In 2023,pivotal advancements in artificial intelligence(AI)have significantly *** that in mind,traditional methodologies,notably the p-y approach,have struggled to accurately model the complex,nonlinear soil-structure interactions of laterally loaded large-diameter drilled *** study undertakes a rigorous evaluation of machine learning(mL)and deep learning(DL)techniques,offering a comprehensive review of their application in addressing this geotechnical challenge.A thorough review and comparative analysis have been carried out to investigate various AI models such as artificial neural networks(ANNs),relevance vector machines(RVms),and least squares support vector machines(LSSVms).It was found that despite mL approaches outperforming classic methods in predicting the lateral behavior of piles,their‘black box'nature and reliance only on a data-driven approach made their results showcase statistical robustness rather than clear geotechnical insights,a fact underscored by the mathematical equations derived from these ***,the research identified a gap in the availability of drilled shaft datasets,limiting the extendibility of current findings to large-diameter *** extensive dataset,compiled from a series of lateral loading tests on free-head drilled shaft with varying properties and geometries,was introduced to bridge this *** paper concluded with a direction for future research,proposes the integration of physics-informed neural networks(PINNs),combining data-driven models with fundamental geotechnical principles to improve both the interpretability and predictive accuracy of AI applications in geotechnical engineering,marking a novel contribution to the field.

Comparison between seismic analysis of twisting and regular 52-story towers considering soil-structure interaction

A dynamic analysis of both twisting and regular towers is carried out to determine the results of considering soil-structure interaction(SSI)on high-rise *** addition,the difference between the seismic performance of using twisting towers over regular ones is *** twisting tower is a simulation of the evolution Tower(moscow).The towers’skeletons consist of RC elements and rest on a reinforced concrete piled-raft *** soil model is considered as multi-layered with the same soil properties as the zone chosen for the analysis(New mansoura City,egypt).The only difference between both towers is their shape in *** whole system is modelled and analyzed in a single step as one full 3D model,which is known as the direct approach in *** analyses are carried out using finite-element software(midas GTS NX).Dynamic output responses due to three records of seismic loads are proposed and presented in some *** on the results,it is concluded that SSI has a considerable effect on the dynamic response of tall buildings mainly because of the foundation flexibility,as it leads to lengthening the vibration period,increasing the story drift and the base shear for both cases.

CO oxidation and 4-nitrophenol reduction over ceria-promoted platinum nanoparticles impregnated with ZSm-5 zeolite

Active new ceria-promoted platinum supported on ZSm-5 catalysts were prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectra(FTIR),transform electron microscopy(Tem),temperature programmed desorption(TPD),and FTIR of CO *** samples were prepared by the incipient wetness impregnation method and calcined at 500℃.The XRD patterns and FTIR spectra prove that the zeolite framework is kept unaltered after metal *** images prove the presence of Pt nanoparticles with particle size starting from 14 to 27 *** FTIR data suggest the formation of Pt-O-Ce ***-situ FTIR of CO adsorption over reduced samples proves the presence of Pt~0 only,and no Pt^(n+)-CO species are *** prepared catalysts were tested in both oxidation reaction(CO oxidation) in the gas phase and in reduction reaction(4-nitrophenol reduction) in the aqueous ***,CO oxidation by O_(2) results in the formation of a CO_(2) peak at 2347 cm^(-1) as the only CO oxidation product in the studied frequency *** intensity of the CO_(2) peak increases after the addition of Ce,and it is 4 times higher in Pt_(1) Ce_(0.5)ZSm-5 than that in the Ce-free *** to the FTIR data and previous reports,the increase in the catalytic activity may be due to the formation of Pt-O-Ce ***,Ce-promoted Pt_(1) ZSm5 also exhibits enhanced catalytic activity towards the reduction of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol by NaBH_(4) in the aqueous *** first-order rate constant of the reduction increases ≈13 times after incorporating equal ratios of Pt and Ce(Pt_(1) Ce_(1)ZSm-5),and the activation energy(e_(a)) decreases to 40% of that in the reaction over Pt_(1) ZSm-5.

effect of Pd or Ir on the catalytic performance of mo/H-ZSm-5 during the non-oxidative conversion of natural gas to petrochemicals

Natural gas conversion to petrochemicals, principally, benzene, naphthalene, toluene, as well as ethylene under non-oxidative conditions was examined in a fixed bed flow reactor at 700 ℃ and gaseous hourly space velocity （GHSV） of 1500 ml·g ^-1·h^-1 at time-on-stream ranging from 5 rain to 4 h using catalysts containing 6.0%mo/H-ZSm-5 promoted with Pd or Ir metal. The catalysts were characterized by XRD, TPD, and TGA. The addition of Pd or Ir to 6%mo/H-ZSm-5 catalyst promoted ethylene production but inhibited the cyclization reaction to aromatics owing to the strong interaction between these noble metals and the framework Al species, which were attached to the acid sites during the impregnation process. Coke deposition on the catalysts was found to decrease upon addition of 0.5wt% of Pd or Ir to 6%mo/H-ZSm-5 catalyst owing to the hydrogenating activity of these metals.

Recently,deep learning(DL)became one of the essential tools in bioinformatics.A modified convolutional neural network(CNN)is employed in this paper for building an integratedmodel for deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA)*** any CNN model,convolutional layers are used to extract features followed by max-pooling layers to reduce the dimensionality of features.A novel method based on downsampling and CNNs is introduced for feature *** downsampling is an improved form of the existing pooling layer to obtain better classification *** two-dimensional discrete transform(2D DT)and two-dimensional random projection(2D RP)methods are applied for *** convert the high-dimensional data to low-dimensional data and transform the data to the most significant feature ***,there are parameters which directly affect how a CNN model is *** this paper,some issues concerned with the training of CNNs have been *** CNNs are examined by changing some hyperparameters such as the learning rate,size of minibatch,and the number of *** and assessment of the performance of CNNs are carried out on 16S rRNA bacterial *** results indicate that the utilization of a CNN based on wavelet subsampling yields the best trade-off between processing time and accuracy with a learning rate equal to 0.0001,a size of minibatch equal to 64,and a number of epochs equal to 20.

Facial synthesis of carbon nanotube interweaved FeOOH as chloride-insertion electrode for highly efficient faradic capacitive deionization

Faradic-based capacitive deionization（FDI） has been widely acknowledged as one of the most promising desalination techniques to solve the freshwater crisis, yet was largely limited by heavily trailed development of its anode materials, which subsequently hindered its desalination performance in terms of both desalination capacity and stability. Herein, we developed a new type of anode material for FDI by coupling chloride-insertion FeOOH with carbon nanotubes（CNTs@FeOOH）. The essence of this study lay in the composition of FeOOH with CNTs that could not only facilitate charge/electron transfer but also prevent structural aggregation. Consequently, the CNTs@FeOOH-based FDI system displays excellent desalination performance(desalination capacity: 50.36 mg g-1; desalination rate: 0.41 mg g-1s-1) with robust long-term stability（13.86 % reduction over 80 cycles）, which could motivate the future development of other highly-efficient desalination systems.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: The diagnosis and management

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is now the most frequent chronic liver disease that occurs across all age groups and is recognized to occur in 14%-30% of the general population, representing a serious and growing clinical problem due to the growing prevalence of obesity and overweight. Histologically, it resembles alcoholic liver injury but occurs in patients who deny significant alcohol consumption. NAFLD encompasses a spectrum of conditions, ranging from benign hepatocellular steatosisto inflammatory nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, fibrosis, and cirrhosis. The majority of hepatocellular lipids are stored as triglycerides, but other lipid metabolites, such as free fatty acids, cholesterol, and phospholipids, may also be present and play a role in disease progression. NAFLD is associated with obesity and insulin resistance and is considered the hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome, a combination of medical conditions including type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and visceral adiposity. Confirmation of the diagnosis of NAFLD can usually be achieved by imaging studies; however, staging the disease requires a liver biopsy. Current treatment relies on weight loss and exercise, although various insulin-sensitizing agents, antioxidants and medications appear promising. The aim of this review is to highlight the current information regarding epidemiology, diagnosis, and management of NAFLD as well as new information about pathogenesis, diagnosis and management of this disease.

Price Prediction of Seasonal Items Using machine Learning and Statistical methods

Price prediction of goods is a vital point of research due to how common e-commerce platforms *** are several efforts conducted to forecast the price of items using classicmachine learning algorithms and *** models can predict prices of various financial instruments,e.g.,gold,oil,cryptocurrencies,stocks,and second-hand *** these efforts,the literature has no model for predicting the prices of seasonal goods(e.g.,Christmas gifts).In this context,we framed the task of seasonal goods price prediction as a regression ***,we utilized a real online trailer dataset of Christmas gifts and then we proposed several machine learningbased models and one statistical-based model to predict the prices of these seasonal ***,we utilized a real-life dataset of Christmas gifts for the prediction ***,we proposed support vector regressor(SVR),linear regression,random forest,and ridgemodels as machine learningmodels for price ***,we proposed an autoregressive-integrated-movingaverage(ARImA)model for the same purpose as a statistical-based ***,we evaluated the performance of the proposed models;the comparison shows that the best performing model was the random forest model,followed by the ARImA model.

Plasma ignition threshold disparity between silver nanoparticle-based target and bulk silver target at different laser wavelengths

Plasma ignition threshold of nanoparticle-based and bulk silver targets was measured in air. The plasma was initiated by a Nd:YAG laser at wavelengths of 355, 532, and 1064 nm. The plasma ignition was monitored utilizing the prominent Ag I line at 546.5 nm. Lower ignition thresholds of the nanoparticle-based silver target were estimated at 0.4?±?0.02, 0.34?±?0.04, and 0.27?±?0.035 J cm^(-2) coupled with the different laser wavelengths, respectively. In contrast, the bulk silver target plasma exhibited an order of magnitude higher ignition threshold. A three orders of magnitude enhanced emission intensity from the nano-based target over the bulk target was achieved at lower levels of laser irradiation. A reduction of the thermal diffusion length of the nanosilver was assumed in order to theoretically predict this reduction in the plasma threshold. In addition, the effect of self-reversal on the resonance lines was taken into consideration.
