This paper presents the effect of kenaf fibre orientation on the mechanical properties of kenaf–aramid hybrid composites for military vehicle's spall liner application. It was observed that the tensile strength of woven kenaf hybrid composite is almost 20.78% and 43.55% higher than that of UD and mat samples respectively. Charpy impact strength of woven kenaf composites is 19.78% and 52.07% higher than that of UD and mat kenaf hybrid composites respectively. Morphological examinations were carried out using scanning electron microscopy. The results of this study indicate that using kenaf in the form of woven structure could produce a hybrid composite material with high tensile strength and impact resistance properties.

The custom of hybridization fibre composite in energy absorption tube application has gained the attention of structural crashworthiness in composite material industry. Thus, the approach of this review is to understand the effect in hybridization within metal/synthetic fibre composite, synthetic/synthetic fibre composite and nature/synthetic fibre composite as energy absorption tube, which reflects on the energy absorption characteristics and crashworthiness behaviors in previous the study. By way of instance, a wide range of methodology and particular parameter in previous study such as the effect in fibre arrangement, matrix polymer, technique of fabrication, fibre treatment(natural fibre), design in geometry/cross-section and others mechanism of hybrid fibre composite tube are highlighted which to comprehend the capability of the mechanical performance and collapsible behavior as sacrificial structure in high-performance structure applications. Moreover, in the recently studies there have been many of the research regarding structural materials as energy absorption tube has been introduced such as metal/matrix composites, new alloy metals and polymer composites which intended to evaluate the performance of these materials into circumstance in loading and impact characteristic. Therefore, this review article is trying to explore the research articles related to the effect of hybridization fibres and thermoset polymer as reinforcement for energy absorption tube research and expected would provide an information and idea which to expend the knowledge in future study of hybridization effect for energy absorption tube, moreover the development for future potential as new hybrid composite fibre materials from the natural/synthetic fibres reinforced composite material in employing of high-performance energy absorption tube application is still less discover and highlighted.

Material selection has become a critical part of design for engineers,due to availability of diverse choice of materials that have similar properties and meet the product design *** of statistical analysis alone makes it difficult to identify the ideal composition of the final *** integrated approach between statistical model and micromechanical model is *** this paper,resultant natural fibre and polymer matrix from previous study is used to estimate the mechanical properties such as density,Young’s modulus and tensile *** levels of fibre loading are used to compare the optimum natural fibre reinforced polymer composite(NFRPC).The result from this analytical approach revealed that kenaf/polystyrene(Ps)with 40%fibre loading is the ideal composite in automotive component *** was found that the ideal composite score is 1.156 g/cm^(3),24.2 GPa and 413.4 MPa for density,Young’s modulus and tensile strength,respectively.A suggestion to increase the properties on Young’s modulus are also *** work proves that the statistical model is well incorporated with the analytical approach to choose the correct composite to use in automotive application.

This research was aimed to study the effect winding orientation on the crashworthiness performance of hybrid *** specimens tested under quasi-static compression load involve of three winding parameters(q?30,45and 70)of hybrid kenaf/glass fiber reinforced epoxy and glass fiber reinforced epoxy as contrast *** automated filament winding technique has been used in fabrication of hybrid and non-hybrid composite tube and crashworthiness performance was investigated *** effects of winding orientation on energy absorption capabilities and crashworthiness characteristic were investigated through quasi-static compression load and the result are compared with the glass fiber composite tube to justify the capability of hybrid natural/synthetic as energy absorption *** samples proved to enhancing the progressive crushing capability as combination of local buckling,delaminate and brittle fracturing as progressive crushing *** the view of winding orientation aspect,the results of high winding orientation of hybrid composite tube elevated the crush load efficiency,specific energy absorption and energy absorption capability compared to glass composite tube(GFRP).The hybrid kenaf/glass composite tube with high winding orientation showed the best winding orientation to enhance the energy absorber characteristics as energy absorption application.

This paper investigates the free vibration and transient response of interconnected structures including double curved beams and intermediate straight beams,which are all constructed from functionally graded porous(FGP) materials. The strain potential and kinetic energies of each beam along with the work done by the external force are calculated. Additionally, a higher-order beam element is introduced to derive stiffness and mass matrices, along with the force vector. The curved and straight beams are discretized, and their assembled stiffness, mass matrices, and force vectors, are *** conditions at the joints are used to derive the total matrices of the entire structure. subsequently, the natural frequencies and transient response of the system are determined. The accuracy of the mathematical model and the self-developed computer program is validated through the comparison of the obtained results with those of the existing literature and commercial software ANsYs, demonstrating excellent ***, a comprehensive study is conducted to investigate the effects of various parameters on the free vibration and transient response of the considered structure.

Bound states in the continuum （BICs） are perfectly localized resonances despite embedding in the continuum ***,an isolated BIC is very sensitive to the structure ***,we report merging acoustic BICs in a single open resonator,robust against the structure *** find that both symmetry-protected BIC and Friedrich-Wintgen BIC are sustained in a single coupled waveguide-resonator *** varying the height and length of the resonator,these two BICs move toward each other and merge into a single one at a critical *** to an individual BIC,the merged BIC is robust against fabrication error because its Q-factor is proportional to ΔL-4,whereΔL embodies the structure *** essence of this extraordinary phenomenon is perfectly explained by the two-and three-level approximations of the effective nonHermitian ***,we present direct experimental demonstrations of the moving and merging of BICs in a coupled 3D waveguide-resonator,which are evidenced by the vanishing of the linewidth of Fano resonance in the transmission *** results may find exciting applications in designing high-quality acoustic sources,sensors and filters.

Tolerance and biosorption of copper (Cu) and lead (Pb) by filamentous fungi isolated from a freshwater ecosystem

Filamentous fungi are able to accumulate significant amount of metals from their environment. The potential of fungal biomass as agents for biosorption of heavy metals from contaminated sediments is currently receiving attention. In the present study, a total of 41 isolates of filamentous fungi obtained from the sediment of the Langat River, selangor, Malaysia were screened for their tolerance and uptake capability of copper （Cu） and lead （Pb）. The isolates were identified as Aspergillus niger, A. fumigatus, Trichoderma asperellum, Penicillium simplicissimurn and P. janthinellum. A. niger and P. simplicissimum, were able to survive at 1000 mg/L of Cu（Ⅱ） concentration on Potato Dextrose Agar （PDA） while for Pb, only A. niger survived at 5000 mg/L concentration. The results showed that A. niger, P. simplicissimum and T. asperellum have a better uptake capacity for Pb compared to Cu and the findings indicated promising biosorption of Cu and Pb by these filamentous fungi from aqueous solution. The present study was also determined the maximum removal of Cu（Ⅱ） and Pb（Ⅱ） that was performed by A. niger. The metal removal which occurred at Cu（Ⅱ） 200 mg/L was （20.910 ＋ 0.581） mg/g and at 250 mg/L of PbⅡ） was （54.046 ± 0.328） mg/g.

This paper focuses on the study of the effect of modification of Oil Palm empty Fruit Bunch(OPeFB)and sugarcane bagasse(sCB)biomass as potential reinforcement for composites panel and thermal *** fibres were treated with three types of chemicals:2%silane,4%H2O2 and 4%H2O2-2%silane for 3 *** influence of modified fibres content in composites was examined by structural changes using image analyser,Fourier transform infrared(FTIR),scanning electron Microscopy(seM),tensile,interracial shear strength(IFss)and thermal *** diameter of both fibres was reduced after treatment and showed decreasing of lignin and hemi-cellulose in *** strength has been increased by 2%silane treatment for both fibres and 4%H2O2 treatment displays higher result for *** properties of treated sCB fibre with silane display higher residual content and better thermal *** charac-terization showed that 2%silane treatment removed silica bodies of OPeFB fibre while 4%H2O2 treatment uniformly filled porosity of sCB ***,results revealed that treated OPeFB fibre is enough to improve compatibility and mechanical properties,while treated sCB fibre was effective in thermal stability for fabrication of composite materials.
