In this study,6-chloro-4-hydroxy-2-quinolone and 6-flouro-4-hydroxy-2-quinolone were synthesized from corresponding *** compounds were coupled with some diazotized aromatic amines to give the corresponding azo disperse *** structures of the quinolone derivatives and new azo dyes were confirmed by UV-vis,FT-IR,;H NMR and elemental analysis.

Rock abrasivity influences wear of cutting tools and consequently,performance of mechanized tunneling *** methods have been proposed to evaluate rock abrasivity in recent decades,each one has its own *** this paper,a new method is introduced to estimate wear of disc cutters based on rock cutting tests using scaled down discs(i.e.54 and 72 mm diameter).The discs are made of H13 steel,which is a common steel type in producing real-scale discs,with hardness of 32 and 54 *** small-scale linear rock cutting machine and a new abrasion test apparatus,namely University of Tehran abrasivity test machine,are utilized to perform the *** width of the worn discs is monitored and presented as the function of the accumulated test run to classify the rock *** tests show that by increasing the uniaxial compressive strength(UCS)of the rock samples,wear rate is doubled gradually that reveals the sensitivity of the test procedure to the main pa-rameters affecting the abrasivity of hard *** the rocks with the highest UCS,the normal wear stops after performing 5 to 10 rounds of the tests,and then,deformation of the disc tip is *** abrasivity indices are defined based on the abrasivity tests results and their correlations with Cerchar Abrasivity Index(CAI)and UCS are *** of the established correlations in this study with previous investigations dem-onstrates the sensitivity of the indices to the parameters affecting wear of the disc cutters and repeatability of the outputs obtained from abrasivity tests using scaled down *** of this study can be used to enhance the accuracy of rock abrasivity classifications.

Adsorption of Folic Acid on the Single-walled Carbon Nanotubes: AIM and NBo Analyses via DFT

In the present work, the behavior of folic acid （FA） molecule adsorbed onto single-walled carbon nanotube （SWCNT） was examined using the DFT-B3LYP/6-31G＊ level. In order to obtain information about the binding features of SWCNT as adsorbent with FA molecule, several studies, including the structural and electronic parameters and also the Atoms in Molecules （AIM） analysis, were performed. It was observed that the FA molecule via hydrogen bond prefers to adsorb on SWCNT with adsorption energy of about -18.70 kcal/mol. The molecular orbitals （HoMo and LUMo）, natural bond orbital （NBo）,analysis, and density of states （DoS） plot indicated that a charge about 0.032 [ e [ is transferred from the FA molecule to the nanotube. After solvation energy calculations, it was found that the presence of a polar solvent causes an increase in FA adsorption on the single-walled carbon nanotube. Topological features such as electron energy density （Hc） and Laplacian of the electron density （V2p~） demonstrate partial covalent nature for H（ll6）...o（10） interaction in the FA/SWCNT complex. According to the calculated results, the single-walled carbon nanotubes are expected to be a potential efficient adsorbent for the adsorption of folic acid drug and also can be used as a suitable drug delivery vehicle within biological systems.

In order to evaluate the effects of blocking patterns on the duration of frost waves across Iran,the minimum daily temperatures of 60 weather stations were collected from 20 March 1968 to 21 June *** findings,which were obtained based on the distribution tables of reported temperatures and their frequency variation graphs,resulted in identifying 114 frost *** obtained the daily weather maps at 500 hPa from NCeP/NCAR during the peak days of durable frosts,and it was revealed that the formation of low pressures over 20°-70°e and the dominant southwest-northeast troughs at 500 hPa facilitated the influx of cold air from both eastern europe and central Siberia toward Iran,leading to the average frost duration of 12.4 ***,low-pressure centers appeared in a dipole pattern in northern Iran over Caspian Sea and created durable frosts with an average duration of 15.4 *** effect of omega shaped pattern of the geopotential height on durable frosts demonstrated a sharp difference with two recent patterns leading to the frost occurrence with a 13.3-day duration ***,the slow speed of cold western currents in the rex type of blocking from 30°to 50°N caused durable frosts of 14.3 ***,we found a specific reduction in the frequency of blocking patterns,which has occurred in the past four ***,the blocking and non-blocking patterns cause long-and short-duration frosts over Iran,respectively.

Mountains are an excellent system for evaluating ecological and biogeographical patterns. The obvious variations of the environmental factors along the altitude create different zones with adapted plant assemblages. However, few studies make use of plant functional type(PFT) for describing the variation of vegetation along altitudinal gradients. A PFT is a group of taxa with similar traits which respond similarly to the environmental gradients. In this study, we used PFTs as indicators describing five vegetation zones in the western Alborz Mt, Iran from 2000 – 4500 m. The plant trait data presented here covers six plant traits including growth form, stemleaf ratio, spinescence, hairiness, leaf consistency and plant height of 297 species. We considered altitude and soil factors to test the importance of environmental variables. We applied a multivariate analysis of three table ordination, i.e. environmental, species, and traits data to identify the PFTs. We further applied fourth-corner statistic to quantify trait-environment relationships. A constrained hierarchical clustering was used to detect five altitudinal zones and two zones of low and high nitrogen concentration. With regard to altitude wediscuss the distribution of species, traits and PFTs. Growth form, plant height and stem-leaf ratio were significantly related to altitude and nitrogen. We identified 19 PFTs from which 18 were significantly associated to one or more altitudinal zones. While the lower altitudinal zones contain a variety of PFTs higher altitudes contain less PFTs with the highest altitude containing only one single PFT, tiny rosette plants with soft mesomorphic leaves. We identified grazing and climatic harshness as well as rockiness as the most important drivers of the distribution of plant functional traits and types across the studied gradient.

Inhibitory effect of Vibrio neocaledinocus sp. and Pseudoalteromonas piscicida Dual-Species Biofilms on the Corrosion of Carbon Steel

Multi-species biofilms are found in various bacterial habitats and have industrial relevance. These complex bacterial communities have synergetic effects, unlike a single species. Therefore, it is critical to evaluate these complex communities as a whole. Here, the inhibitory eff ect of single-and dual-species biofilms of Vibrio neocaledinocus sp. and Pseudoalteromonas piscicida for A36 carbon steel corrosion was investigated. The results demonstrated that the synergistic interactions of the monoculture increased the overall biomass production of the dual-species biofilm, but the growth rate was reduced in the presence of the dual-species culture due to a lack of nutrients. Field emission scanning electron microscopy images also confirmed the development of biofilms—they became more homogenized via exposure time in both the mono-and dual-species cultures. The corrosion resistance of A36 carbon steel positively increased because of the dual-species interactions. This reached the highest value after four weeks of exposure. The highest corrosion inhibition e fficiency of 99.8% was achieved in the dual-species cultures. Microbial community analysis revealed the high relative abundance of Pseudoalteromonas piscicida during the initial days of exposure, demonstrating the dominant role of this bacterium in the biofilm structure.

A simplified kinetic model for the oxidative coupling of methane over a La0.6Sr0.4Co0.8Fe0.2o3-δ nanocatalyst is presented. The kinetic model was developed by experimental data in a catalytic micro-reactor covering a wide range of reaction conditions （0.04〈Po2〈0.15 atm, 0.2〈PCH4〈0.85 atm, 800〈T 〈900 °C）. Power law rate expressions were used for all reactions. The reaction scheme proposed in this work includes the most important reactions of oxidative coupling of methane and those involved in most of the available mechanisms in the literature. From the experimental data, kinetic parameters, i.e., pre-exponential factors, activation energies and power law exponents, were estimated. The compatibility of model results with experimental data was investigated and the accuracy of the model prediction was evaluated. Rates of methane consumption, C2＋ and Cox formation, methane conversion, and C2＋ selectivity and yield were compared with experimental data using presented kinetics. The kinetic model was also compared with four previous kinetic models in terms of methane conversion.
