The ability of biostimulants and copper-containing fungicide to protect cotton against chilling stress

Background Cotton(Gossypium hirsutum l.),adapted to tropical and subtropical regions of the world,is highly sensitive to low temperatures throughout its life *** objective of this study was to evaluate the mitigating effects of different doses of animal-derived(0.25%,0.50%,and 1.00% Isabion■),seaweed-based(0.165%,0.330%,and 0.660% Proton■)biostimulants,as well as a copper(Cu)-containing fungicide application,on cotton cultivar lazer seedlings at the four true leaves(V4)*** plants were exposed to a low temperature of 5℃for 48 h,and the changes in morphological(seedling fresh and dry weight,plant height,and stem diameter)and physiological parameters(leaf temperature,chlorophyll content,relative water content,electrolyte leakage,and relative injury)were *** The results revealed that chilling stress reduced plant growth,while biostimulants helped protect the plants and overcome the adverse effects of *** chilling stress,there was a considerable reduction in seedling fresh weight(SFW),seedling dry weight(SDW),plant height(PH),stem diameter(SD),leaf temperature(lT),and relative water content(RWC).Cotton seedlings treated with the animal-derived biostimulants showed significantly enhanced SFW,SDW,PH,SD,lT,chlorophyll content(Chl),electrolyte leakage(El),and relative injury(RI),although there were no positive changes in *** significant differences in the morphological traits were observed among the doses of seaweed *** SDW,PH,El,and RI,the best results were obtained with the application of a fungicide containing *** These results show the efficiency of the biostimulant and fungicide treatments in mitigating low-temperature stress in cotton *** a copper-containing fungicide to cotton seedlings helped to counteract the negative effects of low-temperature stress and to protect the plants from damage by maintaining electrolyte *** the biostimulant applications,all levels of animal-derive

Hydrodynamics of Euglena Gracilis during locomotion

Enhancement of pacemaker induced stochastic resonance by an autapse in a scale-free neuronal network

An autapse is an unusual synapse that occurs between the axon and the soma of the same neuron. Mathematically, it can be described as a self-delayed feedback loop that is defined by a specific time-delay and the so-called autaptic coupling strength. Recently, the role and function of autapses within the nervous system has been studied extensively. Here, we extend the scope of theoretical research by investigating the effects of an autapse on the transmission of a weak localized pacemaker activity in a scale-free neuronal network. Our results reveal that by mediating the spiking activity of the pacemaker neuron, an autapse increases the propagation of its rhythm across the whole network, if only the autaptic time delay and the autaptic coupling strength are properly adjusted. We show that the autapse-induced enhancement of the transmission of pacemaker activity occurs only when the autaptic time delay is close to an integer multiple of the intrinsic oscillation time of the neurons that form the network. In particular, we demonstrate the emergence of multiple resonances involving the weak signal, the intrinsic oscillations, and the time scale that is dictated by the autapse. Interestingly, we also show that the enhancement of the pacemaker rhythm across the network is the strongest if the degree of the pacemaker neuron is lowest. This is because the dissipation of the localized rhythm is contained to the few directly linked neurons, and only afterwards, through the secondary neurons, it propagates further. If the pacemaker neuron has a high degree, then its rhythm is simply too weak to excite all the neighboring neurons, and propagation therefore fails.

Triggering economic growth to ensure financial stability:case study of Northern Cyprus

Surface Pencil with a Common line of Curvature in Minkowski 3-Space

In this paper, we analyze the problem of constructing a surface pencil from a given spacelie （timelike） line of curvature. Using the Frenet frame of the given line of curvature in Minkowski 3-space, we express the surface pencil as a linear combination of this frame and derive the necessary and sufficient conditions for the coefficients to satisfy the line of curvature requirement. We illustrate this method by presenting some examples.

Interpretable deep learning for roof fall hazard detection in underground mines

In technology-intensive markets, it is a common strategy for companies to develop long-term multiple generation product lines instead of releasing consecutive single products. Even though this strategy is more profitable than sequentially introducing single product generations, it can also result in inter-product line cannibalization. Cannibalization of multiple-generation product lines is a complex problem that needs to be taken into account at the early product line planning stage in order to sustain long-term profitability. In this paper, we propose an agent-based model that can simulate the potential cannibalization scenarios within a multiple-generation product line. We view a multiple-generation product line （MGPl） as complex adaptive system where each product generation in the MGPl adjusts its sales price over time based on the shifts in the market demand. The proposed model provides insights into how various pricing strategies impact the overall lifecycle profitability of MGPl and can be used to assist companies in developing appropriate dynamic pricing strategies at the early product line planning stages.

Discussion on“Empirical methods for determining shaft bearing capacity of semi-deep foundations socketed in rocks”[J Rock Mech Geotech Eng 6(2017)1140-151]

A new comprehensive set of data（n = 178） is compiled by adding a data set（n = 72） collected by Arioglu et al.（2007） to the data set（n = 106） presented in Rezazadeh and Eslami（2017）. Then, the compiled data set is evaluated regardless of the variation in lithology/strength. The proposed empirical equation in this study comprises a wider range of uniaxial compressive strength（UCS）（0.15 MPa 〈 σ_（rc）〈156 MPa） and various rock types. Rock mass cuttability index（RMCI） is correlated with shaft resistance（r_s） to predict the shaft resistance of rock-socketed piles. The prediction capacity of the RMCI versus r_s equation is also found to be in a fair good agreement with the presented data in Rezazadeh and Eslami（2017）. Since the RMCI is a promising parameter in the prediction of shaft resistance, the researchers in the rock-socketed pile design area should consider this parameter in the further investigations.

Effects of Temperature,Salinity,and Fluid Type on Acoustic Characteristics of Turbulent Flow Around Circular Cylinder

The effects of the temperature,salinity,and fluid type on the acoustic characteristics of turbulent flow around a circular cylinder were numerically investigated for the Reynolds numbers of 2.25×10^(4),4.5×10^(4),and 9.0×10^(4).Various hybrid methodsReynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(BANS)with the Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings(FWH)model,detached-eddy simulation(DES)with FWH,and large-eddy simulation with FWH-were used for the acoustic analyses,and their performances were evaluated by comparing the predicted results with the experimental *** DES-FWH hybrid method was found to be suitable for the aero-and hydro-acoustic *** hydro-acoustic measurements were performed in a silent circulation channel for the Reynolds number of 2.25×10^(4).The results showed that the fluid temperature caused an increase in the overall sound pressure levels(OASPls)and the maximum sound pressure levels(SPl_(T))for the air medium;however,it caused a decrease for the water *** salinity had smaller effects on the OASPl and SPlT compared to the ***,the main peak frequency increased with the air temperature but decreased with the water temperature,and it was nearly constant with the change in the salinity *** SPlT and OASPl for the water medium were quite higher than those for the air medium.

Collisional line Assignments and Hyperfine Structure Interpretation in Cs22^3△1g State

Accurately known energy level structure of the A＇∑u＋b3 IIu complex of states from a recent global de-perturbation of these states has enabled additional assignments of 140 perturbation facilitated infrared-infrared double resonance （PFIIDR） transitions to the 2^3△1g state from collisionally populated intermediate 1 ＋ A Eu levels. Together with the 221 previously observed 2^3△1g←A1∑u＋←X1∑g＋ Eu X Eg double resonance lines [J. Chem. Phys. 128, 204313 （2008）], molecular constants and the Rydberg-Klein-Rees potential energy curve of the 23△1g state have been recalculated （excluding 54 perturbed levels）. The centrifugal distortion constant has been determined and agrees well with the value calculated based on standard empirical formulas. The hyperfine structure of the 23△1g state, which has not resolved in our sub-Doppler excitation spectra of the 23△1g state, has been interpreted with a preliminary simulation.
