Monoclinic yttrium tantalate (M'-YTaO4,M'-YTO),and two different kinds of yttrium niobium-tantalate (M'-YTao.85Nbo.15O4 (M'-YTNO) and Eu3+ doped M'-YTao.85Nbo.15O4 (M'-YTNO∶Eu3+)) were produced by sol-gel method and grown on single crystalline Si (100) substrate by spin coating *** properties and thermal behaviours of the films were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD),atomic force microscopy (AFM),scanning electron microscopy (SEM),and thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA).Systematic Steady-state photoluminescence and lifetime measurements in a series of yttrium niobium-tantalate with varying amounts of Eu3+ were *** photoluminescence spectra of the films exhibited strong blue (380-400 nm) and red (614 nm) emissions upon ultraviolet *** intensities were strongly dependent on the host lattice composition and film morphology.1.5％ Eu3+ doped films exhibited the brightest luminescence and long lifetime extending to 1.22 ms when excited at 254 *** the best of our knowledge,this is the first attempt in the production of M'-YTO,M'-YTNO,and M'-YTNO∶Eu3+ films on single crystalline Si (100) substrate via sol-gel spin coating.

Predisposing factors and surgical outcome of complicated liver hydatid cysts

AIM: To evaluate the predisposing factors for peritoneal perforation and intrabiliary rupture and the effects of these complications on surgical outcome in liver hydatid ***: A total of 372 patients with liver hydatid cysts who had undergone surgical treatment were evaluated retrospectively. Twenty eight patients with peritoneal perforation, 93 patients with spontaneous intrabiliary perforation, and 251 patients with noncomplicated hydatid cysts were treated in our ***: When the predisposing factors for complications were evaluated, younger age, superf icial position, and larger cyst dimensions (P 0.05). The overall recurrence rate was 3.8% (14 patients), but there was not any statistical difference among the patient groups (P = 0.13). The early postoperative mortality rate was 1.1%. CONCLUSION: In peritoneally perforated and intrabiliary ruptured cases, the most important steps are irrigation of the peritoneal cavity and clearance of the cystic material from the biliary tree.

A comparative study on dry sliding wear and oxidation performance of HVOF and laser re-melted Al0.2CrFeNi（Co， Cu） alloys

Al0.2CrFeNiCo and Al0.2CrFeNiCu high entropy alloys （HEA） were deposited with HVOF on 316L substrate. Later， a laser re-melting （LR） process was applied to enhance the coating microstructure. LR process effect on dry sliding wear and oxidation behaviors were investigated. The mixture of powders with free elements led to the formation of inner oxides in HVOF coatings. The presence of oxide and porosity were eliminated using LR. After LR， FCC was the dominant phase in both alloys， while BCC， sigma and Cr2O3 phases were observed in Al0.2CrFeNiCo alloy. The hardness of the Al0.2CrFeNiCo and Al0.2CrFeNiCu coatings after HVOF was 591 and 361 HV. After LR， these hardnesses decreased to 259 and 270 HV， respectively. Although HVOF coatings were most affected by increased load， they showed the highest wear resistance compared to other samples. The lowest wear resistance was seen in the substrate. After the oxidation tests， HVOF coating layer was completely oxidized and also， the coating layer delaminated from the substrate after 50 h oxidation due to their porous structure. LR coatings exhibited better oxidation performance. Al0.2CrFeNiCo was dominantly composed of Cr2O3 scale exhibiting a slower-growing tendency at the end of the oxidation tests while other was composed of spinel phases.

AIM: To compare two different anti-vascular endothelial growth factor(anti-VEGF) treatment regimens'-a priori pro re nata(PRN) and PRN regimen following^(th)e loading phaseanatomical and functional results in neovascular agerelated macular degeneration(n AMD) patients. METHODS: Totally 544 n AMD patients followed and treated with aflibercept(n=135) and ranibizumab(n=409)at 9 different centers between 2013 and 2015 were enrolled into^(th)is retrospective multicenter study. Patients with initial best corrected visual acuity(BCVA) interval of 1.3-0.3(log MAR) and a minimum follow-up of 12 mo were included. Patients under two different regimens-a priori pro re nata(1+PRN) or 3 consecutive intravitreal injections followed by a PRN regimen(3+PRN)-were compared in BCVA at 3^(th), 6^(th) and 12^(th) months, and in central macular^(th)ickness(CMT) at 6^(th) and 12^(th) months. The total study group, intravitreal ranibizumab(IVR) and intravitreal aflibercept(IVA) groups were evaluated separately. RESULTS: The mean CMT decreased in^(th)e 1+PRN(n=101) regimen from 407 to 358 and 340 μm and in^(th)e 3+PRN(n=443) group from 398 to 318 and finally to 310 μm at months 6 and 12, respectively. Anatomically,^(th)e CMT reduction at 6^(th) month(48.5 vs 76.4;P<0.05) was statistically significant in favor of 3+PRN group. BCVA changed in 1+PRN group from 0.77 to 0.78, 0.75 and 0.75;in 3+PRN group from 0.81 to 0.69, 0.72, and 0.76 at months 3, 6, and 12, respectively. Visual gain was statistically better in 3+PRN group at 3^(th) month(-0.01 vs 0.12;P<0.001). In IVR group, CMT reduction was in greater in 3+PRN at 6^(th)(44 vs 72) and 12^(th) month(61 vs 84), but statistically insignificant. The 3+PRN group revealed statistically better visual results at 3^(th) month(-0.02 vs 0.11, P<0.05). In IVA group, although statistically insignificant, CMT reduction(61 vs 89, 6^(th) month;85 vs 97, 12^(th) month) and visual gain(0.02 vs 0.16;0.02 vs 0.14;0.05 vs 0.11) was found in favor of 3+PRN group

Inhibitive Effect of Some Aldehydes on Corrosion ofAl-3Mg Alloy in Acid Solutions

2M hydrochloric acid solution was used and the methods of polarization and weight loss measurements were adopted. The two methods give the same order of inhibition efficiency. Polarization studies reveal that catholic polarization is more pronounced than the anodic one. The results indicate that all the studied compounds excellent corrosion inhibitors and the percentage efficiency varying with both the type and concentration of the inhibitor and being in the following order: p-methoxy-benzaldehyde (1)benzaldehyde (2)p-chlorobenzaldehyde (3)p-nitrobenzaldehyde (4). The degree of surface coverage of the adsorbed additives was determined and the results obey the Langmuir isotherm. Effect of temperature on the corrosion rate in absence and presence of different concentrations of the used inhibitors was investigated by using weight loss measurements. The results indicate that the corrosion rate rapidly increases with increasing temperature. (Edited author abstract) 19 Refs.

The SRS TM Endoscopic Stapling System(Medigus,Tel Aviv,Israel) is a new tool capable of creating a totally endoscopic fundoplication,combined with an endoscope,endoscopic ultrasound and a surgical *** TM endoscopic stapling for gastro-esophageal reflux disease is a minimally invasive,outpatient procedure,which requires general anesthesia with positive-pressure *** the patient on positive endexpiratory pressure(PEEP) may minimize the pressure gradient between the esophagus and the mediastinum,as well as help to prevent air from leaking around the screws and causing *** addition,in patients with hiatal hernia,higher PEEP levels may be required to increase intra-thoracic pressure and to force the stomach to slide into the abdomen for ease of *** advise smoother emergence from anesthesia,taking precautions for retching,postoperative nausea and vomiting(PONV),while coughing and gagging during extubation and PONV may affect the success of the *** intravenous anesthesia with propofol and remifentanil seems to be a good choice for these reasons.

Obesity and diabetes is a co-pandemic and amajor health concern that is expanding. It has many psychosocial and economic consequences due to morbidity and mortality of this disease combination. The pathophysiology of obesity and related diabetes is complex and multifactorial. One arm of this disease process is the genetic susceptibility. Other arm is dependent on the intricate neuro-humoral factors that converge in the central nerve system. Gut hormones and the adipose tissue derived factors plays an important role in this delicate network. Bariatric surgery provides the only durable option for treatment of obesity and furthermore it provides a remission in the concomitant diseases that accompany obesity. This review provides a brief insight to all these mechanisms and tries to deduce the possible reasons of remission of type 2 diabetes after bariatric surgery.
