Analytical model for predicting time-dependent lateral deformation of geosynthetics-reinforced soil walls with modular block facing

To date,few models are available in the literature to consider the creep behavior of geosynthetics when predicting the lateral deformation(d)of geosynthetics-reinforced soil(GRS)retaining *** this study,a general hyperbolic creep model was first introduced to describe the long-term deformation of geosynthetics,which is a function of elapsed time and two empirical parameters a and *** conventional creep tests with three different tensile loads(Pr)were conducted on two uniaxial geogrids to determine their creep behavior,as well as the a-Pr and b-Pr *** test results show that increasing Pr accelerates the development of creep deformation for both ***,a and b respectively show exponential and negatively linear relationships with Pr,which were confirmed by abundant experimental data available in other *** on the above creep model and relationships,an accurate and reliable analytical model was then proposed for predicting the time-dependent d of GRS walls with modular block facing,which was further validated using a relevant numerical investigation from the previous *** evaluation and comparison of the proposed model with six available prediction models were *** a parametric study was carried out to evaluate the effects of wall height,vertical spacing of geogrids,unit weight and internal friction angle of backfills,and factor of safety against pullout on d at the end of construction and 5 years *** findings show that the creep effect not only promotes d but also raises the elevation of the maximum d along the wall ***,the limitations and application prospects of the proposed model were discussed and analyzed.

Wearable electronics have promising applications in human-machine interfaces due to their excellent flexibility,stretchability and human friendliness,and one of the key points of wearable electronics is to develop strain sensors with high sensitivity and working ***,a high-performance eco-flex@AgNW/graphite/Pt hybrid strain sensor was fabricated by suction filtrating,transferring and surface sputtering *** suction filtrating of AgNW and graphite dispersions on a wrinkle-shape Nylon filter,transferring of AgNW/graphite layer onto ecoflex and further surface sputtering by Pt allow the construction of fingerprint bionic ecoflex@AgNW/graphite/Pt hybrid strain *** resul-tant fingerprint bionic hybrid strain sensor possesses high sensitivity of 2064.1 at the strain of 140%e155%,a wide working range of 0e155%,a short response time(111 ms and 189 ms for tensile and releasing process)and excellent cyclic stability over 5000 *** study provides a universal tech-nique for the preparation of strain sensors with promising applications in the field of next-generation intelligent wearable electronics.

The electrochemical water splitting to produce hydrogen converts electric energy into clean hydrogen energy,which is a groundbreaking concept of energy *** achieve high efficiency,numerous strategies have been developed to enhance the performance of *** these,interface engineering with molecules/ions/groups,serves as a versatile approach for optimizing the performance of electrocatalysts in water *** the basis of numerous achievements in high-performance electrocatalysts engineered through molecules/ions/groups at interface,a comprehensive understanding of these advancements is crucial for guiding future ***,after providing a concise overview of the background,the interface engineering via molecules/ions/groups for electrocatalytic water splitting is demonstrated from three ***,the engineering of electronic state of electrocatalysts by molecules/ions/groups at interface to reduce the Gibbs free energy of the corresponding ***,the modification of local microenvironment surrounding electrocatalysts via molecules/ions/groups at interface to enhance the transfer of reactants and ***,the protection of electrocatalysts with molecule/ion/group fences improves their durability,including protecting active sites from leaching and defending them against harmful *** fundamental principles of these three aspects are outlined for each,along with pertinent ***,several research directions and challenges are proposed.

Transfer learning-based encoder-decoder model with visual explanations for infrastructure crack segmentation:New open database and comprehensive evaluation

Contemporary demands necessitate the swift and accurate detection of cracks in critical infrastructures,including tunnels and *** study proposed a transfer learning-based encoder-decoder method with visual explanations for infrastructure crack ***,a vast dataset containing 7089 images was developed,comprising diverse conditions—simple and complex crack patterns as well as clean and rough ***,leveraging transfer learning,an encoder-decoder model with visual explanations was formulated,utilizing varied pre-trained convolutional neural network(CNN)as the *** explanations were achieved through gradient-weighted class activation mapping(Grad-CAm)to interpret the CNN segmentation ***,accuracy,complexity(computation and model),and memory usage assessed CNN feasibility in practical *** performance was gauged via prediction and visual *** investigation encompassed hyperparameters,data augmentation,deep learning from scratch *** learning,segmentation model architectures,segmentation model encoders,and encoder pre-training *** underscored transfer learning’s potency in enhancing CNN accuracy for crack segmentation,surpassing deep learning from ***,encoder classification accuracy bore no significant correlation with CNN segmentation *** all tested models,UNet-efficientNet_b7 excelled in crack segmentation,harmonizing accuracy,complexity,memory usage,prediction,and visual explanation.

In this paper,a novel ternary eutectic salt Na_(2)CO_(3)-Li_(2)CO_(3)-LiF was designed and investigated for concentrated solar power(CSP).The FactSage software was used to predict the composition and eutectic point of Na_(2)CO_(3)-Li_(2)CO_(3)-*** microstructure,thermophysical properties,and thermal stability of eutectic salts were experimentally measured using various analytical *** a mass ratio of 57%:32%:11%,the eutectic salt exhibited excellent thermal storage properties with a fusion enthalpy of 413 J/g and a melting point of 426.8℃.The excellent thermal stability of the eutectic salt was reflected by a weight loss of only 0.8% at 600℃.

Spinal cord injury(SCI)is one of the most devastating traumas,and the aberrant proliferation of astrocytes usually causes neurological ***,the mechanism underlying astrocyte over-proliferation after SCI is ***2c(glutamate ionotropic receptor type 2c)plays an essential role in cell *** bioinformatic analysis indicated that Grin2c and Ca^(2+)transport functions were inhibited in astrocytes after *** of Grin2c stimulated astrocyte proliferation by inhibiting the Ca^(2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase 2b(CamK2b)pathway in *** screening different inflammatory factors,interleukin 1α(IL1α)was further found to inhibit Grin2c/Ca^(2+)/CamK2b and enhance astrocyte proliferation in an oxidative damage *** of IL1αusing neutralizing antibody resulted in increased Grin2c expression and the inhibition of astrocyte proliferation ***,this study suggests that IL1αpromotes astrocyte proliferation by suppressing the Grin2c/Ca^(2+)/CamK2b pathway after SCI,revealing a novel pathological mechanism of astrocyte proliferation,and may provide potential targets for SCI repair.
