Cascade-reaction chemistry can generate reactive-oxygen-species that can be used for the eradication of infectious ***,suitable and sufficient oxygen sources are not always available near an infection site,while the reactive-oxygen-species generated are ***,we developed a magnetic cascade-reaction container composed of mesoporous Fe_(3)O_(4)@SiO_(2) nanoparticles containing glucose-oxidase and L-arginine for generation of ***-oxidase was conjugated with APTeS facilitating coupling to Fe_(3)O_(4)@SiO_(2) nanoparticles and generation of H_(2)O_(2) from glucose.L-arginine was loaded into the nanoparticles to generate NO from the H_(2)O_(2) *** an externally-applied magnetic field,cascade-reaction containers could be homogeneously distributed across the depth of an infectious ***-reaction containers with coupled glucose-oxidase were effective in killing planktonic,Gram-positive and Gram-negative *** efficacy of the L-arginine based second cascade-reaction was only observed when H_(2)O_(2) as well as NO were generated *** vivo accumulation of cascade-reaction containers inside abdominal Staphylococcus aureus biofilms upon magnetic targeting was observed real-time in living mice through an implanted,intra-vital ***,vancomycin-resistant,abdominal *** biofilms could be eradicated consuming solely endogenous glucose,without any glucose ***,a new,non-antibiotic-based infection-control strategy has been provided,constituting a welcome addendum to the shrinking clinical armamentarium to control antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections.

We present an electron backscattered diffraction(eBSD)-trained deep learning(DL)method integrating traditional material characterization informatics and artificial intelligence for a more accurate classification and quantification of complex microstructures using only regular scanning electron microscope(SeM)*** this method,eBSD analysis is applied to produce accurate ground truth data for guiding the DL model *** U-Net architecture is used to establish the correlation between SeM input images and eBSD ground truth data using only small experimental *** proposed method is successfully applied to two engineering steels with complex microstructures,i.e.,a dual-phase(DP)steel and a quenching and partitioning(Q&P)steel,to segment different phases and quantify phase content and grain ***,once properly trained the method can also produce quasi-eBSD maps by inputting regular SeM *** good generality of the trained models is demonstrated by using DP and Q&P steels not associated with the model ***,the method is applied to SeM images with various states,i.e.,different imaging modes,image qualities and magnifications,demonstrating its good robustness and strong application ***,the visualization of feature maps during the segmenting process is utilised to explain the mechanism of this method’s good performance.

The unprecedented wheat yield increases during the Green Revolution were achieved through the introduc-tion of the Reduced height(Rht)-B1b and Rht-D1b semi-dwarfing *** Rht-1 alleles encode growth-repressing DeLLA genes containing a stop codon within their open reading frame that confers gibberellin(GA)-insensitive *** this study,we successfully took the hurdle of detecting wild-type RHT-1 proteins in different wheat organs and confirmed their degradation in response to *** further demonstrated that Rht-B1b and Rht-D1b produce N-terminal truncated proteins through trans-lational *** of these N-terminal truncated proteins in transgenic lines and in Rht-D1c,an allele containing multiple Rht-D1b copies,demonstrated their ability to cause strong dwarfism,resulting from their insensitivity to GA-mediated degradation.N-terminal truncated proteins were detected in spikes and nodes,but not in the aleurone *** Rht-B 1b and Rht-D1b alleles cause dwarfism but have wild-type dormancy,this finding suggests that tissue-specific differences in translational reinitiation may explain why the Rht-1 alleles reduce plant height without affecting *** together,our findings not only reveal the molecular mechanism underlying the Green Revolution but also demonstrate that trans-lational reinitiation in the main open reading frame occurs in plants.

We introduce a structural approach to study Lagrangian submanifolds of the complex hyperquadric in arbitrary dimension by using its family of non-integrable almost product *** particular,we define local angle functions encoding the geometry of the Lagrangian submanifold at *** prove that these functions are constant in the special case that the Lagrangian immersion is the Gauss map of an isoparametric hypersurface of a sphere and give the relation with the constant principal curvatures of the *** also use our techniques to classify all minimal Lagrangian submanifolds of the complex hyperquadric which have constant sectional curvatures and all minimal Lagrangian submanifolds for which all local angle functions,respectively all but one,coincide.

The transition temperature between upper bainite and lower bainite is calculated with an extended Gibbs energy balance model, which is able to quantitatively describe the evolution of carbon supersaturation within bainitic ferrite sheaves during the entire thickening process. The nucleation rate of intra-lath cementite precipitation on a dislocation is calculated based on of the degree of carbon *** bainite and lower bainite are thus distinguished by the effective nucleation density and therefore a numerical criterion can be set to define the transition. The model is applied to Fe-xC-1Mn/2Mn/1 Mo ternary alloys. Results show that the transition temperature increases with bulk carbon content at lower carbon concentration but decreases in the higher carbon region. This prediction agrees very well with the experimental observations in Mn and Mo alloyed systems. Moreover, the highest transition temperature and the carbon content at which it occurs in the Fe-xC-2Mn system are in good agreement with reported experimental data. The inverse ＂V＂ shaped character of the carbon concentration-transition temperature curve indicates two opposite physical mechanisms operating at the same time. An analysis is carried out to provide an explanation.

In the last ten years,‘nature’and biophilic design have received widespread attention in architecture,especially in response to growing environmental ***,open questions and controversies remain regarding conceptualizing and addressing‘nature’in practice and *** study conducts a literature review to discuss biophilic design as a theoretical framework to interpret‘nature’in *** following questions are answered:(1)How has the concept of biophilic design emerged,and how can it be defined?(2)In what ways can biophilic design contribute to the goals of sustainable architecture?(3)What are the key design strategies in biophilic design?This review identifies and compares the key frameworks of biophilic design and explains their major *** then analyse the benefits(e.g.,enhance health,well-being,productivity,biodiversity,and circularity)of biophilic design in achieving sustainability,as framed through the UN Sustainable Development *** results indicate that biophilic design is more complex and richer than the mere application of vegetation in buildings;it broadens the variety through encompassing different types of nature from physical,sensory,metaphorical,morphological,material to ***,knowledge gaps are identified to motivate future research and critical reflections on biophilic design practices.

Outer membrane vesicles(OMVs)are spherical particles shed from the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria,which contain the typical components present in the outer membrane,although enrichment of specific molecules may occur,and furthermore a variety of periplasmic components and occasionally some inner membrane or cytoplasmic *** the detailed mechanisms of OMV biogenesis are not fully illuminated yet,several models have been proposed that demonstrate OMV biogenesis is an orchestrated well-regulated *** secretion offers a way for both intra-and inter-species bacterial communication and for interaction or modulation of the bacterial ***,OMVs have proven to be functionally versatile and important for bacterial physiology and survival of the host *** the host,OMVs are internalized via host cell endocytosis pathways,allowing them to subsequently trigger a variety of cellular *** this review,we discuss the recent advances in establishing the mechanisms involved in OMV biogenesis and the impact of OMVs on bacterial physiology and intracellular modulation of the host.

A 92WC-8Co powder mixture with 33 nm WC grains was prepared by strengthening ball milling and was then sintered by spark plasma sintering （SPS） at 1000-1200℃ for 5-18 rain under 10-25 kN, respectively. Movement of the position of low punch shown shrinkage of the sintered body began above 800℃. The shrinkage slowly rose as the temperature rose from 800 to 1000℃ and then quickly rose at above 1000℃ and then gradually rose at above 1150℃. The densities of the samples increased with an increase in sintering temperature, rapidly below 1100℃, and then gradually above 1100℃. WC grains grow gradually with increasing sintering temperature. The powder was sintered to near full density at 1100℃ for 5 rain under 10 kN. The best result of the sample with 275 nm WC grains and no pores was obtained at 1150℃ under 10 kN for 5 rain. The research found the graphite die had a function of carburization, which could compensate the sintered body for the lack of carbon, and had the normal microstructure.

The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)is increasing rapidly *** of the limited success of generic interventions,the focus of the disease study has shifted toward personalized strategies,particularly in the early stages of the *** Chinese medicine(TCM)is based on a systems view combined with personalized strategies and has improved our knowledge of personalized *** a systems biology perspective,the understanding of personalized diagnostics can be improved to yield a biochemical basis for such strategies;for example,metabolomics can be used in combination with other system-based diagnostic methods such as ultra-weak photon emission(UPe).In this study,we investigated the feasibility of using plasma metabolomics obtained from 44 pre-T2DM subjects to stratify the following TCM-based subtypes:Qi-Yin deficiency,Qi-Yin deficiency with dampness,and Qi-Yin deficiency with *** studied the relationship between plasma metabolomics and UPe with respect to TCM-based subtyping in order to obtain biochemical information for further interpreting disease *** component analysis of plasma metabolites revealed differences among the TCM-based pre-T2DM *** high levels of lipids(e.g.,cholesterol esters and triglycerides)were important discriminators of two of the three subtypes and may be associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular *** metabolomics data indicate that the lipid profile is an essential component captured by UPe with respect to stratifying subtypes of *** results suggest that metabolic differences exist among different TCM-based subtypes of pre-T2DM,and profiling plasma metabolites can be used to discriminate among these *** metabolomics thus provides biochemical insights into system-based UPe measurements.
