The Colíder Paleoproterozoic felsic volcanism:New insights into stratigraphy and petrogenesis in the southern Amazonian Craton

The eastern side of Alta Floresta Mineral Province(AFMP)(União do Norte region)comprises an effusive/-subvolcanic phase,explosive phase,and epiclastic *** effusive/subvolcanic phase comprises massive porphyritic rhyolite with different degrees of crystallinity,porphyritic rhyolite with flow structure,and microcrystalline *** explosive phase is characterized by welded lapilli tuff,lapilli tuff with flow structure,stratified lapilli tuff,and tuff with accretionary *** and siltstones characterize epiclastic *** are porphyritic rhyolite dikes that cut the volcanic *** rocks of the Colíder Group are rhyolites(>70%SiO2)with calcic-alkaline to alkaline-calcic affinity.A rhyolitic rock is predominantly ferroan and metaluminous,while a pyroclastic rock is predominantly magnesian to ferroan and meta-to peraluminous in *** rocks have a high LREE content,and slight fractionation of HREE suggests they have hybrid geochemical characteristics of high potassium calc-alkaline,shoshonitic,and suggestive affinities of A-type magmas,probably produced in a post-collisional orogenic *** rocks have a relatively high level of Ba and Rb and a negative anomaly for Sr,P,Nb,Ta,and Ti,suggesting an intra-plate mantle source with contributions from a metasomatized mantle *** rocks do not have adakitic characteristics nor fertility for Cu-Au(Sr/Y<1.9 and LaN/YbN<38.0)as in other regions of the *** welded lapilli tuff rocks show U-Pb age of 1838±17 Ma and 1817±2 Ma and are the older explosive *** effusive/subvolcanic phase has U-Pb ages of 1800±3 Ma and 1792±3 Ma obtained in the massive porphyritic *** age interval of approximately 46 Ma(1838–1792 Ma)suggests the presence of two or more volcanic cycles or distinct volcanic *** on the interpretation of volcanic and epiclastic deposits and remote sensing products,the paleoenvironmental reconstruction includes subaerial with effusive/subvolcani

Sailboat navigation control system based on spiking neural networks

In this paper,we presented the development of a navigation control system for a sailboat based on spiking neural networks(SNN).Our inspiration for this choice of network lies in their potential to achieve fast and low-energy computing on specialized *** train our system,we use the modulated spike time-dependent plasticity reinforcement learning rule and a simulation environment based on the BindsNET library and USVSim *** objective was to develop a spiking neural network-based control systems that can learn policies allowing sailboats to navigate between two points by following a straight line or performing tacking and gybing strategies,depending on the sailing scenario *** presented the mathematical definition of the problem,the operation scheme of the simulation environment,the spiking neural network controllers,and the control strategy *** a result,we obtained 425 SNN-based controllers that completed the proposed navigation task,indicating that the simulation environment and the implemented control strategy work ***,we compare the behavior of our best controller with other algorithms and present some possible strategies to improve its performance.

Implications of the differences in leaf life span are still subject to debate in the field of *** leaf traits associated with these differences may be decisive for determining the distribution of tree species,this topic is particularly relevant in the context of climate *** study analyzes the effects of the differences in leaf life span on premature losses of leaf area owing to insect herbivory and to abiotic *** of leaf area may be an important determinant of total leaf carbon *** Mediterranean tree species,distributed on four sites with different climates were *** species exhibited strong differences in leaf life span and in leaf traits,especially leaf mass per unit *** leaf area losses were estimated in response to insect herbivory and summer drought over two *** results revealed that,despite having older leaf cohorts with more damage,species with longer leaf duration had lower area lost to herbivores and less damage due to accelerated senescence during the summer *** respect to the predicted increase in water stress,deciduous species are at a disadvantage due to their high premature loss of leaf area and thus loss of photosynthetic capacity.

Mutations in the small genome present in mitochondria often result in severe *** genetic strategies have been explored,aiming to rescue such mutations.A number of these strategies were based on the capacity of human mitochondria to import RNAs from the cytosol and designed to repress the replication of the mutated genomes or to provide the organelles with wild-type versions of mutant ***,the mutant RNAs present in mitochondria turned out to be an obstacle to therapy and little attention has been devoted so far to their ***,we present the development of a strategy to knockdown mitochondrial RNAs in human cells using the transfer RNA-like structure of Brome mosaic virus or Tobacco mosaic virus as a shuttle to drive trans-cleaving ribozymes into the organelles in human cell *** obtained a specific knockdown of the targeted mitochondrial ATP6 mRNA,followed by a deep drop in ATP6 protein and a functional impairment of the oxidative phosphorylation *** strategy provides a powerful approach to eliminate mutant organellar transcripts and to analyse the control and communication of the human organellar genetic system.

Carbonates and organic matter in soils characterized by reflected energy from 350-25000 nm wavelength

The soil carbon pool which is the sum of soil organic carbon(SOC)and soil inorganic carbon(SIC)is the second largest active store of carbon after the oceans and it is an important component of the global carbon ***,accurate estimation of SOC and SIC as important carbon reservoirs in terrestrial ecosystems using fast,inexpensive and non-destructive methods is crucial for planning different climate change *** aim of the current research was to examine the effectiveness of Vis-NIR(visible and near-infrared spectroscopy:350-2500 nm)and MIR(mid-infrared spectroscopy:4000-400 cm-1)to characterize and estimate soil organic matter(SOM)and carbonates as main components of soil carbon stocks in Juneqan,Charmahal va Bakhtiari,*** do so,a total of 548 soil samples from this area were collected(October 2015)and analyzed in laboratory(August 2017).In order to develop models capable of predicting SOM and carbonates content,seven spectral preprocessing methods comprising Absorbance(Abs),De-trending(Det),Continuum removal(CR),Savitzky-Golay derivatives(SGD),standard normal variate transformation(SNV),multiplicative scatter correction(MSC)and Normalization by range(NBR)were conducted along with five multivariate methods including Random Forest(RF),Partial Least-Squares Regression(PLSR),Artificial Neural Network(ANN),Support Vector Machine(SVM)and Gaussian Process Regression(GPR).The content of carbonates caused spectral reflectance intensity to augment on several ranges of spectrum and strong absorption feature at 2338 nm in the Vis-NIR and 714,850,870,1796,2150 and 2510 cm-1 in the MIR spectra *** absorbed energy in several ranges,but also showed specific peaks in *** facts are associated with the structure of carbonates and SOM and its interaction with *** best combination of preprocessing and calibration models for carbonates quantification in Vis-NIR spectra was Det/PLSR(R2=0.74,RPD=2.19,RMSE=6.45).For SOM,it was Det/PLSR(R2=0.82,RPD=2.41,RM

De-escalating therapy in gastric aggressive lymphoma

The treatment of primary gastric diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL) has changed radically over the last 10–15 years, with the abandonment of routine gastrectomy in favor of more conservative therapies. Low-level evidence suggests that consolidation radiotherapy could be avoided in patients with limited-stage DLBCL of the stomach who achieve complete remission after rituximab-CHOP combination. Small, recent prospective trials suggest that selected patients with limited-stage Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori)-positive DLBCL of the stomach and favorable prognostic factors can be managed with antibiotics alone, with excellent disease control and cure rates, keeping chemo-radiotherapy for unresponsive patients. This recommendation should equally regard patients with mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue-related or de novo DLBCL. Future studies should be focused on the establishment of reliable variables able to distinguish the best candidates for exclusive treatment with H. pylori eradication from those who need for conventional chemo-immunotherapy.

Artificial root exudates and soil organic carbon mineralization in a degraded sandy grassland in northern China

Plant root exudates contain various organic and inorganic components that include glucose, citric and oxalic acid. These components affect rhizosphere microbial and microfaunal activities, but the mechanisms are not fully known. Studies concerned from degraded grassland ecosystems with low soil carbon（C） contents are rare, in spite of the global distribution of grasslands in need of restoration. All these have a high potential for carbon sequestration, with a reduced carbon content due to overutilization. An exudate component that rapidly decomposes will increase soil respiration and CO2 emission, while a component that reduces decomposition of native soil carbon can reduce CO2 emission and actually help sequestering carbon in soil. Therefore, to investigate root exudate effects on rhizosphere activity, citric acid, glucose and oxalic acid（0.6 g C/kg dry soil） were added to soils from three biotopes（grassland, fixed dune and mobile dune） located in Naiman, Horqin Sandy Land, Inner Mongolia, China） and subjected to a 24-day incubation experiment together with a control. The soils were also analyzed for general soil properties. The results show that total respiration without exudate addition was highest in grassland soil, intermediate in fixed dune and lowest in mobile dune soil. However, the proportion of native soil carbon mineralized was highest in mobile dune soil, reflecting the low C/N ratio found there. The exudate effects on CO2-C emissions and other variables differed somewhat between biotopes, but total respiration（including that from the added substrates） was significantly increased in all combinations compared with the control, except for oxalic acid addition to mobile dune soil, which reduced CO2-C emissions from native soil carbon. A small but statistically significant increase in pH by the exudate additions in grassland and fixed dune soil was observed, but there was a major decrease from acid additions to mobile dune soil. Mesozoic giant fleas from northeastern China (Siphonaptera):Taxonomy and implications for palaeodiversity

The recently discovered definite giant fleas from the Middle Jurassic Daohugou fauna and the Early Cretaceous Jehol fauna of northeastern China represent significant evidence for understanding ectoparasitism in the Mesozoic as well as the evolution of these giant blood feeders with their putative hosts (i.e. hairy or feathered vertebrates). On the basis of seven well-preserved specimens from Daohugou and Huangbanjigou we analyse the systematic classification of these primitive fleas, establishing two new genera and three new species as Pseudopulex wangi sp. nov., Hadropsylla sinica gen. et sp. nov., and Tyrannopsylla beipiaoensis gen. et sp. nov. All of them are assigned to the extinct siphonapteran family Pseudopulicidae, while the Early Cretaceous genus Tarwinia is transferred to Tarwiniidae fam. nov. The basal morphological disparities of Siphonaptera in the Mesozoic are evidenced by the occurrence of at least three distinct groups (pseudopulicids, tarwiniids, and saurophthirids). These disparate morphologies likely indicate adaptations to different hosts.
