeding patients.

AIM:To analyze gastric polypoid lesions in our patient- population with respect to histopathologic features and demographic,clinical,and endoscopic characteristics of patients. METHODS:Clinical records and histopathologic reports of patients with gastric polypoid lesions were analyzed *** lesions had been totally removed by either endoscopic polypectomy or hot biopsy *** histopathologic slides were re-evaluated by the same histopathologist. RESULTS:One-hundred and fifty gastric polypoid lesions were identified in 91 *** were 53(58 %)women and 38(42 %)men with a median age of 53(range,31 to 82)*** most frequent presenting symptom was dyspepsia that was observed in 35(38.5 %)patients. Symptoms were mostly related to various associated gastric abnormalities such as chronic gastritis or H pylori infection rather than polypoid lesion *** lesions were commonly located in the antrum followed by *** of 150 lesions,80(53 %)had the largest dimensions less than or equal to 5 mm and only 7 were *** frequencies of hyperplastic polyps,foveolar hyperplasia,and fundic gland polyps were 46 %,18 %,and 14 % respectively. We also detected gastritis varioliformis in 12 specimens, lymphoid follicles in 9,4 adenomatous polyps in 4,polypoid lesions with edematous mucosa in 4,inflammatory polyps in 3,and carcinoid tumor in *** changes were observed within two hyperplastic polyps and low grade dysplasia in one *** evaluation of the surrounding gastric mucosa demonstrated chronic gastritis in 72(79 %)patients and H pylori infection in 45(49 %). CONCLUSION:Hyperplastic polyps are the mbst frequently encountered subtype of gastric polypoid *** are usually associated with chronic gastritis or H pylori *** to the previous belief,they may harbour adenomatous changes or dysplastic foci. Comparison of subconjunctivally injected bevacizumab, ranibizumab, and pegaptanib for inhibition of corneal neovascularization in a rat model

AIM: To compare the efficacies of subconjunctival bevacizumab, ranibizumab, and pegaptanib sodium injections for the inhibition of corneal neovascularization in an experimental rat model. METHODS: Sixteen corneas of 16 rats were chemically cauterized and randomized into four groups: bevacizumab group that treated with 0.05mL/1.25mg bevacizumab, ranibizumab group that treated with 0.05mL/0.5mg ranibizumab, pegaptanib group that treated with 0.05mL/0.15mg pegaptanib sodium, and control group that treated with 0.05mL saline solution. Digital photographs of the corneas were taken and analyzed using an image analysis software program. All corneas were excised and examined histologically on the 15 th day. RESULTS: Each treatment group had significantly less neovascularized corneal areas and fewer blood vessels than the control group (all P 0.05). CONCLUSION: Subconjunctival bevacizumab, ranibiz-umab, and pegaptanib sodium were effective with no corneal epitheliopathy for inhibiting corneal neovascularization after corneal burn in rats .Bevacizumab was more effective than ranibizumab and pegaptanib sodium.

Green Value Chain： A Case Study in Turkey about the Relationships among Antecedents, Initiatives and Results of Green Value Chain Implementations

The present study was conducted to determine the green value chain implementations of large and medium size businesses and to investigate the relationships among antecedents, initiatives and results of green value chain implementations. The antecedents of green value chain implementations were considered from four dimensions namely regulations, public concerns, expected competitive advantage and top management commitment; green value chain initiatives were considered from three dimensions namely green primary activities, green internal support activities and green external support activities; the results of green value chain implementations were considered from two dimensions namely economic performance and socio-ecologic performance. A model was created according to the objectives of the study and hypotheses were formed. Multiple regression analyses were performed to investigate the relationships between the antecedents and initiatives of green value chain implementations. A relationship was not observed between green primary activities and economic and socio-ecologic performance. While a positive relationship was observed between green external support activities and economic performance, a positive relationship was observed between green internal support activities and both economic and socio-ecologic performance.

Objective:To identify effects of various nationwide vaccination protocols on the evolution of new SARS-CoV-2 infections among adult population and to evaluate the safety of mRNA(BioNTech/Pfizer)***:Totally 10735 adult volunteers that received at least one dose of BioNTech/Pfizer or triple doses of CoronaVac participated in this cross-sectional-online survey between 1 and 10 September *** information was collected covering a 5-month period from April 2021 to September *** about people who were vaccinated with only single and double dose CoronaVac were not included in this ***:At least one side effect after single and double dose of BioNTech/Pfizer and triple doses of CoronaVac were observed in 42.1%,42.5%and 10.9%,*** most common side effects were shoulder/arm pain,weakness/fatigue,muscle/joint pain and *** side effects were the most frequent in single BioNTech/Pfizer,while it was the least in triple *** rate of positive PCR tests before vaccination was 17.6%,and decreased to 3.0%after *** rates of positive SARS CoV-2-PCR were 18.8%,3.5%,3.1%,0.5%and 4.6%in single BioNTech/Pfizer,double BioNTech/Pfizer,double CoronaVac+single BioNTech/Pfizer,double CoronaVac+double BioNTech/Pfizer and triple CoronaVac,*** 1.8%of PCR positive COVID-19 cases needed intensive unit care in the pre-vaccination period,intensive care unit was required in 0%,1.5%,2.4%,0%and 4.2%after single BioNTech/Pfizer,double BioNTech/Pfizer,double CoronaVac+single BioNTech/Pfizer,double CoronaVac+double BioNTech/Pfizer and triple CoronaVac,*** rate after vaccination was 0.4%.Conclusions:The rarity of COVID-19 infection after vaccination suggests that efficacy of vaccines is *** the other hand,the data underscore the critical importance of continued public health mitigation.

Unusual histopathological findings in appendectomy specimens from patients with suspected acute appendicitis

AIM: To investigate the prevalence and implications of unusual histopathological findings in appendectomy specimens from patients with suspected acute appendicitis. METHODS: The demographic and histopathological data of 1621 patients (≥ 16 years-old) who underwent appendectomy to treat an initial diagnosis of acute appendicitis between January 1999 and November 2011 were retrospectively assessed. Microscopic findings were used to classify the patients under six categories: appendix vermiformis, phlegmonous appendicitis, gan- grenous appendicitis, perforated appendicitis, supurative appendicitis, and unusual histopathologic findings. The demographic and clinicopathologic characteristics of patients with unusual histopathologic findings were evaluated in detail, and re-analysis of archived resected appendix specimens was carried out. RESULTS: A total of 912 males and 709 females, from16 to 94 years old, were included in the study and comprised 789 cases of suppurative appendicitis, 370 cases of appendix vermiformis, 243 cases of perforated gangrenous appendicitis, 53 cases of flegmaneous appendicitis, 32 cases of gangrenous appendicitis, and 134 (8.3%) cases of unusual histopathological findings. The unusual histopathological findings included fibrous obliteration (n = 62), enterobius vermicularis (n = 31), eosinophilic infiltration (n = 10), mucinous cystadenoma (n = 8), carcinoid tumor (n = 6), granulomatous inflammation (n = 5), adenocarcinoma (n = 4; one of them mucinous), and mucocele (n = 3), adenomatous polyp (n = 1), taenia sup (n = 1), ascaris lumbricoides (n = 1), appendiceal diverticula (n = 1), and B cell non-hodgkin lymphoma (n = 1). None of the 11 patients with subsequent diagnosis of tumor were suspected of cancer prior to the appendectomy. CONCLUSION: Even when the macroscopic appearance of appendectomy specimens is normal, histopathological assessment will allow early diagnosis of many unusual diseases.
