An electrochromic copolymer film of 2-(3,3-dihexyl-3,4-dihydro-2 H-thieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxepin-6-yl)-7-(3,3-dihexyl-3,4-dihydro-2 H-thieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxepin-8-yl)-9 H-carbazole(M1) and 4,7-bis(thiophen-2-yl)benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole(M2) was prepared via electrochemical technique. The copolymerization was performed with one to one monomer feed ratio. Electrochemical and optical properties of the resulting copolymer film(P3) and the homopolymer films of M1 and M2(P1 and P2) were investigated by using cyclic voltammetry and UV-Vis spectrometry techniques, and the corresponding results were compared. Incorporation of M1 and M2 into copolymer matrix was clearly observed on the resulting cyclic voltammograms and UV-Vis spectra. P3 covered the visible regions coming from both P1 and P2, and exhibited a neutral state darker color than those of homopolymers. P3 film was found to have a multichromic behavior, appearing as brown in its neutral state while changing its color upon oxidation to dark-gray(at about 0.3 V), to blue(at about 0.6 V) and finally to grayish cyan(beyond 0.9 V), with a corresponding optical band gap of 1.65 eV.

In this editorial, we review the article by Ma and colleagues, published in the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major cause of cancer-related mortality. Although transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) has been used effectively for several years, particularly in patients with intermediate-stage HCC, the quest for the optimal combination therapy to enhance its efficacy and HCC treatment strategies persists. Combining TACE with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) like sorafenib or lenvatinib has shown confusing results in improving both progression-free survival and overall survival. Similarly, combining TACE with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has demonstrated potential efficacy by reshaping the tumor microenvironment and activating immune responses. Recent studies suggest combining TACE with TKIs and ICIs may offer synergistic effects. Additionally, combining TKIs and ICIs with other local treatments like microwave ablation or hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy has shown promise in enhancing efficacy. However, more extensive prospective studies are needed to validate these findings. Overall, these combinations represent a promising direction in HCC management, emphasizing the need for further research to optimize treatment outcomes.

Isotopic fragment yields of projectile fragmentation in peripheral collisions of^(86)Kr on^(124;112)Sn and the mean neutron-to-proton ratios of the fragments are calculated, theoretically, within the ensemble approach of statistical multifragmentation model. Obtained data are compared to the experimental cross-section measurements for the projectile-like fragmentation in the reaction of 25 Me V/nucleon^(86)Kr+^(124;112)Sn at Texas A&M *** show the enhancement in the production of neutronrich isotopes close to the projectile as observed in the experiments. We also demonstrate the universality of the limitation of the excitation energy induced in the projectile residues.

Anisotropy effect on strengths of metamorphic rocks

This paper aims to study the effect of anisotropy on strengths of several metamorphic rocks of southern(Cine) submassif of Menderes metamorphic massif in southwest Turkey. Four different metamorphic rocks including foliated phyllite, schist, gneiss and marble(calcschist) were selected and *** surveys were made along lines for each rock and evaluated with DIPS program. L-type Schmidt hammer was applied in the directions parallel and perpendicular to foliation during the field study. Several hand samples and rock blocks were collected during the field study for measurements of dry and saturated densities, dry and saturated unit weights and porosity, and for petrographic analysis and strength determination in laboratory. L-and N-type Schmidt hammers were applied in the directions perpendicular(anisotropy angle of 0°) and parallel(anisotropy angle of 90) to the foliation on selected blocks of phyllite, schist, gneiss and marble(calcschist). The phyllite and schist have higher porosity and lower density values than the other rocks. However, coarse crystalline gneiss and marble(calcschist) have higher rebound values and strengths, and they are classified as strong-very strong rocks. Generally, the rebound values in the direction perpendicular to the foliation are slightly higher than that in the direction parallel to foliation. Rebound values of N-type Schmidt hammer are higher than the L-type values except for phyllite. Sometimes, the rebound values of laboratory and field applications gave different results. This may result from variable local conditions such as minerals differentiation,discontinuities, water content, weathering degree and thickness of foliated structure.

New theoretical calculations are performed to investigate the Coulomb proximity and angular momentum effects on multifragmentation picture for84Kr+112,124 Sn collisions at an incident beam energy of 35 Me V/*** and isotopic distributions and the mean neutron-to-proton ratios of the fragments are reproduced within the microcanonical Markov chain calculations on the basis of Statistical Multifragmentation Model. It is shown that the Coulomb interactions and angular momentum effects are very important to reproduce isotopic composition of nuclear fragments in peripheral heavy-ion collisions at Fermi energies. Our results imply that it is possible to investigate in laboratories the modification of structure parameters of fragments, such as the symmetry energy coefficient, at subnuclear densities in dense environment of other species.
