Nonlinear frequency conversion is a pathway to unlock undiscovered physics and implement tailored light sources for spectroscopy or medicine.A key challenge is the establishment of spectrally flat outputs,which is particularly demanding in the context of soliton-based light conversion at low pump ***,we introduce the concept of controlling nonlinear frequency conversion by longitudinally varying resonances,allowing the shaping of soliton dynamics and achieving broadband spectra with substantial spectral *** varying resonances are realised by nanofilms with gradually changing thicknesses located on the core of an advanced microstructured *** with engineered thickness profiles are fabricated by tilted deposition,representing a waveguidecompatible approach to nano-fabrication,and inducing well-controlled resonances into the system,allowing unique dispersion control along the fibre *** features and dependencies are examined experimentally,showing improved bandwidth and spectral flatness via multiple dispersive wave generation and dispersionassisted soliton Raman shifts while maintaining excellent pulse-to-pulse stability and coherence in simulations,suggesting the relevance of our findings for basic science as well as tailored light sources.

Iron(Fe)minerals are commonly used to remove phosphorus(p)from waste streams,producing p-loaded Fe(Ⅲ)oxides or Fe(Ⅱ)phosphate minerals(e.g.,vivianite).These minerals may be used as fertilizers to enhance p circularity if solubilized in ***,we tested the p fertilizer value of recycled Fe phosphates(Feps)in a pot trial and in an incubation experiment,hypothesizing that p release from Feps is possible under Fe(Ⅲ)-reducing ***,a pot trial was set up with rice(Oryza sativa)in all combinations of soil flooding or not,three p-deficient soils(acid,neutral,and calcareous),and six Feps(three Fe(Ⅲ)ps and three Fe(Ⅱ)ps)referenced to triple superphosphate(TSp)or zero *** p uptake responded to TSp application in all treatments but only marginally to *** redox potential did not decrease to-200 mV by flooding for a brief period(13 d)during the pot trial.A longer incubation experiment(60 d)was performed,including a treatment of glutamate addition to stimulate reductive conditions,and p availability was assessed with CaCl_(2)extraction of *** addition and/or longer incubation lowered soil redox potential top,and adequate p was reached in the calcareous soil and in the neutral soil amended with Fe(Ⅲ)*** can be concluded that prolonged soil flooding and organic matter addition can enhance the p fertilizer efficiency of ***,application of Fep in powder form may enhance p availability.

Dissolved organicmatter(DOM)is a heterogeneous pool of compounds and exhibits diverse adsorption characteristics with or without phosphorous(p)*** impacts of these factors on the burial and mobilization of organic carbon and p in aquatic ecosystems remain *** this study,an algae-derived DOM(ADOM)and a commercially available humic acid(HA)with distinct compositions were assessed for their adsorption behaviors onto iron(oxy)hydroxides(FeOx),both in the absence and presence of *** contained less aromatics but more protein-like and highly unsaturated structures with oxygen compounds(HUSO)than *** adsorption capacity of FeOx was significantly greater for ADOM than for ***-like and HUSO compounds in ADOM and humic-like compounds and macromolecular aromatics in HA were preferentially adsorbed by ***,ADOM demonstrated a stronger inhibitory effect on phosphate adsorption than *** observation suggests that the substantial release of autochthonous ADOM by algae could elevate internal p loading and pose challenges for the restoration of restore eutrophic *** presence of phosphate suppressed the adsorption of protein-like compounds in ADOM onto FeOx,resulting in an increase in the relative abundance of protein-like compounds and a decrease in the relative abundance of humic-like compounds in post-adsorption *** contrast,phosphate exhibited no discernible impact on the compositional fractionation of ***,our results show the source-composition characters of DOM influence the immobilization of both DOM and p in aquatic ecosystems through adsorption *** preferential adsorption of proteinaceous compounds within ADOM and aromatics within HA highlights the potential for the attachment with FeOx to diminish the original source-specific signatures of DOM,thereby contributing to the shared DOM characteristics observed across diverse aquatic environments.

The presence of organic matter in lakes profoundly impacts drinking water supplies,yet treatment processes involving coagulants and disinfectants can yield carcinogenic disinfection *** assessments of organic matter,such as chemical oxygen demand(COD_(Mn))and biochemical oxygen demand(BOD_(5)),are often ***,optical measurements of dissolved organic matter(DOM)offer a rapid and reliable means of obtaining organic matter composition *** we employed DOM optical measurements in conjunction with parallel factor analysis to scrutinize COD_(Mn)and BOD_(5)*** was performed using an independent dataset encompassing six lakes on the Yungui plateau from 2014 to 2016(n=256).Leveraging multiple linear regressions(MLRs)applied to DOM absorbance at 254 nm(a254)and fluorescence components C1-C5,we successfully traced COD_(Mn)and BOD_(5)variations across the entire plateau(68 lakes,n=271,R^(2)>0.8,pptical indices yielded superior estimates(higher R^(2))of COD_(Mn)and BOD_(5)during the rainy season compared to the dry season and demonstrated increased accuracy(R^(2)>0.9)in mesotrophic lakes compared to oligotrophic and eutrophic *** study underscores the utility of MLR-based DOM indices for inferring COD_(Mn)and BOD_(5)variability in plateau lakes and highlights the potential of integrating in situ and remote sensing platforms for water pollution early warning.

The exchange of oxygen (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) within an incubator has a significant impact on embryonic development (ED) and hatching processes. This study examines the influence of non-ventilation (NV) conditions during the first ten days of incubation at high altitudes on Leghorn hens hatching eggs. Five hundred four hatching eggs were equally divided into three treatment groups and placed in twelve incubators (R = 4). The first group was subjected to standard ventilated conditions (V) during the setting phase. The ventilation inlet holes of the remaining incubators in the NV treatments were closed with either micropore (M) or polypropylene (p) tape, referred to as NVM and NVp groups, respectively. These two different airtight settings were intended to allow for a gradual rise in CO2 naturally generated by the embryos. Results indicate that carbon dioxide concentration gradually increased during the first half of incubation, reaching 1.42% in the NVM group and 1.20% in the NVp group, while the V condition group remained at 0.15%. From 10 days of incubation onwards, normal V conditions were restored in all incubators. The highest hatchability of fertile eggs (HFE) was shown by the NVp group (55.7%), followed by the V (52.6%) and NVM (38.6%) groups. The NVp group showed a greater yolk-free body mass (YFBM) from 10 days of incubation until the hatch basket transfer. NV conditions during the first 10 days of incubation at high altitude produced higher YFBM with gradually decreasing yolk sac mass. In comparison to the NVM and V conditions, the particular NVp condition showed a beneficial impact on the quality of hatched chicks. Sustaining NVp condition (1.2% of CO2) throughout the first half of incubation at high altitude generated the optimal environment in the incubator ensuring the best hatchability results. The sectoral coupling of road traffic (in form of E-Mobility) and electrical energy supply (known as power-to-vehicle (p2V), vehicle-to-grid (V2G) is discussed as one of the possible development concepts for the flexible system integration of renewable energy sources (RES) and the support of the objectives of the German energy transition (aka. Energiewende). It is obvious that E-mobility, which shall produce as few emissions as possible, should be based on the exclusive use of renewable energies. At the same time, the E-mobility can help to reduce the negative effects of the grid integration of RES to the distribution grids. However, this assumes that the electric vehicles are smart integrated to the grids where they charge, meaning that they must be able to communicate and be controllable. Because per se unplanned and uncontrollable charging processes are harmful for the grid operation, especially if they occur frequently and unexpected in similar time periods, the effects can hardly be controlled and can lead to serious technical problems in practical grid operation. This paper provides an insight into the current development of E-mobility in Germany. The insight will be matched with the German development of the RES. By the combination of both sectors, the possible role of the E-mobility for the distribution grid will be depicted, which can have positive and negative aspects.

The attractiveness and efficacy of four anonymous anticoagulant-free alternative rodenticides(active ingredients cellulose or plaster)were tested on wild strain groups of house mice(Mus musculus Linnaeus)and brown rats(Rattus norvegicus Berkenhout)in laboratory choice and no-choice *** no-choice tests,the rodenticide product was offered ad libitum to the animals for 21 days(mice)and 10 days(rats),*** choice tests,the rodenticide product and non-poisoned food were offered for 28 days(mice)and 14 days(rats).Two products with cellulose(C1 and C2)as the active ingredient were tested against both mice and *** two no-choice tests with mice,all animals died within 14 days(C1)and 21 days(C2);in a third no-choice test,11%(2/18)of mice survived(C1:21 days).In all three tests,numerous incidents of cannibalism were *** attractiveness of cellulose baits was tested for one product(C1)in three trials against normal food *** all trials,bait consumption was low and all mice survived(15-34 days).Two no-choice trials with cellulose baits(C1)were conducted on groups of Rattus norvegicus;11 of 12 rats survived the bait feeding period and no cannibalism or sign of aggression between conspecifics was *** plaster-based(CaSO_(4)·0.5H_(2)O)products(p1 and p2)were tested against both mice and rats;in no-choice tests,only one mouse(n=20)and no rats(n=8)were killed,although the baits proved to be attractive for rats and mice in choice *** results of these experiments suggest that neither cellulose-based nor plaster-based rodenticides are suitable agents for the control of Mus musculus and Rattus norvegicus.
